Pastries, cakes, chocolates, treats I recognized from my trip, new things I had never tried before and then I spotted the Freez sodas. OMMMMG. If you know, you know. We grabbed the Pineapple Coconut and Blue Hawaii Tropical Fruits, and seeing those bottles again made me way too happy. The staff were kind while I asked approximately 72 questions and tried to figure out what all we wanted to take home. There are so many pastries and sweets behind the counter that one visit honestly isn't enough. I think you need at least three trips one for your favorites, one to experiment, and another because you realized what you forgot the first two times. Now my search continues for somewhere that sells the fruit cream in the pack of three instead of individually. Golden Roastery didn't end that mission for me, but that's okay...that day will come!Until then, I definitely found a spot to satisfy some of those overseas cravings without needing another passport stamp.

I ate in the shop so I got to enjoy the real ceramic mug, saucer, plate and metal flatware. Very nice touches to reward you for staying in the shop. The jazz music was a nice volume and pleasant. The staff was very nice. The barista suggested the latte and the other staff delivered the latte and pastry to me where I was seated. Also, a nice touch. Overall, excellent experience!

I understood they were having power issues and were operating on a generator. Their tablet system appeared to be working, as I could see my order while placing it. I was making a large order for my coworkers and needed an itemized receipt. When I asked for one, I was told they couldn't provide it due to the power outage. I then asked if they could pull up my order on the tablet so I could take a photo of it, and I was told "yes, one second." However, after my order was ready and I followed up, the staff member seemed irritated and repeated that they couldn't provide a receipt because of the power issue. I clarified that I only needed to take a picture of the order on the screen, which I thought we had already agreed on. I also didn't realize that every add-on they offer comes with an extra charge. For example, when asked what kind of milk I wanted, it wasn't mentioned that 2% milk (which is typically the default) had an upcharge. Additionally, when a soft top was offered for an iced drink, it wasn't disclosed that it was a $1.50 extra charge. This was frustrating, as these add-ons were suggested by staff without clarifying the additional cost. While the issue was eventually resolved, I left feeling unhappy with the overall experience. I did return once afterward, but between the inconsistent beverages and the lack of transparency around pricing, I don't think I'll be coming back.

Then... nothing. Two separate DoorDash drivers went to the restaurant and waited for the order. It still wasn't ready, and we received no meaningful update explaining what was happening. Finally, at around 12:30 p.m., more than two hours after we ordered breakfast, the delivery arrived with only the cookie. No breakfast sandwiches. No half-dozen bagels. Just a cookie. The most frustrating part wasn't even that the food didn't arrive. Restaurants get busy. Items sell out. Mistakes happen. The problem was the complete lack of communication. If someone had simply said, "We can't fulfill this order," we could have cancelled and ordered breakfast somewhere else. Instead, we waited for more than two hours and ended up without breakfast. Other reviewers may love the bagels, but unfortunately I never really got the opportunity to find out. For a first experience, this was a pretty telling example of the customer service, and there are too many other bagel shops in the area for me to risk repeating it.
