Juanito's No more.... I used to come to this restaurant years ago, food was always fresh, boasting with flavor and DELICIOUS. I stopped going there as I moved out of the area... but tonight I happened to be back in the area and the first thing that came to mind was Juanito's. We'll, what a difference 20 years makes... the food here has hit rock bottom... awful... I ordered a ceviche that came to the table minus the ceviche... zero citrus present... the lemons and limes are what's suppose to cook the shrimp and imbed the taste ... zero flat taste...but, that in actuality was the best part of the meal, as everything slid downhill after that. My tacos came out - chicken, beef and pork... the meat was dry, flavorless and the meat was indistinguishable ... I couldn't tell which was which... The Beef fajitas came out ... once again the meat was dry, tasteless and piled on top of what looked like frozen veritable mix (a la supermarket frozen bag, but the brand-less type)... one bite of the fajitas, and the taste was awful, something was off about it... so the dish remained uneaten. When the waiter came back he asked if we wanted a box to pack it up... I told him, no... The dish was awful... so he took the dish away... No apologies, no comments, nothing... Came back with my bill (and no adjustments, not that I was expecting any. But any reputable self respecting restaurant, would have taken the dish off the bill). I paid the bill, (and they had no shame to charge pretty well for garbage 3rd rate food) and we left... we were both beginning to feel a bit stomach-sick before leaving the restaurant too... We'll never set foot in Juanito's again... EVER ... EVER.... From the once marvelous restaurant and food it represented it is a culinary dump now... basically inedible (to anyone who has taste buds and knows good food). Such a shame.... The laughable moment of the nite was when the waiter was asked what's good here he said everything! Ha! Nothing is the right answer. read more

Got some great takeout on Thursday night, during the whole Covid thing when you can't go out anywhere. Had amazing enchiladas in green sauce, guacamole to go... My boyfriend had some seafood dish with clams shrimp scallops and calamari and it came with rice and beans also. You can choose from refried beans or black beans on all their dinners. Our favorite, local Mexican restaurant. This was where we celebrated the closing on our home four years ago. We've been coming back ever since, bringing friends & family. A friend who lived briefly in Mexico said it was authentic Mexican cuisine. We've always been happy with our meals, the service and ambiance. read more

Probably my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. I've been to quite a few including some in downtown Freehold and Farmingdale, but they really don't compare. The only one I like better is actually the original Juanitos in Red Bank so that says a lot. My go to meal is the enchiladas Del Mar but I also recommend the fajitas. My husband loves the lamb fajitas and it comes with SO much meat. I also judge Mexican restaurants base on their guac and Juanito's II has the best around!! They make it in front of you and add jalapeños depending on your preference (Definitely add it!). Anyway, this place is awesome and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a good meal read more

Came here for dinner with friends, it's BYOB place and next to Taco Bell. We skipped the appetizers and ordered our entrees Chicken chimichanga Beef burrito Chicken enchiladas Shrimp & beef fajita - my order My friends liked their dish and mine was ok. It consists of strips of beef and 3 boiled shrimp and not grilled with typical fajitas. The vegetable has onions, pepper and broccoli, a first for me. The service was a little slow even though there were only three other tables with customers. It was a decent meal and nothing to get excited over. read more

Just had lunch their today and must say my wife was right about going here. The server gives you hot homemade chips and salsa. The salsa is one of the best I've ever had , simply amazing. There is a little kick to it that makes it addicting. (Also order a side of the verde sauce . This is great too!) We went with the server's recommendation of the home made jalapeño poppers. Simply some of the best I've ever had. Served with Sour cream and on top of a cheese sauce. Yum. For the entree we both had the fajitas. The refried beans were creamy and delicious as well as the guacamole and rice. Hands down a top place for Mexican in the Monmouth County area. 5/5 read more

I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. I've read reviews that were raving and then those that bluntly said I'd be better off going to the Taco Bell across the street. My family and I had a great experience! In this area, there's a dearth of good Mexican food. This place certainly makes up for it. The decor was bright and inviting and the restaurant was very busy -- always a good sign! The staff was attentive to our orders and did not rush us at all. They brought out chips and salsa to begin. We got our wine bottles uncorked and then ordered the queso and grilled chicken fajitas. The queso did not meet the expectations of some that I've tried for example, in Texas, but it was one of the better ones I've had in NJ. It was topped with spinach and arrived on a sizzling platter. The chicken for the fajitas was tasty and the dish came with rice, refried beans, fresh salsa and guacamole. We combined everything in a warm tortilla and it turned out to be comforting and delicious! We finished our meal with the flan, which had a great softness to density ratio. I was disappointed that the whipped cream was regular canned whipped cream and not fresh... If you're craving Mexican food and a comforting vibe surrounded by friendly staff and several local families, this spot is it. It's reasonably priced and the BYOB factor is great! This restaurant was recommended to me, so my husband and I went in for dinner on a Friday evening. The restaurant wasn't super busy, but there were a decent size crowd. My husband and I ordered the same dish:(Burrito De Mariscoc - A flour tortilla stuffed with shrimp, scallops, lobster meat, spinach, diced tomatoes, broccoli, zucchini and carrots smothered with cheese topped with lobster cream sauce). We had just started eating, and as it was really hot, I cut the burrito open and while my husband's burrito was fine, according to him, mine lacked the seafood, but was filled with the veggies. I immediately brought this to the attention of the waiter, and asked him to find and identify the seafood, because I didn't see any. He took my plate and stated that he brought it to the attention of the chef, who stated that I had the same amount of seafood in mine as my husband did. NOT TRUE! I had cut the burrito opened and picked through it, I had exactly three pieces of shrimp, no scallops, and a minute piece of lobster meat. Because the burritos were made together, my husbands burrito got all the seafood. We still had to pay $24 for something I didn't eat because there was really no seafood in it. I've been to Juanitos maybe eight times now but never reviewed it. It's been here for years on Rt 9 and Aldrich Road. It never seems to be too busy and it wasn't on this Sunday night when me and my brother decided to stop in. The chips are always fresh and crispy as is their salsa albeit not at all spicy. That is easily remedied with the addition of the habañero sauce that's within easy reach. It's BYOB so drink accordingly. I had the Taco Salad Verde. It consisted of Spinach and Lettuce with guacamole, blackened shrimp, bay scallops, pico de gallo, and a little I can't call it grated cheese but tiny, I guess it's shredded Monterrey cheese in a fried green spinach salad shell. The salad was pretty good, not outstanding. The shrimp and the scallops were moist and done decently, spiced, but I'd hardly call it blackened. Although my entrée was decent I don't see me looking to get it again. I've had the quesadillas in the past and I remember them being pretty good but like most Mexican restaurants it seems they go light on the beans. Not sure why. Beans are fairly inexpensive. Maybe complaints of customer flatulence? Who knows? All in all it's a pretty good Mexican restaurant although prices have jumped up considerably since my last visit. Delicious food, and fast. Big portions for the price and close to my new home. I've had juanitos in red bank and this is just as wonderful. Try the chipotle cream sauce. My wife and I came in for lunch. We were seated quickly and offered beverages right away. Chips and salsa were tasty and fresh. My wife had a vegetable burrito. She ordered medium and it came out mild, but it was very good. I ordered lamb fajitas and I was impressed! The lamb was tender and they managed to carmelize the onions, nice job. Rice and other sides were very good. For this particular visit we did not bother with desert because we were full, the portions are large! The place needs a little sprucing up. Maybe some new ceiling tiles, chairs and that sort of thing. Note that it appeared clean, just outdated. read more

This would be my third visit here and first in the past year. The prices have gone up quite a bit, probably due to the success they have had and the rent on the building. I always enjoy a Mexican fare. The whole staff is native Mexican and we were greeted and seated as soon as we arrived. The server brought us a great tasting salsa with chips. We ordered our drinks and perused the menu. I ordered the combination chicken/beef fajitas which came out piping hot. I thought the side order was a tad skimpy for the size of the fajita entrée. I did not request any more of it. I pumped it up a little with their hot habanero sauce. With that "heat" it was excellent. I did not recognize nor did I ask what my brother's dish was. So I cannot comment much on that, but I will say that he didn't enjoy his plate as much as I did. Though the staff was very friendly we did not engage in dialogue with them due to their lack of speaking English. Honestly used to love this spot but the lack of care for customers and terrible customer service is unforgivable. The fajitas are usually my go to but I wanted to try a salad here. Got a take out salad and the salad was drenched in dressing. I thought it would be common sense to put dressing ON THE SIDE. Before grabbing my takeout I noticed there was no dressing on the side and the worker was very rude and with an attitude responded "we've been serving salads like this for 20 years your salad won't be soggy." I get home and the salad is extremely soggy. Don't pay over 20 dollars for a subpar salad here and don't come here if you care for customer service. This started off good -went for lunch, no wait- chips and salsa came right out. Salsa was fresh chips were warm. But they were gone and no more came or were offered. Never offered a refill on my drink. Menu was huge. Tacos didn't have much flavor Enchillant Del Mar waa mostly shrimp, habenero sauce was good but all the seafood was overcooked and rubbery. I like this place. They always put out chips and salsa when you walk in, which you would be surprised how many places actually don't do this. My food didn't come out after that long and was good as well. I think this place is successful and really puts a dent in the fast food Mexican places. Came here yesterday for the first time. The food was absolutely fantastic! Ordered a chicken burrito and my friend ordered a chimichanga. We also got the table side guacamole and it was fresh and delicious! The service was a bit lacking they didn't really check on us much or refill our water glasses often. But the food made up for it! My friend & I came here & thought we would be enjoying authentic Mexican food & drinks, come to find out, they do not serve drinks & its BYOB (beer & wine only). That may have been my mistake when looking up the place but that wasn't my issue. Parking-The lot setup is awful, people come in the exit & if you can't find a spot you have to go back out onto the highway to get back in & park in the Taco Bell lot instead. Not sure why they don't have a "do not enter sign" at the exit. Service-We waited at the front desk for about 5 minutes until someone actually showed up & the exact words he used were "hold on a sec" instead of the proper "sorry for the wait, I will be right with you, thanks for understanding!" The waiter kept forgetting about our table, didn't check on us one time & kept forgetting drinks/food. There were only 5 other tables seated & I saw him standing there half the time talking, as we were seated to where we can see the back area. Food-the food here was not good at all. I've been to plenty of Mexican places in north Jersey that are so flavorful that this seemed like a complete joke. We got steak quesadillas as an appetizer & they were cold, bland & cooked well done so we were chewing forever. I ordered chicken flautas & they were super dry & bland, had 0 flavor even with the sauces all over it. My friend got the tamale & burrito combo. She mentioned it was bland & the tamale was pretty hard to eat. PS-each table gets chips & salsa, after 1 serving there's a $2.00 fee for every extra order. (For ex when you go to Cheesecake Factory & they give you bread, it's as if they charged you for every extra bread set you ask for).They charge you $3.00 extra for a plate if anything that is "being shared". Nothing about this place was "authentic", not even the decor. The food was tasteless & bland. The service wasn't good & the place was dead. Wouldn't recommend. read more

Forgot to bring a fork to one of the couples had to wait to find waiter for 10 minutes.. Finally get the last dish it was wrong it was for the table next to us. The waiter had the order wrong.
