Terrible experience with the service department. I brought my car in to get serviced with hopes to get it done right. My steering wheel was locking up due to electrical issues with the battery. Long story short I ended up getting my car back with the issue still unresolved. This happened two more times. After I brought it in the third time, expecting Honda to be compliant, their service manager Jonathan Arnold was combative, rude, and made the situation much worse claiming I should know my car should be responsible even though they couldn't find the issue 3 separate occasions. Upon giving them more info, they found and fixed the issue. Then gave me a $750 bill without giving me a quote before they completed the work. My entire experience with Honda Midlands was horrid. Don't trust your car with them. I tried to trade in my vehicle as well too and their website quoted me 10k for my car, they offered me 5k. Save your time and efforts. read more

I came here recently, they asked me for a review. This is what I gave them: The final product of the service (oil change and tire rotation) was good and my service advisors were very friendly. But the part where you missed the mark rests with your ability to service customers within a reasonable time and you took a short-cut that I felt was not appropriate. An oil change should take no more than 30 minutes, a tire rotation should take no more than another 30 minutes IF you're torquing every lug nut to spec (no impact wrenches to tighten, but something tells). Which by the way, you guys did NOT torque the nuts, I double checked a few and they were WAY too tight. Yes, I do have a torque wrench, it goes up to 100 ft-lbs and the nut maxed out (the proper torque is 80). The last time that was done to my car, the heads were starting to strip because they were just so tight. I couldn't tell if they were just really tight or the threads were crossed, which either way that mechanic should have done a proper torquing, not just use an impact wrench like an ignorant fool and say, "good enough." Apart from that low quality work, you are either booking WAY too many people or you have WAY too few technicians. I received an authorized override to have my car seen 2 hours earlier than an ordinarily scheduled appointment. I got there and my car did not get approached for 2 hours. So what the 'F' is the point of getting authorized to skip ahead in line if you don't see my car that promptly? It took 1.5 hrs to complete my job, which those should not have taken that long. Whoever manages the Service Department, I *am* taking a swipe at your business model and judgement because, I, the customer have to wait an unreasonable amount of time because you did this to yourself (and me, by extension). This is exactly the reason why I left the Sunset location, because they took a long time and they gave me bad time estimates. If you're willing to continue this practice and endure the bad review and social-network bombing (I will note this experience there too), then I'll go elsewhere. I don't see what the problem is to not set yourself and customers up like this. Surely you didn't wake up one day and just decide, "I'm going to overload my department just to rake in as much money as I possible can for my dealership," or did you? read more

In search of a new car, well don't shop here!! The staff is rude and doesn't care about their customers. My experience with Paul Miconi steered me clear of this car dealership. I was doing an online search before I made the trip to go look at cars and that's how Miconi reached out to me, he was cordial at first until we couldn't meet closer to the price I wanted to spend. He then got aggravated and stated that I "wasted his time" and hung up. I called back to be sure that's what I heard and he continued to be unprofessional so I asked to speak to a manager instead of continuing to argue with him, which then he told me that I was on his personal phone that he paid the bill for and if I wanted to speak to a manager hang up and call the dealership.! He ruined a sale for this company, I'm not sure but if I cared about my business I would be pissed if one of my employees did this. He didn't know what my final price could've been, nobody ever comes out with their best price 1st. That's the business of negotiating. I wasn't sure so had to call back where he tells me they didn't have the part and to call back in a month. The lady was rude and when I pulled in wasn't even acknowledged when there was all these people around. The following is my experience buying a car from Midlands Honda in Columbia, SC. I purchased a 2017 VW Golf GTI on 12/09/24 for roughly $21k. The salesman drove an hour to pick me up and we arrived after dark where I test drove the vehicle in a light rain. After inspecting the vehicle, we went inside and signed the papers. The first night I had it, the entire interior flooded through the sunroof. Apparently there are cracks along the frame of the sunroof, so when it rains heavily water pools and leaks through the seal. Water went down the inside of the windshield, dripped onto the dash, the seats, and entertainment system and pooled up on the carpet, especially the passenger side. The screen in the entertainment system was damaged from the water and the sound deadening underneath the carpet of the interior soaked up water like a sponge. Over the next five days I called no less than ten times and spoke with at least five different people. At least three people took my number and assured me someone would call back. Most sales people hung up when I asked for a sales manager. Eventually, one helpful salesman noticed I had called a number of times and helped me get in contact with a sales manager, who promised to leave my number with the general manager and assured me the GM would call on Monday. This did not happen. I was not asking for them to take the car back, nor was I being unreasonable on the phone. I was not angry, I just wanted to speak to someone of authority about helping to pay for the damage from the leak in the sunroof. I would have even brought it to them for them to see the damage themselves. I do not think that I was being unreasonable, and I would expect that most dealerships with any care for their customers that sold a car without noticing the defective sunroof in their "124 point inspection" that caused a flood would at least have the courtesy to talk to me on the phone. This does not appear to be the case at Midlands Honda. I suspect they also cleared codes from the car to stop the check engine light from being on instead of fixing the issues, because two days after purchase the check engine light came on for an Evap leak (yes the gas nozzle is tightly on). Another issue that immediately showed itself is when I attempted to use the windshield wiper fluid on the rear window, fluid came pouring out of the headliner onto the back seat. They also advertised a warranty for the vehicle on the website (and with a sticker on the car) that when I arrived they told me it could not actually be offered due to the age of the car. I also was charged an additional $900 for a "premium package" that was explained as 3 free oil changes at my closest dealership owned by them, but I was not able to get any paper saying this, and I do not know if I will actually be able to redeem this until I attempt to get the oil change. We will see. During financing talks, the four square came out and I was shown my monthly payment that goes along with my down payment. This did not add up with the APR (that I had to talk with a finance manager to identify) and the total payment price over the specified duration of time, and only after getting a quote directly from the finance manager (and around the salesman) that I kept with me was I able to get the monthly payment that I expected when I arrived and not the one the salesman was trying to now give me. This was interesting as nothing about the terms changed, the monthly payment lowered. I asked repeatedly, but it was not able to be explained to me what the $52 /mo discrepancy was from the salesman's number and the finance manager's number, nor was it explained why it had randomly gone up when I arrived at the dealership. To be transparent, I was offered a small incentive to sign on the spot as well. I wanted to like this dealership and the salesman. It was nice of them to pick me up, and when I left with the car, I was happy with the deal and what had transpired, even if some strange things had happened along the way. But after the damage the car has sustained since, and the radio silence I have received from the dealership, I am not left with nothing but regret for dealing with Midlands Honda and I cannot in good conscience recommend anyone go and buy a car at this dealership. read more

I came to the dealership to sell a vehicle that was used. Not only did the Business Manager Steve Graham follow up with me continuously ,he also gave me more than a fair quote on my vehicle to sell to them. The vehicle was a Chevy and they gave offered me $2,000 to $3,000 more than every dealership that I went to try to sell my car. I'm thankful for the experience. I thankful that he moved so quickly and got me in and out of the dealership in record time. I had my check in my hand quickly after selling. Notable: the Chevy Dealerships I visited were giving me way lower quotes than Midlands Honda. The next time I sell a vehicle, I will certainly go to a dealer for another brand, such as Honda to sell the Chevy. It seemed to work out better for me. read more

Finance guy lied about the price and coverage of an extended warranty and found out about it after we received the paperwork in the mail. Did not tell us that they only had one key for the car until after the sale. Put the cheapest set of mismatched tires imaginable on nice cars to move inventory. Give you an insulting offer for your trade in. Transmission is already acting up and it sounds like a wheel bearing is going out less than 1000 miles later. Go anywhere else...except Jim Hudson. I brought my Moms car in because it would not start. I put a new battery in her car and it still didn't start. We took the car to Midland Honda and they charged me over $100 for a diagnostic test. Midland said it was the alternator. And they wanted to charge $920 on a 16 year old car. My Mom took the vehicle to another repair shop and the fuel pump and injectors had to be replaced because of water in the gas tank. We then took the car back to Midland on a Thursday evening and they didn't complete the work until Monday. They had the car and didn't even look at it from Thursday to Monday morning. Horrible customer service because they never called me. I had to force them to admit the alternator was not the issue and the technician was wrong. I will NEVER use Midland Honda again. read more

I was told to bring the car back due to recalls I brought the Vehicle back within 2 weeks to have the matter addressed. Hyundai told me it was $4000 worth of work needed to be done. I took the car for a second opinion to Walmart they stayed the same things it was an oil leak and a transmission leak. I have reached to my sales representative on several occasions and they still have yet to reach me. At this point I feel as if I was taken advantage of because I am a young single mother" I came here to get reliable transportation because I have 2 children with special needs and I have to take them to there therapy. I thought when the employee was coming to me, he was coming to let me know the car was ready, but no, I was told after close to 3 hrs the car was just getting worked on. I asked how much longer, and was told 20mins. well I gave an extra 30 minutes and then I went to see what was going on. I was then told by a desk employee that he'll bring that car around after explaining and expressing my frustration for an oil change. So if I wouldn't have said anything I would've been sitting there for who knows how much longer. TRYING To Get My Windows Tinted As Promised!!!!! I purchased a 2025 Honda Civic from this location (Midlands Honda on Killian Road in Columbia, SC) on November 18, 2024. I was promised free window tinting and floor mats; as of today, November 29, 2025, my windows still need to be tinted, and no floor mats. Me and my mother have been calling the person, who sold us the car and still no help. Just giving us the runaround, saying they would either call back or have someone else in the service department call us. Then, finally, the person who sold me the car told my mother the process/policy for window tinting changed 5 days after I purchased the vehicle. Still, no one thought to inform or relay this change prior to my mother calling today, which is November 29, 2025, and I have been calling the salesperson several times prior, as well. When speaking to the service manager I asked for some help and his response was "they will get to you when they can. Excellent service. Clean facility. Friendly staff. We were driving from Asheville to Savannah and had AC problems. We called and they took us just past 5:30. (Their last appointment is at 5:30) They have plenty of stuff to entertain you while you wait. Arcade games, movies, miniature golf. We waited about an hour and a half. They found what the problem was but we couldn't wait for the parts. They generously waived the diagnostic fees. When I told them I had that replaced in April 2022, they said it was mistake. Last week they told me I needed my brake and transmission fluid changed immediately. I want to Honda to pick up my car after they did some repairs, and when I walked in there was one person at the desk who is helping somebody out and there were four other people who were not with customers, two of the man looked me dead in my eyes, and said nothing. Nobody told me hi wait, one moment somebody be with you or even I'm sorry give us a second. Nobody said anything. While I was standing there, waiting waiting for the young lady to get finished with her customer because obviously she was going to be the only one to help me. One guy who I presume was off the clock, looked me in my face again turned back to talk to the person he was talking to grab his stuff, looked at me a second time and then walked to the other side of the building, the other gentleman that I mention who is sitting at a desk, looked at me Went back to looking at his papers looked at me again what to the other side of the building asked a question to somebody else and then walked back to his desk I work in customer service and even if I did not want to help a customer, I would still let them know that somebody would be right with them and not leave them standing there feeling stupid. read more

I have had a pleasant experience here however I would like a second car fob but I'm being told that I would be charged for it and frankly I don't think that's right. I make my car payments on time every month and I feel like I should be afforded all the amenities as a new car owner and be afforded a second fob at no cost to me. I traded in my Honda Civic for a Honda Accord. I went into the dealership knowing exactly what I wanted color and model. Unfortunately, the one I was looking at was sold by the time I got there, but Angie Chase our Salesperson was super (she gets 5 stars) and found us another one to be delivered within the next two days. So, we went through the formalities of the paperwork on what payments I agreed to. Since the car was not onsite, we did not finish the contract....... Or so I thought. We picked up the car Monday evening, but the finance person was not onsite, so I did not get the contract. I get a credit alert that a new account was opened but........... The amount was over $6,000 more then the sales price. I immediately thought someone mixed up accounts or maybe a fraud issue. I finally got a copy of the contract which revealed in fact that I did sign for the amount using the tablet (avoid this) that was listed on my credit report. Shame on me for not completely looking through the contract on the tablet partly because the payments were what we agreed on. I had items added for Road Hazard and Paint-less Dent repair services. and the additional warranty alone was $4,100. I would have never knowingly agreed to these items especially the pricing of the extended warranty. I don't even know what it covers and for how long. It seems like they were adding items into the contract to get me to the payment that I was comfortable with! Now I'm working backwards to cancel them and having a hard time getting updates!! As prepared and excited as I was to purchase this vehicle. I regret it. I have lost confidence. My advice DON'T leave the dealership unless you have a hard copy of all paperwork in hand I don't care how excited you are!! read more
