One of the guys left tons of cigarettes in my lawn and they also left a few spikes dispersed in the lawn that they use to nail down the barrier to the paver walkway. This wasn't a cheap job by any means, but the end quality has been poor. About 6 months after the walkway was finished, we had weeds and grass coming through the pavers. Upon closer inspection, barely and sand/sealant was in between the pavers. Now, barely 1.5 years later, we have to have someone come and remove all the growth between the pavers and reseal. I could tell they rushed the end of the job because Hao himself came to quickly sweep some sand into the pavers then rushed out. When I remarked about the spikes and cigarettes, he told me he always tells his workers to not do it, but they always do.

I…read moreinitially thought the entire board would need to be replaced, but Joe and Rex determined that the wood rot wasn't as prevalent as I had thought, and they recommended repairing, sealing, and giving the wood a good thick paint cover (a considerably less expensive job!). I really appreciated their honesty and found their pricing to be very comparable. They were speedy, very friendly, and cleaned up so that I never knew they were there - except of course for my clean new fascia board. Additionally, I am a real estate agent and have hired GeRoy Construction to handle several handy-man type projects for my clients (again - very thorough, honest, and price competitive.) Excavators NW used a simple inexpensive fix and since then my basement has been dry. We had been quoted by others nearly 10 times what Excavators NW charged. Excavators NW had a much better understanding of the drainage and reasons for the flooding. Their repair included partial sewer drain replacement, French drain, and a sump pump, all of which were a lot less costly and made more sense for our 90-year-old Ballard home than what other companies proposed. I found out Excavators NW do a lot of work to keep houses dry since most of their business is lifting houses and putting in new basements. I knew nothing about the process but was curious and the owner was very accommodating in explaining how he keeps his customers basements forever dry. Super knowledgeable and super nice guy too. After explaining my goals, he did by far the best job of explaining in detail what the process was going to look like, each step he was going to take, what materials he was going to use, and more importantly the "why" behind everything. This was confidence inspiring to someone who isn't intimately knowledgeable about construction, as it helped educate me on what to look for when shopping for quotes. When you're spending thousands of dollars on a project you generally want to know what you're getting, otherwise you simply place the trust on the contractor to not cut corners. Not only did David provide a detailed documentation of every step he planned to take, he pointed out the details in person while the project was ongoing.
