We read the poor reviews prior to stopping in to JR's and concluded that maybe this place was "hit or miss." We kept our expectations low but soon realized that low expectations were completely unnecessary. The diner was quiet and we were immediately greeted by a friendly waiter and an adorable "junior waitress" that couldn't have been more than 6 or 7 years old. The restaurant is very clean and we seated ourselves at a window side table. We visited on a Sunday around noon and had our choice of breakfast or lunch (they're open until 2). The menu is large and the food is what you'd expect at a diner - simple and "comfy." Everything we ordered was homemade and absolutely made to order. The fruit bowl was filled with pieces of apple, kiwi, melon, grapes, strawberries and banana and had clearly been made just seconds before being brought to our table. My husband's egg whites were light and fluffy. Toast was perfectly brown and not over buttered. We both ordered shredded hash browns that were homemade and delicious. Even something as basic as my hot tea (a Lipton tea bag) was brought out in a mini tea pot which is, in my opinion, so much nicer than just a mug :) We were so impressed with the food that we chatted with the owner for a few minutes. She clearly takes a lot of pride in making sure that everything is fresh and homemade. She had just finished making a pot of vegetable rice soup and brought out a small dish for us to sample. It was so delicious, we ordered some to go. We live on the north shore but will definitely be sure to stop by again for a bite the next time we are in the area. read more

Let me start by saying the eggs Benedict look like it was nuclear yellow hollandaise sauce. The corn beef barely had flavor and to be honest was pretty disgusting. And the place was very clean but they're using Lysol or something and that's all we could smell and it was so bad that it could almost taste in the food. Went to JR's this morning with a few friends and we were all impressed. The restaurant was very clean, the waitress was friendly and responsive, and it was comfortable inside. More importantly, the eggs were very good, home fries tasty, bacon was crispy and the prices were reasonable. I walked out confused as to why JR's doesn't attract more customers. Tried JRs again. We like to give at least two tries. The food was below average to average. The burgers and fries and clearly frozen patties and not fresh. The split pea soup was very good. Overall not impressed. It's harder for JRs since Depot St Tavern is within walking distance and all the food is made fresh. Hopefully they will improve things! read more

Stopped in with a couple of friends on a Saturday morning, and there were a few open tables, but not excessively so, which makes me seriously question why we were approached for our order by two different servers within 10 minutes of sitting. We hadn't even had our coffee poured by the time the first inquiry was made! It's not a large dining room, but it's bright and clean, with friendly staff. Jr's has a simple menu with just shy of the right amount of options. I did notice some glaring misspellings. Service was really quick, which I love. I ordered my typical: Eggs Benedict and was not impressed. Despite the large amount of hollandaise, everything was lackluster; the home fried were mushy and flavorless, the english muffin dry, and the hollandaise didn't help either. Prices were great, but I don't see the need to go back unless things significantly improve as the newness wears off. I do wish them the best of luck! read more

JR's is a wonderful little spot. I am both a cook in a professional kitchen and a waitress, both at a mew restaurant, and I can tell you there are 100 reasons why a new place is understaffed for a Saturday breakfast. So my husband and i didn't go for a Saturday breakfast, we went on a Wednesday afternoon. We were two of the maybe 6 people in the restaurant at 1 o'clock. I liked how bright and clean it was the moment we walked through the door. The menu is simple, with some Brazillian menu items sprinkled throughout. My husband sampled the linguica, which was SO good, and these little pastries filled with banana, and one with cheese. His favorote though was the Brazillian salad made of shredded chicken, carrots, raisins and crispy potato sticks on top. There were other things in it, i wish we had written it down. Our server was so sweet amd the cook helped bring the food over himself, always checking in to see how our food was. My friend got a basic breakfast of perfect over easy eggs, sausage links and toast. Her plate was mopped clean. I ordered Irish eggs benedict. The poached eggs were also perfect and the hollandaise was DELICIOUS. Just the right amount of butter and lemony tartness. We liked it so much we went back the next day before work. JR's is going to be in our regular breakfast and lunch rotation. read more

My husband, toddler, and I went to JRs for breakfast on a Sunday morning. There were only about 4 other tables with customers upon our arrival. We were greeted promptly and told to sit anywhere. The highchair we received was filthy and had all sorts of left-over food chunks on the seat: luckily, we use our own highchair cover... so no big deal... brushed it off and covered it up. We put in our drink order to two different waitstaff, but still waited over 15 minutes for coffee and 20 minutes for the soda because they were replacing the syrup in the soda machine. After we placed our food order, several customers came and went. We waited and waited and waited. After approximately 45 minutes, the table behind us that had arrived long after we placed our food order, got served. They were out the door before we even started eating. Our food finally came one hour after our arrival. Very grumpy daughter. Eggs "over easy" were not, in fact, over easy and there was way too much butter on the toast. The corned beef hash was wet, undercooked, and resembled something out of a can that is fed to a dog. The home fries were tasteless, dry, and undercooked. The pancake was very dry and overcooked... not even salvageable with maple syrup. $30 seemed like a lot for two simple breakfasts and one side pancake. Only accept cash tips, which we didn't know when we walked in. Overall, we are pretty easy to please when it comes to breakfast. Hands down, this is the worst breakfast experience we have ever had and will never be dining at JRs Diner ever, ever again. read more

I frequent this place with my 2 children - but not anymore... Arrived, placed our order, kids stated the milk tasted funny, I took the lid off to smell the milk: rancid milk. Spoke to the server (tall guy wearimg glasses), he goes over to the fridge behind the counter, checks date on jug: "it's only a week over expiration date,it's usually good for a couple of weeks after." Are you serious? If you want to consume expired food at your home, feel free, but you don't serve it to paying customers. Makes me wonder what other expired food they are serving. Never offered to take the milks off the menu. I will never be going back to this ****hole. read more

Jr's is a nice little family run breakfast and lunch spot right on the outskirts of Milford center. We have eaten there several times over the last year and have been really happy with everything. The lady the runs the place is really nice. She is from Brazil and if you ask her to can make you authentic Brazilian food. read more

This is probably the worst place in milford to go eat breakfast the food is lackluster and sometimes is not cooked and its overpriced. $5 for freshly squeezed Orange juice which is not even fresh! My husband and I went here for breakfast/ lunch. We noticed that on the menu it said cash only for tips. We off course didn't have cash. The bathroom was a puzzle to find. We ordered an omelette with home fries and two eggs with turkey sausage which was 3 dollars for two links. Very over priced. My husband ordered French fries instead of home fries and never got them. The funny part was that the server and the cook were fighting over the fact that the fries were never made lol. It was like I was eating at my grandmas house. Super funny. Then I asked her for a straw and she gave me one that was at the bottom of her apron that was completely crushed lol. I should have taken a picture. I've gone by this place many times and finally stopped to have breakfast. Firstly, do understand that there is parking in back or across the street, so you don't have to walk all that far. I did not know this and had a nice walk from far down the street. I had the standard breakfast and it was OK. The eggs were just fine, as as the bacon. Having chunks of potato made great home fries. The one thing that was a disappointment was that there were only two measly slices of bacon. For the price of the meal, I found that poor. Went here in a Sunday morning about 10:30. Started off good, the waitress came right over took order, drinks came out promptly. The place was not busy, several open tables & the counter only had a couple of people sitting there. NO FOOD for an hour. I have been to this diner twice. The first time was a party of 6 and the food was delicious. Everyone in the party was very pleased with the food and the service. So I was excited to go back a second time with my parents while they were in town visiting. But this visit was awful! The food was lackluster. The bacon had a really weird taste and the service wasn't nearly as good as it was the first time we went. I don't know what happened between May and October but I think next time I may take my visitors to Friendly's for breakfast. read more

This place look great from the outside. I came here with my wife and two kids. I ordered an omelet, which was overcooked on one side and raw on the other. My wife ordered blueberry pancakes which were burnt on one side and again undercooked on the other. Tasted like it was right out of the box. My kids both had pancakes, they were not great, but they did not complain. My daughter's meal came with a juice which she did not want so we never got it. After she ordered, my son ordered a juice and our waitress who turned out to be the owner would not let that juice be part of my daughter's meal (which was absurd). I again asked the owner and she right away said, No it was your son who ordered the juice. I ended up just paying as it wasn't worth it. We definitely will not be coming here again. Very very slow service ,food ok ...hash was bad ok for a dog it was from a can mushy and under cooked...50 minute wait , that was my last...my last visit . The kitchen looked like their was no sense of urgency as they ate watermelon and chit chatted... Service was awful! Charged .75 per egg white making it a $13 omelet!! Which was pretty good but not worth the price. When asked for a coffee refill to an already cold coffee she took it and microwaved it instead of giving more coffee or offering me a new cup of coffee. Pancakes were awful and I think reheated tasted like cardboard!!! My suggestion is to avoid this resturuant if your thinking of enjoying a breakfast. Newly reopened so they get a little beak on service which was a little slow. Parking good, breakfast all day. Pretty good food for the price. Lots of seats inside a clean, new, well lit room. I travelled to Milford on a business trip from California and stopped in Jr's Diner for breakfast. The selections are extensive, the food is absolutely flat-out great and the waitstaff is very friendly. My understanding is that they recently moved and have been at their new location for a couple of months now and naturally there is a transition to the new location. The restaurant is spacious and the parking is not an issue. Overall Great service, a friendly owner who makes the rounds to make sure all is well, and the most delicious breakfast choices in town. It was a wonderful experience to start my day in Milford, MA. I'm looking forward to my return trip to Milford, MA to stop by Jr's Diner, the owner has wonderful ideas for her new location.
