It has been several years since my last review and I need to refresh it for 2026: they're still as good as when I reviewed them previously. I mostly buy shoes here. I use a mix of road and trail shoes and I need "stability" shoes due to my amazing ankles. The young lady who helped me noticed that as soon as I took off my boots, so I figured she'd be helpful. I'm not terribly picky about colors or brands, though I've got some favorites and generally know what I need. I tried on a couple of pairs and purchased some new road shoes during this visit. Simple and fast! (At least one of those describes me.) Can I get shoes cheaper online? Sure. Would I get the same level of service and instant Q&A/ feedback with the opportunity to actually try them on? Not a chance. Should I support a local business? Is that even a question?!? It has been a few years since I last purchased from cadence running, but every day as I grab my shoes, I recall my last encounter. Yes, it has bothered me that much that I finally decided to write about it as maybe that will help me get the negative experience off of my heart. First of all, I was referred to Cadence by my podiatrist. He recommended a specific zero drop shoe and the gentleman who waited on me at Cadence was exceptionally helpful. I subsequently purchased many replacement shoes over the years at Cadence, each time assisted by one of the kind, professional, and personable male staff members. The last time I went in there, the only staff there was a blonde-haired woman who wore impressive, expensive jewelry. She was standing at the computer and barely glanced up as I entered the shop. I was happy to have a chance to work with a female there for the first time. I smiled, told her what I was looking for, and she looked ticked off and annoyed by my presence. Mind you, I'm not their typical running client. I am older and heavier, but love to exercise. She grudgingly produced a few pair of shoes for me to try on. None fit and she appeared particularly perturbed and put out by that. She glumly offered to order other options online and have them delivered to me, but at that point I was feeling so demeaned by her attitude toward me that I said that I would do it myself, and left. I got the impression she may be a co-owner of the store. But if that is her general demeanor, I suggest she leave customer interaction with her more inclusive, respectful, and hospitable staff. read more

Phenomenal running shop - I love to support local business but sometimes it can feel like you are aiming low by going since they can't offer all the same "luxuries" as a big box store. Cadence running company tosses that out the window. The staff is extremely knowledgeable, they have a wide selection but nobody will push you into some junk you don't need. I've been a runner for nearly a decade but only recently got more serious about it. I have always had a hard time picking shoes and knowing what I want. I am sorry I can't remember your name sir but I believe the owner helped me out. He actually sat down with me, helped me figure out my feet and what would work best for me, then had me try on several options. I was even set on a pair but he didn't like the way my cadence looked so he gave me another - somehow, they were even better. I was prepared to spend 300$ because I really wanted to get it right. I was pointing at crazy expensive pairs and he was totally honest "yeah don't bother, these (the pair he picked out) fit your needs for XYZ so just save a buck". WOW. You will not regret coming here. Prices are fairly reasonable but the knowledge is what sold me. Even if you know what you want, you get to support a local business by dropping in for a pair. I had a great experience at Cadance!!! I've had plantar fascitis for years and it just keeps coming back. My physical therapist wants me to try getting off my orthotic inserts and suggested seeing the guys at Cadence. They were so helpful!! I walked away with a new pair of awesome shoes! I went to this store after a terrible experience at RoadRunner. The man that helped me was super helpful with assisting me on picking the right shoe for me without trying to sell a bunch of add-ons that some other stores tend to do. I found a shoe that I am 100% confident in. It fits perfectly, which he even made sure of, has no hot spots, and doesn't "need" custom insoles to make it "right". You may be able to tell I'm a little bitter with my experience at another store, but all this to say that I LOVED my experience here and I would recommend them to anyone. I love cadence because they know what they're talking about and it comes from experience. I wish I would have gone to them from the start.I got my first pair of real running shoes from a competitor several years back. I had been up sold on the custom insoles and gait analysis and fitted for a shoe. Within a few months I was having pretty chronic pain and needed to do something about it. I stopped in to cadence to get their opinion and they fit me for a neutral shoe instead of the aggressive control shoe and insert that I had. I didn't want to change anything and risk making it worse on myself so I went to my physical therapist. After a few sessions she said that I definitely needed a neutral shoe with a wider toebox. I went back to cadence and got the shoes I needed and haven't had issues since. More recently, my Salomon trail shoes started to wear too quickly. I initiated a warranty claim with Salomon, cadence was able to give me proof of purchase and I will soon have a new pair of shoes. I'll have to stop by to pick up some electrolyte mix and some gels to fuel the long runs I'm about to put through my new shoes. read more

I went here looking for the Hoka bondi 7 shoes for work. As a nurse, comfort for the 12 hour shifts are a must! These shoes are the best I've found! Also while I was there I lucked up on some Oofos. When I tried them on my feet were on cloud NINE!! I have recently been diagnosed with planter fasciitis and my feet hurt so much, these Oofos were a god send! I've been getting my shoes from Cadence Running Company for several years. The first time I visited, I was really impressed with the time the salesman spent in helping me understand my pattern of running, and find a shoe that would work best for the way my body is built, to create minimal negative impact on my joints in the long run. Even though I was interested in a more expensive shoe, they wanted me to buy the one that was right for me, even though they'd make less profit for themselves. Super Comfortable but don't work with my orthotics. Gave me a really bad blister when I used with the orthotics prescribed by my Podiatrist! They've put me into several great pairs of shoes. I especially love the trail runners they put me into. They also did a full price trade-in with a pair of running shoes that didn't work for me with no questions or any hassles. They host many running events and organize weekly running group workouts. I went to the store looking for a pair of trail running shoes (not really for running but for easy hiking). The gentleman who helped me out was very knowledgeable and he knew exactly the type of shoes I'm looking for after I told about my high arch and my problems with plantar fasciitis. I tried on Brooks, Saucony (one of my go to brands), Hoka, Saloman and even Nike. I have never had any Nike shoes fit my feet but the two pairs he brought out both fit me well. I am very impressed by the selection of shoes they have, both in variety and in quality. He also took the time to show me how to work the laces on the Saloman as it is one of those triathlon no-tie shoe laces. I wasn't very decisive but he was patient as I tried to choose the right pair. I am so pleased with their service that I will definitely come back when I need another pair of running shoes. I went into Cadence looking to purchase a pair of Hoka shoes for work. I am on my feet for 12 hours a day and had heard that they are the most comfortable shoes for people within the medical field. Now, I could have just went online and saved $20-30 but I wanted the convience of walking out with the shoes right away. I had 2 different experiences at this store within 2 days. Going into a small business like theirs I was banking on having a personalized good experience but unfortunately that is not what I got. I walked in and was greeted by a salesman, I can't remember his name because he didn't introduce himself or ask for mine. I told him right away I was there to look at Hoka and try them on. For him, that is an easy sale experience. He didn't have to ask me any qualifying questions to try to see what shoe is right for me, I told him exactly what I wanted and why I wanted them. He told me that I needed to be "fitted/sized" for the shoe which I thought was a tad strange but went with it anyways. Normally I am a 7.5 in any other running shoe, tennis shoe, etc. Right away he told me that's not my size and grabbed an 8 and had me try it on. Now, I wasn't very comfortable with that and I told him. He said that because we bend our feet our foot slides up and there needs to be room. That does make sense to me and I understood where he was coming from but I was frustrated with the fact that he not only didn't catch my verbal disagreement with the size but also the non verbal signs. He then told me the 8 wasn't large enough and got an 8.5. We are talking a whole size bigger now, which this shoe isn't small. I by nature trip over air and these shoes were a full inch too large. I again gave more push back but I felt as though he wasn't going to let me purchase the 7.5 that I initially wanted. I understand as a salesman that you need to make recommendations based on experience and knowledge but that should only be after some rapport and trust has been built. I am going into this store for a good sales experience, knowing that I am going to spend over $130 on a pair of shoes. Yes I want suggestions on what you think is best, but I also want you to listen to me when I push back. Sales is about listening to the consumer, building trust, so that not only they purchase from you but they purchase again, and then send in referrals. Its clear that this store is very knowledgeable on running, and I understand that's maybe where I failed. If a consumer comes in to purchase a pair of shoes for something other than running I would suggest that you state that most of your knowledge of these shoes are based on running from personal experience/fact, I honestly can't speak to the medical field but I can make some suggestions for you. As humans we ask questions to better understand something especially when its different from something we are use to. If I ask why you would suggest something, honestly tell me and skip the snarky attitude. I was already uncomfortable going into a "running store" for a pair of shoes that only they had, and then to have the experience I did just nailed it in the coffin that I was completely out of my element. I have the potential to spend any amount of money a runner does, and the potential to buy again, send referrals, etc. To treat a non-runner like they don't belong in a store purchasing something is bad business. If you read the reviews on this place all the good ones are people within the running community, the bad ones are from people that don't run... which says to me that they got treated like an outsider like I did. I ended up purchasing the 8.5, and asked what if I don't wear them, and the owner snapped, "why wouldn't you wear them?". Ahhhh... I don't know because they are a full size bigger than what I normally wear? I went back the next day to exchange and I was greeted by a female this time. I was happy that the same 2 people weren't there but the same ol' attitude lingered. Long story short I put my foot down literally and said I wanted an 7.5. I said these shoes were $150, and I want the size I want. After pushback, a snide comment or 2 she obliged. Which I am grateful for. In the end I got what I wanted, so I am happy. They are a small business and they didn't have to exchange them, and I understand that. I will not be going back to this location and more than likely any other running shoe store like this again. I get a better sales experience at Dicks with a teenager than I did at this place and I spent twice as much. I will be purchasing online straight from the manufacturer and saving the extra $20-30 in the future. My rating is based on them exchanging the shoes and giving what I wanted, not based on sales experience the experience itself would be a big fat 0. read more

These guys are legit. Their team of associates are all professionals...and not just in their business, as runners (triathletes). I have issues with planter fasciitis, surgically repaired Achilles tendon, and toenails missing/filling with blood. Recently increased shoe size and type of shoe. From another company's suggestion. Nope! Worked with Matt. He asked simple questions, then walked to the back pulled out a pair shoes... Had me do a light jog... and said, these are the shoes you need. Yup! When I started running, my knees would ache so badly, they were unusable after my first couple outings. I tried ice, patches, creams, braces, anything to ease the pain (why, oh why did I sign up to finish a race). Then I was told to have my gait examined at a running shoe store, which I thought sounded logical but couldn't possibly drastically improve my situation. I was wrong. After I was examined and outfitted with a good running shoe, my knee pain was completely gone after every run I used them. Amazing how a slight adjustment of support can change everything. All this just to say, shoes can make the difference between a good experience and a miserable one. I will never again arbitrarily buy a shoe online or off the shelf without consulting the experts. So when my son needed good shoes for marching band practice (which is a lot more grueling I think either of us expected), we knew to find a good running shoe store. And we came to the right place. The staff here were friendly and attentive and helped carefully pick out a good shoe to support his particular needs and the activity. We were there for maybe 15/20 minutes and left with exactly what we needed. I feel confident after our visit that this was the best decision. Thank you for the help! P.S. This place is amazing! We were sent here on the recommendation of a friend because I've had a lot of problems with my feet lately, and even though the guy that helped us was the only one there and multitasking between several customers, I still felt like he was addressing my individual needs perfectly. When we first got there he asked a ton of questions about what had been hurting me, how long, what shoes was I wearing, etc. He gave some suggestions and got me in a pair of shoes. He had me walk around in them and then watched me run in them and put me in several different pairs and repeated the same process, asking what I thought about them and giving recommendations each time. So helpful! The root of the problem was something that hadnt ever been suggested to me before so hopefully he's right and my feet will be better now. I bought a pair of Hoka at Cadence. I really liked the shoes, but... after just 3.5 months of walking 1 to 2 miles, once or twice a week the rubber on the bottom started to separate. I went into Cadence asking if anyone else had the same issue. There was no real customer service, they suggested I glue them, contact Hoka. Even went as far as saying that walking is harder on shoes than running and that it wasn't uncommon. 160$ should last longer in my opinion. Zero help from the staff, clearly my problem and I will resolve it. I also won't be shopping at this store again. read more
