After seeing that this dealership had the used car I was looking for, I called and spoke with a salesperson named Tristan. I explained that I felt the car was overpriced because I had been comparing it with several others. She told me I could come in to try to negotiate. When I arrived, there were three salespeople standing outside. One asked if she could help me, and I told her I had just called ahead. She took me into her office; however, she never offered her name. She took my information and then disappeared twice for extended periods of time. She asked if I wanted to complete a credit application to see if I qualified. I explained that I wanted to see the car first. She eventually brought the car around, opened the door, and asked what I thought. She did not offer a test drive--I had to ask. , She said I could only drive it to the dead end because the car had not yet been detailed. When I returned, I told her I did like the car but once again explained that it was overpriced and that I had $5,000 in cash. She said she would need to speak with her sales manager. When she returned, she told me that he wanted to speak with me directly. When I went into his office, he sarcastically asked if I was "trying to get a car with an engine," and another sales representative laughed. I again explained that the vehicle was overpriced due to its excessive mileage (233,000 miles). He asked if I wanted to finance, which I clearly stated was an absolute no. He then looked up the car and said it was coming up at $4,600, but with taxes the total would be $5,500. Once again, I explained that I only had $5,000. As a result, the dealership lost a deal over $500. Combined with the unprofessional behavior and overall experience, I would advise others to proceed with caution. read more

I went to JT's KIA off of Killian Rd after having my KIA worked on by two different shops, same symptom. One shop let me know there is a recall on the 2016 KIA Optima engine. Long story short, on their Invoice No K1CS278407, it says, 'Needs engine replaced customer declined'. I did NOT decline. With this invoice was a recommended service 'long block and gaskets' '$7104.61'. Not being a mechanic, I found out a long block IS the engine. I had an engine replaced in my Ford 150 truck for $9000.00. I sent a text message inquiring about this recall, their reply 'it must have lower rod bearing failure and specific codes present'. Mine does not have neither so 'we cannot replace the engine ....'. If I ran the car without oil it would have all kinds of failures and codes, I'm guessing. read more

Moved to Columbia in March & every time I come here to get my Kia serviced it's a hassle + b.s. Some staff are professional, others have growing up to do. From employees playing like school kids with crushes to my car being complete & no one telling me for over an hour. Today, there's no reason I scheduled an appointment with shuttle service requested to get back to work, get there, & no shuttle service for a minimum of 20 minutes. There's also no reason for me to know a worker's mom was just diagnosed with breast cancer because employees don't respect HIPPA or other people's private family information enough to not discuss it in the presence of customers. I cannot stress enough how shady and unprofessional this company is. I called JT Kia of Columbia 230 Killian Commons Parkway Columbia, SC 29203 about a 2019 Honda Ridgeline listed at $22,900. I was planning to drive from Statesville, NC (a 2-hour, 112-mile trip) to purchase the vehicle on Friday. I called Thursday morning and spoke with Gordon, who said he would send me a text and reach back out shortly. This was at 9:06 AM. By 3:22 PM, I had not heard back, so I texted Gordon again. After trying to reach the sales manager, Tillman, Roe, someone finally came on the line and said they would send the forms so I could take them to my bank. When the forms arrived, the price of the vehicle had increased to $25,588 because I wasn't financing through them. I called and explained that I was essentially paying cash and would not pay more--in fact, I expected to pay less. Then I received a text from Roe stating they would honor the original price but add dealer add-ons, bringing the total to $26,532. This company is deceptive and tries to take advantage of people. I had selected the vehicle I wanted started dealing with a sales person and told him I had a pre approval from my bank but I know they have to make sure so I let them pull my credit report after I told them I had a pre approval from my bank that afternoon they called me and told me they had a deal worked out with my bank but needed my w2 and pay stub I told them I would bring it during lunch which I did . drove 45 minutes during my lunch only to be told they sold the truck earlier that day when I had had a deal worked out a day before . never again will I set foot there after I was told by a couple of people about the business dealing there but was giving them the benefit of the doubt. read more

JT kia of Columbia is complete trash. Starting with trying to call in to someone at the front desk to get scheduled. Told me they would call me back with a confirmed appt, never did. I had to call. They also just lack professionalism. Nik is horrible. I had to deal with him both my visits and it's painful. First time I dropped my car off, I had to wait in line to give them my keys which took forever. And he made a smart mouth comment about I should have been there sooner, lemme guess you were stuck in traffic. So rude. He sent a text saying I could text this number +1 (803) 932-1449 anytime during my service.. which I finally did by 1pm still not hearing anything from them. He then proceeded to argue with me stating "I tried calling this morning around 9:30, its ready for pick up." I text him back letting him know the number he was supposed to be using to get ahold of me is NOT the number that called so I assumed it was a spam call. I go to pick up my car and Nik blamed me for not calling them sooner. During my visit they replaced some items that were recalls, but had to order some parts (which they never called to let me know came in over a month later). When I got my car back it was leaking oil and I couldn't figure out why. My back right door also would not lock anymore and still doesn't to this day. I dealt with the problem for a few weeks while they got me on the schedule to have them look at it. Nik was working my case alongside his manager. Nik tried to tell me because I have two car seats in my car, surely i overuse the side with the door lock problem. Which is not the case. Both of my kids normally get in themselves on the driver backseat side smh. But his remarks were obviously most needed per usual. His boss said they would look at my car for free. But wanted to charge me a diagnostic fee for the back door lock. This of course upset me because the first visit I drop my car off it's fine, I get it back it's leaking and won't lock, I shouldn't be charged anything... So basically they run their tests and come to find out when they were installing a recall piece, the manager admitted his mechanics didn't run the after inspection to confirm everything was sealed properly...THEY DID NOT TIGHTEN SOMETHING UP which caused the oil leakage(extreme rookie move for such established mechanics) The manager ran the tests on my doors anyway and didn't charge me and found out I need a lock replaced. I highly do NOT recommend this place and I feel sorry for you because they are like 1 of 2 KIA locations in Columbia. When I lived in Charleston the Kia location there was hands down best customer service, mechanic service, just all around super professional. JT could learn a thing or 10 from them! read more

I would give zero stars if possible. I attempted to purchase a $37k vehicle. I spoke with someone in sales on a Wednesday who said a specialist would call me. The first specialist didn't bother leaving a voicemail or email after I submitted my credit application. I had to call the next day and have a different specialist reach out and explain that the manager didn't want to give me any finance terms because I'm a scammer since I live one state over and don't want to travel over 500 miles just to talk. On Friday the same specialist informed me of the otd price but still wouldn't give interest rates. I asked him to have his manager call me and never received a response. I called and left a message for the sales manager on Friday at lunch and never received a call back. I had to call Saturday morning and speak with someone who was able to tell me the car is sold after speaking with a manager. This was the only helpful individual out of the six or so I spoke with. If you don't live in SC or outside of the Columbia area don't bother looking at vehicles here. They don't want to be inconvenienced. They will call you a scammer after you've given all your personal info and submitted your credit application and then ignore your calls. This is the most dishonest and disrespectful dealer I've ever interacted with by far. read more

So I had purchased a vehicle three weeks ago and had a cashier's check for greater than the amount I needed. The sales associate and finance associate stated they would mail me back a check for the difference. Well fast forward 3 weeks later and i have not received a check. I contacted this dealer about an advertisement I i heard on the radio for up to $5000 over Blue Book. This interested me, since I had some negative equity from a previous purchase. The first salesman called me initially called me took my info and said he would call me back after calculating some numbers. He never called me back. I called and spoke with another salesman and he was better, but in the end, he told me he would call me in the morning, that never happened. I called and he said he Waac busy and could call and that he call me after finishing with another customer. That never happened either. In the end, I was told that they would not honor the money over Blue Book, so that was false advertising. I would not waste your time with this dealership. We went here in late November because they had the car we wanted. We found the car online through a NEA Car Buying Service. Before we could get out of the parking lot, a sales associate was already asking us questions. We had a 10 a.m. appointment with Brian, who was apparently the Online Sales Manager and was not going to be the person handling our appointment. Terrell Shaw was our sales associate. He was able to pull up our information, and get the car for a test drive. The car had not been serviced yet, and so it wasn't as clean as it could have been, but it was a decent test drive. Terrell was not as knowledgeable about the car as he probably should have been. I mean we had an appointment...at least one person in the dealership should have been prepared. Once we decided to purchase the car, the paperwork process was pretty easy. We were able to get our discount through the NEA, and everything went without a hitch. Terrell had the car fully serviced and gassed up while we completed the financial paperwork with Mike, who was very thorough in his explanations. We were able to receive all paperwork on a flash drive before we left. There was one concern: Terrell had us sign a paper where they transfer the ownership of the GPS in the car from them to us. However, my husband could not find a GPS system in the car, not even when he looked in the owner's manual. A person from the dealership did send a text message afterwards, and said to text back with questions or concerns. I did text back with the question on the GPS, and they have yet to contact me back about that. Another thing I liked is the Loyalty Rewards Program. We will get two free oil changes for the first year we have the car, and we will get a lifetime worth of tire rotations, check engine light diagnostics, and multi-point inspections. Plus we will get to earn reward points for money off of future services. I'll update this review once we have used the service. I had a good experience as far as purchasing a vehicle. My recent experience with the service department was just horrible and completely humiliating I left there in tears. My car was there for 4 days and my service advisor was Johnathan and during that timeframe I was not given any type of updates about my vehicle. My interaction with him was very rude and really combative in which I thought was very unprofessional. After calling and speaking with different workers I was advised that a manager would be contacting me back about my vehicle on two occasions and no one ever did. This has been an ongoing issue with my car I just had it up to Kia and was serviced and I spent over $900.00 thinking my car would be fixed and it's not. I had an engine issue, I live in myrtle beach and the dealership here knew it was a recalled engine and told me 5 months until I could get my car fixed! I purchased a used vehicle from JT's Kia in November 2022. Upon returning home the back hatch would not automatically open. I called returned the vehicle only to hear sorry we can't fix that. The salesperson had stated multiple times that there were no worries that anything that needed to be fixed in first 90 days would be covered at 100%. After returning, complaining they said they would have someone come look at it but it probably the settings. No the entire door will not open automatically still and they would not fix it appropriately. In addition the heat was on in the car while I purchased it. The first hot day I turned on the air conditioner only to blow out room temperature air. I called and no one will call me back. Same response. Turns out there is a hole in the condenser leaking Freeon and I have had to pay $800 to get fixed. I trusted that the air conditioner would actually work. I mean a simple assumption when you buy a car that has been "inspected by their team." Joke! Please do not trust these people. Get the cars checked out or go somewhere else reliable to purchase a car. They are unresponsive and lied about the coverage costing me over $1500. Do not buy a car here!! read more

So we told her we'd be on our way, coming from the Augusta area so it would be probably 2 hours or so but we set up the appointment to come look at it. She even called us when we were on our way to make sure we were still coming, confirmed we were and what our ETA was. Well when we got to the dealership just a little bit later the car we were there to see was suddenly MIA and they tried to tell us they sold it that morning. Really?! When buying a car everyone is nice to you but when it's time to service that car it takes 2 to 3 hours for an oil change and if it's anything else like putting a rim on a tire you can forget about it. First, I have owned TWO Kias. I purchased my Sedona because of the Kia name for quality and Service! I never had any issues; until JT's Kia. I was seeing a "Engine Control System" error. Not wanting to drive ONE hour to get to Columbia, It took a month just to get an appointment; which compared to the other Kia dealerships (some were 4 months backlogged. I dropped off my van EARLY and immediately I received a phone call and text from Jonathan asking for more information. My defenses were down as I saw this as a good sign. I mean, seriously... Jonathan seemed on it! He stated no work would be started without my permission and to expect a call "today" (Wednesday). Well.... That happy feeling quickly vanished. I waited all day Wednesday and Thursday without so much as a phone call or text. I decided to call and text on Friday. I left 2 messages, and finally, frustrated that no one had called me back, I called yet again. This time I was able to reach a woman who explained that they were short manned and backlogged because of all the vehicles coming in and few mechanics working. Got it. I empathized but also stated that I hadn't received any updates/calls and wanted something by the end of the day (Friday). Well... Saturday came and still no update. I called, no answer. I called on Monday, same song and dance, we'll call you with an update. NOTHING. Come Tuesday, I had enough. I finally reached Justin... who, I believe, is the service department manager. He inform me that the "recalls" to my van had been accomplished. Ummm... so NOT the reason the van was there at all, but ok. I'm thinking, at least those are done. When I asked about the reason for having my van there, the error code, he couldn't offer much. But he did say that his "tech" annotated (somewhere) that he believed it to be a "timing" issue and just to "open the timing box would cost me $1,000"!!! In short, they had my van for 6 days. No updates. No calls. When I called I received the typical "we'll call you back"; "we're short staffed"; yada yada yada.... And now you have a "starting bid" just to Open a timing box of "$1,000"? Unbelievable. Oh and Justin had NO idea why no one had gotten back with me for the past 6 days nor did he seem to care why I was facing a merry-go-round of excuses; I thought managers would be more responsive...nope! I arrived to bail my van out; at $147 for a horrible 'diagnostic' which couldn't be more vague! The "diagnostic sheet" advised me of "needing tires" and alignment but little to NOTHING on the actual reason I brought in the van! While I awaited my van's release from the clink; and departed JT's. Took my vehicle to Firestone (local). Where, within 30 minutes of having my van, I receive a phone call with a diagnosis and a plan!!! I received daily calls on the status and hiccups that were occurring (such as waiting on parts, etc.). I had to drive an hour just to get to JT's. Once there, I faced poor communication and even less customer service. I departed with the same issue after they had my van for 6 DAYS!!! I've read the reviews from others and I wish I had just waited and gone to any other Kia dealer but JT's. I've also read the "standard" reply to complaints to JT's... "I'm sorry.... Call us so we can rectify"... (yawn). All I can say is .... spare me! You had 6 days to get this fixed. You had numerous attempts to make things right; you failed. The only rectification is to refund the bail money for my van ($147). You didn't care then and I don't foresee you stating anything different now. If JT's is a representation of Kia dealerships; I will probably not buy another Kia nor would I recommend one to anyone. read more

My wife and I have bought three vehicles from this dealership, but we won't be buying another. We bargained and got good deals in our purchases because of having good credit, but the services after buying this third vehicle has been terrible. Simple oil change? Better pack a lunch and maybe bring a pillow - you're going to be there for a loooooong time. What really ticked me off the last time was that in the complimentary inspection, I was informed that I need new tires. Problem was, I had new tires installed a couple months prior! (I got a good deal on Kumho tires from elsewhere at I'd say about half the price I would've paid at this dealership.) Ok, that being said, here comes this young dude at the end of my three-hour oil change telling me about my tire condition. As amusement for myself, I played along and wanted him to show me the condition of the tires. As we neared the vehicle, he could see that the tires were new, so he made a comment as such. I said, "No, let's continue on... let's do a tread test on 'em." I then asked, "Where did the technician do the tread test... on the side of the tire where the name 'Kumho' is?" He got the point, no fool here. I later tried to get in touch with the service manager to see what kind of practices they're trying; either attempting to drum up more business with unsuspecting customers, incompetent "technicians," or, they never even looked at the tires period. I was, you know, trying to let them rectify the situation before reviewing them anywhere; no dice. Now here's the real funny part. In me trying to get in touch with them by their 'contact form,' they thought that we were wanting to fill out a credit application! If you want to have some laughs dealing with circus clowns, and don't really need their "services," then this is the place. They employ nothing but smartphone addicted kids. If you want good, quick service that you won't have to take up residency, you'd be better off going to one of the national brand service centers like Midas, or AAA. Oh, as an aside, if you want to purchase a vehicle, you might want to check with a dealership that relies on service; not gimmicks. As I said earlier, we received good deals because we have good credit. Even then however, it was hard getting the vehicle we really wanted because they try their hardest to get you to buy what they have in stock on the lot. Go there with a blue, AWD turbocharged fully loaded Sportage in mind, and these clowns will do their best at pressuring you to buy a black, front-wheel drive plain-Jane Sportage.
