I was apprehensive to come here based on the reviews and I should have listened to my gut. My items were supposed to be ready on Monday. I arrived on Tuesday (so a day later than they were due) to be told they're not done yet. What's so frustrating about this experience is that my contact information is on the ticket. All she had to do was give me a call and let me know she was running late, but instead, she allowed me to waste my time driving there to leave empty handed and having to return. There are several reviews citing the exact same experience I had, so proceed with caution if you choose to come here. I have to get a lot of my clothing tailored, but won't be returning. I brought in my sons band pants to be taken out a week before his performance date. Immediately the woman at the counter reacted as though I did not give her enough time because it's prom season. It's a simple hem! No measuring, just take them out as long as they can go. I offered to take them somewhere else but she said no, she would do it. Anyway, she said I could get them the day of his performance at noon. On the order receipt it said noon, but under that, it said 'pick up 4:30pm.' Whatever. 2 hours before performance time he will finally have his pants and I hope they will fit. So my husband goes in to get them on the big day & she acts like she has no idea about the pants. After some looking, she tells him she just forgot to do the job! Come back in an hour. So he leaves, comes back in an hour and then she says, we only take cash. So he leaves AGAIN to go get cash. The pants were fine, but honestly, too much trouble for a 5 minute hem job. I'll never take anything to be altered there again nor would I recommend this place. read more

I originally brought it to another seamstress that made several mistakes and would not take accountability for them, so I frantically searched for other places to fix my dress (at this time, the wedding was in 2.5 weeks out). J called me after her business hours to call me back and was able to get me in 2 days after I called, fixed my dress (even several flaws that the original seamstress ignored) just in time for the wedding and for a very reasonable price. Like many others who've set off looking for a tailor, I was invited to be in a wedding and they needed my measurements for the suit. I looked through many places and wrote down a lot of numbers, but this place caught my eye with the pictures. So I called up Yolanda (the owner) and she gave me the earliest time available and told me to bring a list of the measurements I needed. After work and before dreading the next driving stretch home, I stop by and find this classic small business with real wood floors and a picture filled walled of thank you notes from past customers. My measurements were taken in front of 5 precisely angled mirrors, while I was informed why they measured to to a certain point and given suggestions for the future as well. As I was about to leave, I remembered two coats that I bought and never wore because of their fit, so I turned around and made another appointment. The coats are back and they are lookin' slicker than a patch of ice covered in olive oil. Sorry, but as I type with one of these jackets on, I feel like anything I say is worth putting in a screenplay ... yeaaaaah not sorry. I was looking for a tailor in the area that would alter a dress that I wanted to wear for a wedding; I loved the style of it but it was way too big for me and didn't even know what I could do to it to make it fit. I've had some places deny what I wanted done to a dress because they said it wouldn't be possible, so I was afraid that was going to happen. I've also had some bad experiences at other places as well. I brought my dress into J's Tailoring and didn't even think I would be able to have my dress altered only 2 and a half weeks away from the wedding. However, Jolanta made that possible and I was incredibly pleased with her work. I am someone who is fairly particular with how I like things to fit on me and Jolanta was very honest and I trusted her opinions. I came in for a second fitting 2 weeks later and I was already amazed at the work she had done and only needed minor adjustments. When I came back to pick up the dress right before the wedding I chose not to try it on there because I was in somewhat of a hurry and when I tried it on at home it fit absolutely perfectly. I thought that the price was fairly reasonable considering how much I did have done to the dress. Jolanta is very nice and does a good job with altering clothes. However, the last fitting for my wedding dress I didn't feel like the boob area was secure and that the dress was too tight. She assured me that it had to be tight to hold the dress up since it was strapless. I told her I felt like it needed to be looser, but she said I don't have time. Last night I tried my dress on again And my mom couldn't hook the dress. She attempted to move the hook, but to no avail did it make the dress hook. So here I am on my wedding day having my moms friend who is a seamstress alter my dress. I'm very stressed and disappointed. I brought 7 pairs of women's ankle dress pants to Jolanda that have just been sitting in my closet because the waist was too big and I did not want to wear a belt with the pants. I finally caved and decided I needed to bring these to a tailor in order to get some wear out of them. Because my last experience at a tailor was extremely overpriced, I asked Jolanda if it would be possible to just put darts in the waist band in hopes of saving a few bucks. She said "I won't do that because I only do things to proper way." So, I let her pin up the pants with her expertise and within a week later she said she would have all 7 pairs ready. Went to pick them up and tried them on later that night, holy goodness! I am so happy I finally went and especially to J's Tailoring. They fit so well and look amazing. You could't even tell that she took in the seam along the back center, the tags were resewn on and prints matched up perfectly at the new seams. I even asked her to leave the extra fabric and she said she wouldn't cut it, which I thank her for! Just for reference they were a mix of Banana Republic and Express dress pants. A much better experience than anywhere else I have been for tailoring and alterations, she definitely knows what she is doing and at a fair price too! I will be needing to get a bridesmaid dress from David's Bridal altered in the near future and will be back to visit Jolanda as I know her work is outstanding and honest, compared to not knowing the skill level or what I am getting into at David's Bridal. read more

Not sure if it was cigarette smoke or something else, but man it was strong and headache-inducing. If I had just walked in without reading any reviews, I would have walked straight out right then and there for fear that it would get into my clothes. However, I decided to give this place a chance since many people had raved about their wedding dress alterations here and maybe my nose was just sensitive that day. I left my dress with her for 7 days. The hem itself was fine and the turnaround was quick. However, I brought the dress home with me only to find that it had soaked up all the odors in the shop and smelled completely of smoke. Wow! I came here to get a prom dress altered. It needed to be taken in on the sides, hemmed up, and needed to add a bustle. Because of the design of the dress, a lot of work was required.
