Sad to write this review as I've been coming here for 15 years + I ordered a carne asada burrito a few days ago and there was literally not a single piece of beef flesh in there.. it was all fat, tendon, strange parts of the body I could not recognize , and to make it worse, it was all LIGHT GREY "meat" I had to throw all the grey stuff away and angrily ate my $8 bean and rice burrito. This taco truck is more dependable than most of my relationships..... I've been coming here for legitimately over 8 years now and they've been so consistent. Always around for late night munchies--after the bar, concerts, when I'm just plain lazy to cook, stoned--you name it, she's always there. After almost a 3 year absence of living in K-town, the quality of the food has remained the same at Juanita's Tacos. But, I'm afraid I'll have to deduct a star from this review, since I don't fully get the same warm feeling from eating here like I used to. For one, all the condiments are mostly absent from the outside counter of the truck. The hot sauce and onions/cilantro still remain, but everything else is stored inside the truck. Relinquished due to the fact that some stupid patron probably caused issues by either taking too much or ruining the quality of the sides for everyone else. SAD. However, the service is still friendly and the prices haven't changed to my knowledge. ALL MEAT BURRITO I still favor the carne asada burrito over their tacos. The fizz chugged in vast quantities by Mexicans has long been sweetened with a mixture of high fructose corn syrup and cane sugar. It is there every night until around 4 in the morning. The lines can get pretty long on friday and saturday nights because all the drunk people from the bars and clubs come here for some late night munchies. After you order from the tiny window, you can customize your order with cilantro, onions, 3 different types of hot sauce, jalapenos, etc... These items are located next to the window. During busy times(5pm-6pm & 11pm-1am) your order can take maybe 10-15minutes if you're unlucky and get behind someone who is ordering dinner for their family. There are reviews talking about how the food truck guy doesn't acknowledge you for a while if you're at the order window; Those reviews ARE true as I've experienced the same thing, but I saw that the guy was busy carrying out previous orders. I just stood and waited for 5-6 minutes and he kindly asked what i wanted to order. Food: I cant get over how bomb the burritos are here. Asada is second to lengua for me and Juanita's food truck has got to be one of the best. The main reason Juanita's is getting 5 stars though is the hot sauces. Both the mild AND hot are really good. Typically mild tastes the same where ever i go (like sour and spicy?). But the hot sauce here is actually spicy and not like red salt water. A burrito will cost you 5.50 A taco will cost you 1.50 Excellent prices and the size of both the burrito and taco are comparable to chipotle at nearly half the cost. I love the asada here along with their avocado guacamole sauce, green sauce, and red sauce they compliment all of their food. It was a late night hunger that brought me to this taco truck establishment. I came back to my friend's house, where I was puppy/house-sitting, with a friend after an awful Dodger loss at Dodger stadium. I was starving, because I got to the game late (I HATE doing that) and I was in no mood for a Dodger dog... My buddy walked down the street bought a six pack of Pacifico, while I went and bought a carne asada burrito as well as a chicken burrito for myself. The service was quick and easy, but the burritos were $5. Kind of expensive for a taco truck I thought... but then I saw the size of the burritos, and I stopped my mind bitching right then and there. Not to mention there are tons of toppings from carrots, to multiple salsas. We went home and opened our foil wrapped surprise and tasted goodness, no... greatness! Meat was tender, rice was tasty... it was everything you could want in a greasy, msg filled burrito. In NO way was this a healthy meal, but so help me god, it filled me up, PLUS I had left overs. One of the best part of living in LA is the access to many good taco stands/trucks and this is so far my favorite spot I found during Covid. They serve you tacos flat on a plate and wrap it up so won't get soggy until you have it. They use flour tortillas which I guess they toast them on lard and I personally like it which it remains crispy but soft. ahh nothing better than going to a bar and then staggering down the road to get tacos. after a few drinks at frank and hank's, we decided to venture out for food. lucky for us this taco truck was still open and alive with patrons. very simple menu, no prices, just a list of 4 meats. i get one of each. minutes later the taco man is waving at me. i wave back. he then points at a plate he's holding. i get my tacos. outside the truck there were a couple kinds of salsa and a bin of onions. i lightly top my treats and dig in. i'm no taco truck aficionado, but in my slightly drunken state these tacos were heaven. the al pastor was by far the best. even the cabeza and lengua were good. no terrible textures here. after we all finished our tacos we order some more! ha. my buddy and i each had 6 total and i think his girl had 3 or 4. assuming i ever go back to frank and hank's, i'll stumble down the street again to get some of juanita's tacos. read more

I normally dismiss those shiny silver food trucks with their hand-painted signs, but do not let that fool you. Inside that greasy-looking truck are the most amazing al pastor tacos. Juanita's tacos is worth a try. Although I've definitely had better salsa. It all boils down to the sauce! You could curl your hair, makeup your face, but if you throw on a burlap sack...you could easily be messing with a good thing. Maybe that's harsh. The salsa here is scaldingly spicy, but lacking in depth. Al Pastor was better than the fatty, rubbery asada. Quesadilla was fine, but nothing to write home about. Wow, we were drunk last Thursday night and I refused to settle for Jack in the Box tacos. If I did that i would have been eating nothing because Jack doesn't have beans to replace the ground beef (that's how I get my tacos at Del Taco). Ok this is the second best taco truck between Vermont and Western on 3rd Street. But this one gets 5 stars not because their food is good, but because it is opened until 2 a.m. or a little later.
