That is not the case with The Skybox Grill. I went once on a weekday & once on a hopping Friday night. Both times I left full & happy. If you're into that "Cheers" feeling, this is your place. The staff is so welcoming & kind. You feel good being there with the lively atmosphere & great people all around & the delicious food puts it a step above the rest. On the weekday lunch visit, I saw moms & kids, families, business men/women, folks at the bar glued to the game & those sitting by theirselves with their newspaper as their companion. All appeared to be welcome & content. The prices are comparable with others, but the quality & consistency of their food is much better. The portions are large enough to share or take home leftovers for another meal. The fresh made food is so yummy & getting fresh, quality food for the same as you'd spend at a fast food joint these days, makes it the perfect spot to have a great meal or grab to go that's a cut above the rest. Often, they host fundraising events in support of the local communities or have fun bands & always there is more than 15 tvs with all the sports going. Somehow, they're able to have everything in one, that works so completely cohesively. It's the perfect go to for brunch, lunch, dinner or a lively date night out. Wether you're the whole family full of kids, a lady lunching with friends, a guy grabbing a quick lunch, a couple on a date night or a whole group of friends meeting up for a night out, this place is perfect. Super safe and just minutes outside of Memphis, it's not only a gem for the Collierville folks, but easily accessible for the whole Memphis area. My husband had the bourbon glazed porterhouse pork chop. His was cooked perfectly fly as well and was super tender. He really enjoyed it, but mentioned that the sauce did have something in it that gave it a little spice. We shared an order of rosemary duck fat fries as the entrees come à la cart with no sides. The fries re heavy on rosemary which my husband didn't care for. I enjoyed them, but they were definitely not my favorite. Between the sports simulators and TVs broadcasting games throughout the space, it felt exactly like the kind of lively college-town sports bar you'd hope to stumble into on a busy game night. The staff was clearly stretched thin because of the crowd, so I don't hold the slower pacing against them. If anything, it reminded me how differently high-volume bars function from city to city. There are probably a few things college-town bars in general could learn from the efficiency of Nashville's Broadway spots, but that's more of an observation than a criticism of this restaurant specifically. The menu is exactly what you'd expect in the best way possible--handhelds, flatbreads, comfort food, and crowd-pleasing bar favorites. I ended up ordering the Chipping Cajun pasta, and honestly, it completely surprised me. The balance between the spice and cream sauce was excellent. The bell peppers, onion, and garlic added depth to the flavor while also giving the dish a nice variety of texture. The seafood was evenly cooked and genuinely delicious throughout.
