I should have turned and left when I first entered the door to a musty smell but had driven an hour to get there so we stayed. Our server Sandra was great and attentive. The salad was fresh and dressing good. We were given a plastic cup of spread cheese and three wrapped packages containing two crackers each, so tacky. We then were given some breads. The onion roll had pieces of what seemed like frozen chopped onions way too much cinnamon in the other roll. There was a women in the open area cooking the steaks and prime rib. However, you would think she was one of the servers since she has the same dress code. Show her some respect for her cooking skills and give her a nice shirt or at least an apron. Just left from my birthday celebration and spent $159.00 and the two prime ribs dinners we ordered are going to our dogs. They had NO seasonings. Mine was still mooing and had to send it back. The worst part we could see the "cook" use that term loosely, never changed her gloves. Picked up raw meat then wiped her fingers on her jeans used her cell phone and touched the almost cooked prime rib. Totally disgusting. We were there for close to 1 and a half hours. Food is great when they get your order done correctly, Can not beat the prices, cute and homey inside, friendly waitstaff, However the folks that come by and add water refills or take the dirty plates away, I can't help but notice they also take your left overs in the back to pack them up, word of advise , maybe not to pile the plate on top of the food that your are packing and taking home to eat for us. read more

My husband and I are visiting out of state for a nearby wedding, and this place is a quick drive away from our Airbnb. We wanted to say we really appreciated the restaurant and wait staff being accommodating and letting us eat outside with our pup even though it I think they planned to keep it closed, as we like to get him out of the Airbnb whenever feasible. Although the 2 female bartender's who came in at 4 were very nice, they were more focused on stocking and taking care of their regulars. Four First-timers at Dinner tonight: 2 beef eaters & 2 seafood fans. The Baby Back Ribs full rack & the Sirloin Steak medium well were delicious and both beef eaters enjoyed a good meal. The 2 seafood fans loved the variety of breads as well as the huge green salads, anticipating their fantastic entrees. Alas, it was not to be. The Lazy Man's Lobster Platter did not have a lot of good lobster meat or fine seasoning, and the Baked Sea Scallops were tiny pearl-like pieces, coated with bread crumbs, and a strange broth. We hadn't been here in many years, but decided to go for our anniversary. We were very happy with our dining experience. Brandon was our server. He went above and beyond our expectations of great service. He was helpful, friendly, and very attentive. I had the boiled lobster, which was delicious and came with enough drawn butter for a dozen. My husband had the 16 oz sirloin. He very much enjoyed it. I tasted it and it was very good and cooked exactly as requested. Drinks were good. I had a pistachio martini. Seems there has been a recent decline in food quality over the past year, but a significant increase in cost. Service is still very good and friendly. A couple items that are ok but sometimes inconsistent are the meatballs and pasta, and hamburger. The meatballs are huge but on more than one occasion have been dry or tough, also not enough pasta sauce so most of the spaghetti is wasted. The hamburger is usually overcooked no matter how it's ordered. Steak side dishes such as corn or bland mixed vegetables usually go untouched. We still go to NESS for their tasty cocktails, but usually have an appetizer or two as opposed to dinner. read more

I went 2 months ago on a Saturday, I called to make a reservation but they only do first come first serve, I went anyway. Arrived about 530 for dinner and was told 45 minutes so we hung out in the bar. I loved it, it is old timey with lots of chotskies handing from the walls and ceiling with a woodstove burning keeping us nice and toasty happened to be a pretty chilly evening so it was perfect. I would have been happy eating in the bar but it was busy as well. Our table was ready in about 40 minutes but I didn't mind the wait hanging in the bar having a couple beverages, great atmosphere, the waitress was super friendly and helpful. We got sat in the fire room which is adjacent to the main dining room but smaller and partioned off so it's quieter and it has a wonderful open heart that they burn real logs in, luved this too. I came for the prime rib and ordered that and was NOT disappointed, it was terrific, perfectly cook to my preference and tender and absolutely juicey. The meal comes with a ridiculously large fresh salad which I enjoyed along with a potato. Personally I really enjoy local old timey type restaurants like this, it's not overly fancy you'll never mistake it for Davio's (another personal favorite) but they are true to who they are, great meal at a great price in a very comfortable setting with exceptionally friendly folks serving it up. As a side note they did let me tend to the fire which was AWESOME and I did get a genuine "hello and come back and see us again" from one of the owners. My suggestion is go if you love prime rib in a casual comfortable setting with friendly welcoming people operating the place. read more

However, on a recent Saturday night, my husband and I didn't have the experience we were looking forward to. To sum it up: Service: Outstanding! Cocktails: Outstanding! Bussers: Outstanding! The meal...Not so much. I don't complain about the cost of food at a restaurant. However, I think $20 for the Bone-In Buffalo Chx app is outrageous, considering the wings were the tiny drumettes (Not the full-size wings they used to serve). My husband ordered the Chx Tenders app and they tasted like they were previously frozen. His Caesar salad was dry. My house salad was dry, hardly any dressing. Very surprising considering my years of past experience. I know the saying goes, "If you have to ask, you can't afford it" but hello? The prices for the steaks aren't published on the menu! Of course I was too embarrassed to ask, I didn't want them to think I couldn't afford it (because I could), so I ordered the 12 oz sirloin, rare. I was so disappointed. The flavor wasn't there. It wasn't seared. It actually had a weird taste (as did the mushrooms) and it didn't have that "beefy, seared flavor" I was looking forward to. Worst of all, it was hot as hell in there!!! Stopped for lunch while doing some holiday shopping with a friend. The atmosphere is great - very friendly, casual and rustic. We were greeted and seated right away. The seasonal cocktails beckoned and I ordered a holiday sangria. It was really good and not a stingy pour! For lunch, we ordered the Fish Burger (which is actually a fried fish sandwich, but I liked saying it) and the Hot Pastrami sandwich. Both came with fries, which were very good. Our meals arrived quickly and piping hot. A nice surprise was the bread basket that arrived with our drinks - warm spice cake and cinnamon roll. An unexpected luxury at lunchtime! My fish was a generous portion of lightly battered haddock. The pastrami was very lean. The brioche rolls were a very nice touch. Another nice touch was that the manager came by twice - once to greet us and again to inquire after our food and determine our satisfaction. I am always impressed and pleased by this gesture. Our server was decent. Our apps were good. Cheese and crackers served before meal were meh. Every single package of crackers were delivered smashed. Salads had way to much onions no cucumbers and one little tomato. Meat on the main meal dishes were ok,but the sides of cauliflower were over cooked and burnt and loaded potatoes weren't cooked fully. Server took them back only to return them the same way. The service has always been great and they give you a good amount of food semi-family style where you get salad, side and veggie with any of the meat options (and of course the cinnamon rolls!). Few in our party that got it thought the prime rib was just mediocre for all the hype this place gets. I had a sirloin cut that was also good but nothing out of this world. This is somewhere I would only stop by if nothing else was in the area, which there really isn't where it is located. I have sent back my steak 3 times in 10 years. this time, the waitress took it upon herself to educate me in my ignorance on how to properly order a steak in her restaurant.
