Holy customer service. I can't believe how patient the woman helping me was. First, she asked a bunch of questions about my for pain. I was able to get a comfortable paper of work boots after 2 hours of trying on. I was told to go here by more than one person, finally did. I like the small store over chains. read more

I went to JR's right before closing time on Sunday and was greeted with a friendly smile by Eliza. I thought I was going to be in and out but realized after speaking with Eliza how important it is for my new work boots to fit really well since I'll be on my feet most of the day. She was very knowledgable and she had me try on a variety of boots in different sizes, different styles and from different manufacturers. She gave me a pair of socks that were really comfortable for trying on the 8 inch high boots. I liked the socks so much I bought a package of them as well. I have been to this place twice now for my work boots. By far the best customer service I have ever received. I got my Converse Stealth both times from here. The owner also modified my shoes each time to perfectly fit my feet. If he has to work in the back he gives you a candy bar for your time. Also they insist you take a walk in the shoes before you purchase. The entire visit was filled with funny little stories, excellent customer service, and a candy bar. How can you get much better than that. I also got free laces and shoe polish with my boots as well as a hand written postcard in the mail thanking me for my business. You will never find another business that has this kind of service. Definitely the top of my list. read more

Right Fit, right boots!! Been going here for over or near 12 years .... need I say more. The man himself; JR, helped me. His joke of the day and made me wear the boot outside, "walk in it !" he says... if it hurts its not for you." and trying on different types and oh yeh , the snickers bar. The attention, committment for your feet and care given in each boot is outstanding. They not only make sure you have the right boots but the boot oil or shoe cream and instruction on how to take care of them. These guys aren't joking around. You are taken care of here. Every boot after and since has been the right one. This last visit I bought 2 pair, different styles because i couldn't decide on which not only felt great but looked great. JR wasn't in but i surely made note to let him know it wouldn't be the same without his time or place. read more

Sweetest old man. All about customer service and making sure you leave happy and comfortable. Greeted us with a candy bar and some silly jokes. Very friendly and helpful. Great experience! I went in here to buy my first pair of boots for firefighting and Eddie was AMAZING. Super helpful and got us a great deal on a starter pair. Service was above and beyond and the staff were super helpful. I got a great pair of boots at an even better price and will definitely come back for my next pair of boots. Jay is a very nice guy but dont take his hours of operation sign literally. Lately he gets in well after 10:30 and leaves well before 6. I recommend this shop but your best bet is to come in around noonish. read more

The owner, Jay, I believe is his name is incredibly friendly. Has a wide range of boots and shoes to select from in the back of the store, although all of them are not on display up front. Tell him what you want and he will bring back a selection for you to choose from. Was very gracious I came in, even though i didnt end up buying anything at the time. He gave me tips for buying steel toe shoes and even suggested a couple of other retailers without me even asking. Gave me a candy bar and a corny joke before I left. The store that i went to was in Mesa, not in maricopa. I highly suggest dropping in to see Jay. read more

Stopped by quickly yesterday in between running some errands and was rudely stopped at the door and was told by a lady that I couldn't just walk through the store that her and I needed to chat. After telling her that I didn't have time to chat she informed me that this store is not like Payless, I can't just walk through and look, I would have to speak with her. Horrible customer service and not welcoming at all. It was the strangest experience I have ever had at a store. My husband and I will gladly take our business somewhere else. read more
