I got for Christmas two pairs of cargo pants, but unfortunately they were too long in the pant legs. I was looking for a tailor or place for alterations. I saw that Magic Touch was close by, so I gave them a try. After setting an appointment, I went there and the lady was nice and I explained what I wanted done. I am a short pear-shaped woman. I met Jouhaina more than 15 years ago, and she has been doing all of my alterations for all of that time. There is pretty much nothing that I can buy off the rack and wear it. I completely trust Jouhaina's judgment. I frequently take things to her and ask her opinion, in terms of whether she thinks the item is flattering on me or not, and whether it can be altered to be flattering or not. Contacted Jouhaina to have a dress hemmed and needed a somewhat quick turnaround. She was able to fit me in immediately that day, which I appreciated. She was very nice, direct and clearly knows what she's doing. She was able to have the dress done in the requested timeframe. I will say her pricing was quite steep to have a dress hemmed, however, she was very convenient for me to get to, and the fact that she was able to complete it rather quickly was a big factor. I brought my rehearsal dinner jumpsuit to this vendor to have it shortened. Tried it on with the flat sandals I planned on wearing with it for Johanna and she marked it up with white chalk. When I went to pick up the jumpsuit for the wedding weekend she did not have me try it on again. Just handed it to me and took $160 for alterations! I dressed for the rehearsal dinner and saw that there were no alterations made to it (no new hem) and I was walking all over extra fabric at this special dinner! When I texted her that evening she did not deny it. Just said, can you bring it over tomorrow and try it on again for me! Wow! She knew I had the wedding to attend the following day and besides that, the event it was intended for had already came and went. Feel I was duped! This is a late review. I purchased a dress online that came on short notice for a New Year's Eve wedding. The breast pads were in the wrong place, making the dress look like I had double breasts. Not only was she able to take me at short notice, but she also did an excellent job not destroying a very inexpensive dress. She had a lot going on but demonstrated such good customer service. LONG REVIEW: I was very disappointed and frustrated with my experience with Magic Touch Alterations. I brought my wedding dress here in June (2024) and she was able to get me in promptly and had my dress done by July 31 2024. My wedding was October 5th 2024. She had to hem the dress and make little spaghetti straps and charged over $700. I wasn't aware of average prices for alterations so I thought this was normal. When I tried on my dress, I kept fixing the straps because they seemed very loose and she said it was perfect how it was. I pointed out another flaw in the fabric and she said "that's just how the dress is, that's it." So I brought my dress home and just thought whatever. After trying my dress on 3 weeks before the wedding, I felt very uncomfortable in my dress because the straps were too loose. I did not feel comfortable bringing my dress back here because her demeanor was not kind and she felt very rushed the entire time. She dismissed several things I brought up about the dress. I knew she had recently lost her brother and I did not want to bother her. I ended up bringing my dress to another seamstress to get it fixed right before the wedding. Not only were the straps 1.5 inches too long, but Magic Touch did not reinforce the buttons on the bustle so they were about to fall off. She also said she sewed in the straps wrong. The other seamstress was able to fix the other flaw I pointed out to Magic Touch (and that she ignored). I asked the other seamstress how much the total would have been if I went to her originally and she said about $350. So I paid almost double the price for a simple hem and straps and for her to ignore all the other issues with the dress. After my meeting with my other seamstress, I called Magic Touch and explained my frustration while respecting her time for grieving due to the unexpected loss in her family. I felt bad for bringing this up during that time, but I was frustrated and felt completely ripped off. She said she was going through a hard time because of her loss, but I reminded her that my dress was completed in the end of July, well before the time of her recent tragedy. After repeating my frustration again, she apologized and said she would give me a refund. I assumed she would have given $200-$300 back, considering she made so many mistakes and completely ignored the details but she only gave $100 back. Then comes the wedding and one of the straps (that she sewed in incorrectly) broke right after the ceremony. I sent her a messaged letting her know about the strap that broke and never heard back. So long story short, I would not recommend Magic Touch Alterations. She was rude, felt rushed, lacked attention to detail, and completely ripped me off. Not to mention- my sister went to her to get her maid of honor dress altered and was told the dress was way too small on her but if she added cups (for $50) it would fix it. wrong, it was way too big, she ended up buying a new dress in a smaller size. so yet another rip off. read more

First, this place is in a house basement. Second, she charged AN INSANE amount to just hem a dress - no alterations, literally just hemming 3 inches. And third, the quality was crap - especially for how much she charged me. I wish I would have just taken my dress in to an actual shop. Don't waste your money. read more

Jouhaina was a miracle worker. I brought my bridesmaid dress to her, which let me tell you is 2 dress sizes too big. I wasn't sure if it can be done, but I just picked up my dress and the structure was preserved, it fits, and the chest padding gives me some shape! After reading reviews that Jouhaina was wonderful with "rush jobs", I contacted her regarding my wedding dress. She was quick at answering my e-mail and asked me to call to discuss my dress alterations. My wedding is 7 weeks out and when I told her what I wanted ( shortening length and corset tie) she wanted to set up an appointment for tomorrow morning- unfortunately I work M-F during the day. I had an excellent experience at Magic Touch Alteration- in a somewhat impulsive move, I bought a tuxedo for my husband less than a week before a black tie event. The suit store, and every other alterations company, told me they needed 2-3 weeks to alter the tux! I found her listing on the internet and I decided to try her ( my usual tailor is very near downtown and I just did not want to make the drive ( my mistake ) When I called her she was not sure she could fit me in I explained I was off that day but we can make it another time ,all she kept saying was you off today you off today so when I finally got that thru her head and I live 10 minutes form her she said come in now so I did ( I did not realize she worked out of her house) all I needed was a pair of brand new pants shortened well as I was trying them on I apologized for coming into her home I thought she had a store front so then tells me if I am not happy with that maybe I should leave (and I was ) but I had already changed so I went thru with it ( also I did not have my pants on a hangar and she wanted one, any way I sent my wife to pick them up on Sat. she handed them to my wife in a ball all wrinkled no hangar they did not have a wrinkle on them now I have a huge crease running down one of the legs charged $20 while everyone else is $12-$14 and one leg is shorter than the other I will never go back stay away and I did not see a license hanging up do not go here stay away she does not deserve a star anyone who wants I will talk to in person and send you to my regular tailor read more
