The best taco truck in LA!
    Cyrus I.

This taco truck is the best! The owner is a man of few words but he is literally the most awesome person ever...we understand each other on an unspoken basis. His burritos are superb and are seriously the best "day after" burritos I've ever had. Will always keep coming back for the great food!

Found this place online and decided to try it out. I must say that I was very impressed, the tacos were delicious the staff was super friendly. The open salsa bar allows you to load up on toppings which is a nice touch, the green and red salsa are great on the tacos, do watch out on the red salsa as it packs a kick to it. Will definitely come back again

All meat Carne Asada Burrito (no beans, no rice) with cheese, sour cream, onion, & cilantro.

After almost a 3 year absence of living in K-town, the quality of the food has remained the same at Juanita's Tacos. But, I'm afraid I'll have to deduct a star from this review, since I don't fully get the same warm feeling from eating here like I used to. For one, all the condiments are mostly absent from the outside counter of the truck. The hot sauce and onions/cilantro still remain, but everything else is stored inside the truck. Relinquished due to the fact that some stupid patron probably caused issues by either taking too much or ruining the quality of the sides for everyone else. SAD. However, the service is still friendly and the prices haven't changed to my knowledge. ALL MEAT BURRITO I still favor the carne asada burrito over their tacos. All meat, no beans, no rice, with cilantro, cheese, onion, and sour cream. Ask the lady behind the counter for a side or cucumber, radish, and jalapeño and you'll thank me later. The green sauce sure hits the spot and I take a bag of extra onion/cilantro for good measure. DELISH! I still like the idea of not having to wait too long for my food or to place an order, unlike the rush hour at El Taurino. However, the tacos @ El Chato Taco Truck have come up big time and many are now leaning towards El Flamin' Taco as well. I still think Marielas Taco is a viable contender. MEXICAN COKE IS SAFE (FOR NOW) Numerous reports online claim that Coca Cola from our neighbors to the South will no longer contain real cane sugar, amidst an increase in tax for sugary beverages in Mexico. However, that news is false and the sweetener in the soda pop will not be replaced by high fructose corn syrup. That's not the case for Coke sold in Mexico. The fizz chugged in vast quantities by Mexicans has long been sweetened with a mixture of high fructose corn syrup and cane sugar. The mix varies, depending on which sweetener is cheaper (http://blogs.wsj.com/corporate-intelligence/2013/11/05/have-no-fear-your-mexican-coke-will-remain-as-sweet-as-ever/).

    I. love. Tacos J. The first time I tried it, I was blown away. The tortilla is a little crispy because they fry it, the meat is delicioso, and it is the perfect drunk food! I keep coming back here every time I'm in K-town... sometimes I go to K-town just for Tacos J! But the last time I went, it wasn't there and I was genuinely so sad I wanted to cry. I introduced my friend to this truck and we both gobbled down 3 tacos in like 2 minutes. I go to school in San Diego so we go across the border a lot to Mexico for tacos and I have to say Tacos J is as good as, if not better than, Mexico tacos. Cheap, yummy, and fast. What are you waiting for?

Because I had the chicken burrito I give it 2 stars.. If I try this truck again, definitely no chicken. I couldn't even finish the burrito (too many chewy bits) and I definitely wasn't satisfied. Don't get the chicken. Boo. Also, the red hot sauce is totally overpowering. I put a few drops onto my crappy burrito and it's all I could taste.. Which surprisingly didn't help the burrito taste any better. My friend and I only decided to eat here because it was one of the only trucks around that's open on a Monday. I'll try Juanita's again just to be fair.. Maybe.

    Al Pastor burrito!

Was trying to resist 1am late night munchies but... ended up walking to Juanita's taco truck. Did I feel guilty and hate myself? Yes... but it was definitely worth it. Boyfriend and I got 8 Al Pastor tacos and 1 burrito! Some of the meat was burned, but didn't really mind it. No line late at night (surprisingly), so we got our food quick! Basic condiments (hot sauce, salsa, etc) available and they pack you onions, beets, and cucumbers separately with your order. Overall, burrito was bomb and tacos were good toO! Buttttttt if I had to choose, I would still say El Taurino has the best Mexican food in South LA (which was a little disappointing because I was really hoping to find a closer location for late night tacos, and Juanita's wouldve been perfect..) But I would still come to Juanita's again if not in the mood to drive to El Taurino. I recommend Juanita's for a quick bite to eat, drunchies, or late night grubbing! There arent any tables set up outside the truck so expect to take your food to-go.

Thank god for this place, really. I can walk here from my place and their burritos are large and only cost $5. Full of meat too, not over filled with beans and rice. They have a good selection of salsas, even a creamy avocado sauce. This is my burrito and taco spot from now on.

The menu is quite simple, but beware that no prices are listed on the main menu, but they are on the paper menus. They accept Apple Pay/credit cards. I ordered the asada burrito and the pollo caramelo and added the grilled poblano (as recommended on Yelp!). The tortillas were the true stars -- soft, nice chew, with a buttery mouth feel (probably lard). The fillings were just ok. The inside reminded me of a Taco Bell 7 layer burrito -- a lot going on but all the flavors kinda blend together. I (incorrectly) thought the beans were refried, but they are not. Whatever is going on inside, I didn't find much structure. The burrito was the best. The caramelo was a lazily folded burrito. I read that it was like a quesadilla, but I couldn't disagree more. I would skip this next time. I spent $25 and it was a lot of food, but I wasn't impressed, especially given the hype and the fact that LA should really be the pinnacle of Mexican food. Not sure if I'll make a second trip here.

Now when you pull up originally you might think, "am I in the right place" but once you park and get into the courtyard, it is LOVELY! Amazing ambience! There is a bocce set up, string lights. It is a little slice of oasis in the middle of the fashion district. The restaurant itself - beautiful. I couldn't ask for more. Absolutely perfect in my book. Beautiful plants hanging, perfect Spanish music in the background (any place playing Natalia LaFourcade is a win). The drinks were great! I had the jungle bird which was fun. Food was so good too. The whipped beans are the star! We had the guacamole which was tasty, great tostadas with it. The arepas were good but the pork belly was a little too fatty (I know pork belly is always fatty) to the point the fat muted the flavored for the arepa a bit, but still delicious. The empanadas were great and as someone who lived in South America and ate empanadas every day, these really took me back to my Paraguay days. The squash blossoms were light and perfectly fried. Unfortunately my friends had gone to Funke the night before so they were comparing the squash blossoms and Funke won out, but they still liked Dama's! Small plates were enough for the 3 of us. The service was quick and attentive. Parking was easy for us. I will definitely be back!

The staff are lovely humans who really seem to care about their customers. We have some faves on the menu. The bean dip is fabulous and I'm addicted to the baby gem salad. They have recently amped up the filling in the delicious crispy squash blossoms and I love the acidity and heat. The fish is also a hit in my books. One dish that doesn't work for me is the lamb chops, which is a shame since it's my favorite protein. I've ordered them multiple times with clear instructions on temperature and have found them overcooked and tough. The beef tostada was just ok. Whilst I loved the pickled veg on the side, the beef was underseasoned. It wasn't bad - just not up to the standard of other dishes. The vibe in the place is welcoming and the restaurant is nicely appointed. We will continue to be regulars and it's really worth trying if you haven't been yet.

The mole was rich, complex, and full of flavor, exactly what you would hope for from a restaurant known for its Oaxacan specialties. As a welcome appetizer, they bring fresh chips and salsa to the table, but what really impressed us was when they replaced the salsa with their incredible mole sauce. I browsed the menu and had a really hard time deciding, but ended up on the cauliflower rajas taco, the crispy shrimp taco & the vegan Korean BBQ taco. The waiter recommended the crispy shrimp taco, but I actually enjoyed the vegetarian tacos more. I love cauliflower and poblano so that taco was a great starter. So much flavor and a variety of textures. The tortillas were super flavorful too. The potato taquitos came next and I am actually obsessed. The outside was perfectly crispy, the interior was soft, flavorful & cheesy. The sauce complimented it perfectly. I can not recommend them enough. The crispy shrimp taco was really good, but I also tried a crispy fish taco and would honestly get that over the shrimp. I think there was mango or something in the coleslaw of the fish taco because it had a really nice fresh flavor to it. Last, I had the vegan Korean BBQ taco. The mushroom shreds & the flavor were just perfect. Again, as a pescatarian I have really never had Korean BBQ because it's so heavily meat focused. I truly loved this taco. Scallop aguachile - wowwww the scallops were so fresh, literally bursting is my mouth. They were sweet, tender, and perfectly paired with the tangy lime sauce. Taco de pulpo - ok so this is pretty much an assembled pulpo à la brasas, BUT I will say the full meal was more tender because it was an entire grilled piece of grilled vs one tentacle.
