They have always done stellar work and carry high quality products. Unfortunately one of our Hunter Douglas shades of the mid 90s had a failed cord due to its extended use in a bedroom. When I called to see if it could be restrung, I learned the sad news that they cannot, due to federal safety laws regarding the child strangulation prevention measures of current manufacture. A good thing for children of course, but a complication for homeowners. We went out to their facility and worked with one of their designers and chose a shade similar enough in color and style to fit in our home. We ordered the product and waited about 4 weeks until it arrived. We picked it up and planning to install it ourselves, having done so for some of the older ones in the past. As it turned out, the method of install is so different now, the tools required and the shape of the brackets now also different, we were unable to do it. I called the designer and asked if we could have an installer after all. She contacted installation and got me the contact to set it up. Today the installer got here, a true professional, on time and with tools in hand, had it done in under 20 minutes. Nothing like having the skills and the tools and the height to do it with ease. We felt very fortunate and the price to do this was very reasonable. I will continue to use Innovative Openings for all of our window coverings. One more note, if you do have an older Hunter Douglas window shade product in your home with any small plastic fasteners or pull tabs for the old cord system that have cracked with age or high altitude sun exposure like ours, those parts can be ordered directly from Hunter Douglas online. It is simple to replace most of these parts. The parts are free and I was only charged a minimal shipping fee. I was able to get about 7 pieces. I was able to match colors for past products up to nearly 20 years old. I did those replacements myself. I even switched one to the same color but a different shape to better match the older blinds in the adjacent room. It's the internal cord system on the older blinds that they can no longer re-string. If you want to prevent replacing, be very gentle on them as they age.

We saw a demonstration of the then Quality Exterior Products, now known as Quality Awning's, European Rolling Shutters. Benefits were security, temperature management, and sunlight control. Mom suffered from severe migraines. Being able to close out daylight during an attack was a greatly desired feature. We tried having 3M Window tint applied to all south and east facing windows, and that wasn't good enough. We'd installed thermo-lined draperies throughout the home, and they didn't do the job. We had Quality give us an estimate, and still waited a year. We contacted Pat at the next Garden and Home Show. and chose to go ahead with the installation. The price quoted was the same as the original estimate, even after a year. We noticed a huge difference in our utility bills that year!! Pat and family are great to work with. When we decided to upgrade our windows, We had Pat come to remove and then re-install our shutters, right over those gorgeous new windows. As this company had installed the awning and I lived relatively close, we both agreed scheduling the movement didn't seem like it would be too far out. The rest of the week passed and I didn't hear back from Pat. The following Tues my phone rant and it was Pat. Figuring he wanted to schedule an appt, I grabbed a pen and got ready. Not to be. He was in my driveway with no advance notice to allow time to ready my dog or myself. So I show Pat how far it needs to be moved over and he tells me to move the awning over the price will be $450!! That is double the cost of the labor for the original install. Then he asked me to pay in check or cash to avoid paying the charge on visa machine due to, you guessed it, 'inflation'. The only word he would say over and over is 'inflation'. Now I highly doubt he doubled the salary of his employees in the 8 or so years since I had the awning installed, so where is the 'inflation' going to unless it's pure profit to him? Not sure how many uniformed people he installs awnings for, but inflation is caused by companies (like Quality Awning) charging more because they CAN. Don't pay it and inflation will go down. Remember when people weren't traveling during the pandemic and gas prices fell? Same idea. Supply and demand people.

I called and called and called, left messages and finally received a call back, each and every time. I can't count how many times I had to have his workers come out to repair my awning. Not only did they come out to repair it, each and every time a worker came out it was a different worker. They kept quitting or getting fired, and basically hated what they were doing. Now, it's been 3 years and I've attempted to call his office (the phone is no longer in service). Called his cell number (the number is no longer in service). Called the company's phone and it went to voice mail, but I did get a number to call, so I called it. I believe Ron answered can kept saying "hello, hello, hello". Apparently he either didn't hear me or didn't want to speak with me. I've left messages on his work phone to call me, I've texted him on his cell phone - crickets is all I hear. All I wanted is to have someone come out and adjust this awning since one side is much lower than the other. Sure I can watch Youtube and most likely do it myself, but why??
