The girl on the phone was extremely rude and short tempered, basically accused me of lying and said either keep Wednesday or cancel and didn't ever apologize or seem concerned about loss of business, time, etc. if you don't value my business, then you won't get my business. This is why phone etiquette is important, because my dog and I always enjoyed going here before this situation was handled so poorly. I'd rather pay more to be treated respectfully (not that they were inexpensive by any means).

I explained that it had been about a year since her last grooming and that she had just lost her husky brother -- this would be her first visit to the groomer without him. August was incredibly compassionate and made sure Sierra felt loved and cared for throughout the entire experience. He kept me updated during the day, which I really appreciated. I had my two kids with me during both drop-off and pick-up, and he was so patient and accommodating with all of us. Sierra looked like a brand-new dog when I picked her up. Closer to 9:00, I walked in and was told by the front desk girl (that was previously outside) that my groomer just called in. She asked another groomer if they could work my dog in but I was told he would be there for a good part of the day so I declined. I asked why no one called me when my groomer called in and she said, "because it just happened". Weird since it was right at the time of my dog's appointment. I was then offered another appointment for a day the following week but explained I took a personal day off and drove 30 minutes from home for today's appointment. Definitely won't be returning.

I got to chatting with Shai about my dog's horrid shedding and bad experiences we have had with past groomers. She suggested I get an appointment with her so she could take care of it for us. I gave it a try. Gruene Gables is so clean and the staff is friendly. Shai came out to see what I wanted done with Max and took him back. It was nice for Max to see a familiar face, so that eased some of his anxiety about "dog places". A few hours later, Max came out looking like a new boy! I swear he was so clean he sparkled a little. Shai went above and beyond my husband and I's expectations! He has never looked, felt or smelled so good before (and none of that nasty perfume spray)! He even had a confident strut to his walk. I can tell he feels better and wasn't under much stress due to Shai and Liz being there, which made me happy. The price was very reasonable and we will definitely be back!! These gals are the best!

During that call they will try to sell you a "play package", as an upgrade. They do not tell you on the phone, or on their website, nor do they mention it in their reservation email, that there is a mandatory Bronze "play" package added on for an additional $15. I declined any such services, because my dog was going to be there for less than 24 hours. Nevertheless, they charged me $30 extra. Furthermore, the "playtime" notes claimed that they played fetch with her. My dog does not play fetch. She is very possessive about the ball, so if you manage to get possession of it and throw it, she will gladly chase it to get it back, but she will not voluntarily give it back. I strongly doubt they played with her at all.
