I have been to at least 10 surgeons in my home state of Missouri and one surgeon at Mayo Clinic, with none of them offering me a solution to my pain issues aside from taking opiates, which is not something I wanted to accept for a lifetime. I have tried NSAID's, occupational therapy, PRP, stem cells, prolozone therapy, and just about every other non-surgical modality you can think of without any success. One day when I decided to look up "best hand surgeon in America" after being severely frustrated from chronic pain, I came across Dr. Badia. He has a section on his website where you can reach out to him prior to making an appointment and describe your issues to him. He is big on ensuring patients can reach his clinic in search of hope where other physicians may have failed them. In my initial contact, I advised Dr. Badia of the issues I've been experiencing and he offered me a potential solution with a strong level of confidence that he could help me with my issues. I then came from St. Louis to Miami and had surgery three weeks later and now I can safely say I am pain free for the first time in well over a decade. I am a veterinarian and I need my hands to be 100% to allow me to perform surgery on my furry four legged patients. The other hand surgeon I initially went to see for my injury said that he would recommend I go to Dr Badia because of his skill level and high case load. The particular injury I had was not super common in the general population, and was associated more with athletes. Dr Badia is out of network for all health insurance policies. So you will likely end up paying more out of pocket than you would with other doctors. But in my opinion, it's worth investing in yourself to ensure the best possible outcome for your injury. Gabriella was in constant pain in her foot ( cramping) for 4 years. She had a trauma at age 4, of a barracuda bite to her foot in the ocean. Gabriella healed fine from the attack. When she was 12, she broke her foot in dance. When the cast was removed, she has a constant "tingling, pinching, cramping," that no doctor could figure out. We went to many specialists, and all tests were inconclusive. We heard that Dr. San Giovanni was a brilliant " out of the box" thinker, and met him. He figured out that scar tissue had grown excessively during a growth spurt, and ensnared a nerve in Gabriella's foot. It got to the point that I had to go to urgent care to then go to a podiatrist to then be told I needed physical therapy. Luckily for me, I got sent to Florida Occupational Healthcare. For a month, three times a week, I had therapy at 7 in the morning. To begin with, I'm not even a morning person, yet these people made it worth my while. I didn't dread coming in the morning. I was always treated with kindness and respect. From the receptionists to the physical therapists, every single person working has a smile on their face. Not to mention that one of the therapists, Danny, makes some amazing coffee. That aside, my therapist was Alain and I'm grateful that he was with me in my journey to fully recover from my sprained ankle. He wasn't just my therapist, he was someone who pushed me to do better in and out of therapy. I don't doubt that now that I return to the gym I will be taking with me some of the exercises I did at physical therapy. All in all, I'm glad that if I had to get physical therapy, I got sent here. Often, assistants guided the sessions, and I was left on my own without clear direction. That all changed at FOX Physical Therapy. I feel very lucky to have found Braulio, who is by far the best physical therapist I have ever worked with. At first, I was nervous it would be like other facilities, but Braulio explained that he treats a maximum of two patients at a time, and that made all the difference. Braulio is incredibly attentive and present. Even when working with another patient, he is constantly watching me, giving me feedback, correcting movements, and motivating me even from across the gym. He explains exercises clearly, remembers details even months later, and truly knows how to motivate you, especially when you don't feel as strong or in shape as you once were. What really stands out is that he stays focused on the work. There's no wasted time or unnecessary chatting. You can genuinely tell that he cares about your recovery and progress.
