I'd had both garage doors replaced about 3 years ago. Last week, one of the doors caught a loop of it's own cable and self-destructed. I called JT, and Steve came the next morning. He spent much of the morning pounding it back to shape, and added reinforcements. It looks fine now, though still creaky on opening. I'd expected that JT would take some responsibility, since Jason had done the installation. Nope. Steve attributed it to my garage "sinking", though there is otherwise zero evidence of this, no cracks in the foundation, and my house has been stable since about 1982. I was charged $270 for the work. My last garage doors lasted over 20 years without problems. Overall, JT seems to do basically competent work, but doesn't take ownership of downstream problems which they are responsible for. Based upon this experience I am lowering my rating to 3 stars, and I am feeling that is probably generous. read more

The garage door on the house that I just purchased was misaligned, missing a sensor on one side, and was manually locked by the previous owner. The below was done in Friendswood, Texas... My previous post for JT Garage Door Systems was absolutely correct BUT be warned that when calling Mr. Jason Teel for an issue, after the repairs, may not go as you would expect. Yes, he was professional and prompt while doing the work but unfortunately afterwards was a problem...to explain...it was noticed a day or so after the repairs that the garage door was still not working as it should. I called Mr. Teel explaining my problem which he then gave me a possible solution of re-programming the garage door limits. He did not tell me this may be needed after replacing a cable and realigning the wheels on the garage. He proceeded to tell me to look it up online myself as to how to do this, which was fine. I did as he suggested but unfortunately this did not do the trick. I called Mr.Teel again and told him the issue I was having and could he please come back out to see what may be going on. Long story short, he did nothing but want to argue with me as to why the work he did could not be causing the issues. All I was asking was for him to come and take a quick look to make sure there wasn't a problem with the work he did, before I took the next step in how to repair the issue. He again told me if I could lift the door up and down manually then the issue had nothing to do with his work and that it was the motor and that he knew nothing about how to repair a GENIE motor (so beware, he knows nothing about GENIE motors). He proceeded to down the GENIE brand and so on and so on. The point here is that we paid Mr. TEEL cash for the repairs, there were still problems with the garage door that we didn't previously have, before his repairs, and when I simply asked him if he would please come out to make sure everything looked ok with the work he did, his response was NOT...sure I'll come out and check and make sure for you...it was nothing but wanting to argue as to why it had nothing to do with his work and had to be something with the cheap GENIE motor we have and yes, he said "CHEAP". The after the repair issues were not handled professionally. Regardless of what he may of thought the problem was, his attitude should have been the straight up YES, I will come see about that for you as YES, you did pay me for a service where my garage door is still not working as it should. You don't give a customer a hard time just because you THINK it wasn't due to your repairs when you haven't even come out to look and make sure. I don't think that's too much to ask but I got nothing but a hard time which led to the point of frustration which led to me having to repost my experience to make others aware. read more

Jason Teel of JT Garage Door Systems was able to get to my repair quickly, and once he arrived, he confirmed the mechanical problem with my screw-drive garage door opener (it was a broken coupler that was preventing it from opening and closing, even though the motor was still running. Also, at no extra charge, he replaced the door's open-stop switch, which had a broken spring on it that I had replaced using a rigged bent paper.)
