They were prompt, but in my opinion, they were excessively expensive. The garage door opener at a rental unit that I own quit working. Their diagnosis was that the garage door opener was old (yes it was approximately 21 years old) and tired. Tired? They recommended replacement. They installed a new Chamberlain 3/4 hp garage door opener for $1,138.50 which included a "service fee" of $38.50 which I assume was for inspecting the door and lubricating it, which it needed. They did not break out the cost of the opener and labor so here is my analysis using Lowe's for a comparison. Lowe's has two Chamberlain 3/4 hp openers. The lesser valued one is $279.00. The higher priced one is $319.00. Both have battery backup for opening when the electricity goes out. Lowe's will install for $139.00 per their ad, so highest price for the Lowe's Opener is $319.00 plus $26.32 sales tax plus Lowe's installation cost $139.00 labor being a total of $484.32 if installed by Lowe's. The installer contacted me at 10:03 AM, being the start of the job I assume. I do not know what the inspection and lube job cost as the invoice is not itemized but they installed, inspected, and lubricated the garage door opener by not later than 12:14 PM being the time stamp on "Garage Door Service & Repair('s)" email conveying the invoice to me, being a total of 2 hours and 11 minutes per telephone and email records. That is approximately $299.63 an hour. I note that the identification headers recorded on my telephone list "Garage Doors & Gates", "Garage Door Service and Repair", Yelp lists "Accent Garage Doors", and the Invoice lists Garage Door Service & Repair". So I suppose the Vendor was "Garage Door Service and Repair". So is this one business operating under several names? Comparative estimates I obtained by telephone after the fact for the job were between $600.00 (Lowe's $484.32 online) and $1,200.00 so they were at the top of the upper range. That said, I would go with Lowe's deal next time and likely save between $400.00 and $600.00. read more

Check LOTS of places before going with them! My experience with "Accent Garage" wasn't pleasant this past year. Mitch (who I spoke to) was attitudinal, and tried to force us to pick a time that was convenient for him. He also wasn't quick to respond. He picked up the phone around 9:30 am, listened to what I had to say, and then told me to call the number back and leave a message, and that he'd call back once he got to the office. Access garage door number 713-898-4228 was supposed to come out last week which was Friday but then claim they had a emergency and they couldn't send no one out so they scheduled for today just spoke to someone at the company and they told me that they would not be able to come out to next month. We have used Accent Garage Doors on more then a few occasions for problems with our garage door. On two occasions they came out and found nothing wrong with the equipment and it just happened to be us doing something wrong. They didn't even charge us there $50.00 call out fee. That after it would have absolutely been more then fair for them to. That just shows the character of the employees and company. We recently moved and once again had a problem and they were able to come within a couple of hours of calling without issue. There was a couple of things that the technician found in need of repair. He repaired it and also adjusted a couple of things for us that would prevent future issues with a different part of the door. My garage door torsion spring snapped after years of heavy use and neglect. I emailed Mitch late in the evening and he called me back the next morning. He was able to come out the same day and accommodate my work schedule. He showed up ten minutes late but that's understandable due to my location. I see the great reviews and know that these customers have not met the "real" Mitch. I've been his customer for about 15 years until today. He repeated his tendency to be rude and blow customers off. I think this guy has too much business in my neighborhood of Silverlake, but he has one less customer to worry about now. Years ago he advised me I needed to replace a lower panel, but yet when I emailed him as instructed he ignored me. I called and he ignored me. He did finally replace it when I was out of town and my daughter was home with a door she could not close. Well....he did it again. I called him with an issue just a few days ago. He called back and said he was busy and would get back to me. He didn't. He claimed this morning that he "thought I had fixed the door". What? Really? Don't depend on this guy.
