Ms. Fara is one of the greatest of all time. She loves those kids like her own, and knows how to get the most out of them in the classroom. My child attended Southwest Legacy from 4th grade to 8th grade. It's been a mixed experience…read more Teachers are hit or miss. Overall though, they seem pretty decent and want your child to succeed, even offering free after school tutoring. Some were very quick to respond to emails, some you would wait 1-2 days before hearing anything back. As far as homework load, that seemed fairly balanced. My child didn't have much trouble getting it done. My only suggestion would to be to switch up the semester Science projects. It was the exact same packet and project choices, for five years. They never did anything different and by grade 8, my child was mind numbingly bored with the same options. Next: bullying and drugs. Bullying is absolutely not tolerated here. Shout out to the Vice Principal, Mrs. Chipman, whom nips it in the bud with a quickness. They also have zero tolerance when it comes to drugs and are swift to react to any incidents. So high kudos for that. School events; a few are themed and very cute, others thrown together with very little thought (especially this last year). There would be only a couple days notice to the day before the event. It was strange. Graduation for 8th grades was not well executed either; no enforcement on the 4 tickets limit given so everyone that wanted to, attended (aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, you name it). They ran out of seating quickly due to this. It was unfair to those that followed the guidelines and they never addressed it. For a school that is so stringent with kids regarding rules, that was a bit disappointing to see. Next up, the front office... if you're lucky enough to catch them on a good day, they can be very helpful but again, that is a mixed experience. Catch them on (regular) bad days and they are dismissive, short, and rude. As someone who has to make calls throughout the day at my job -and- taking in consideration that I'm sure they deal with a few unpleasant parents, I'm always polite, not once ever calling with an attitude. It doesn't seem to matter. And God help you if you get ahold of Alisha; the rudest, most foul tempered of the lot. How she still works there is absolutely beyond me. If I spoke to clients the way she does to parents, I'd be fired in an instant. It got to the point that if I heard her voice answer, I would just hang up and try again later. Last but not least, the emails. I get that they need to keep people informed but the frequency that they send them is just obscene. I'm not joking. It's -at least- three times a week and the timing is so random. Sometimes you'll get them at 2pm and sometimes you'll get them at 5pm, 7pm, and up to 9pm. Weekends aren't safe either. They really need to learn to reel that in with designated frequency, days, and times. It gets overwhelming quick and it's easy to miss updates. Overall, it's an okay school but needs some restructuring, especially the front office staff.

The school has a lot of bullying issues and doesn't have a proper way to resolve them. Their method is to give "lunch detention for a few days" including the child who gets bullied. "To be fair". What is that teaching our children? To me that is absolutely absurd! If my child feels the need to defend themselves, why should they be punished? My child received death threats from other students and has attempted to push off other students, and yet gets punishment. My child doesn't feel they are able to speak up, and feels discriminated. "Mommy, why am I the only one getting in trouble?". A child should not feel this way at a place of learning and what is deemed as "safe". I am not the only parent who feels this way as I have asked others about their impression of Tony Alamo. My child did not dislike attending school until we ended up with this one UNFORTUNATELY. I do not recommend this school AT ALL.

It was slightly frustrating, but once in, it's a wonderful place. Teachers are incredible and kind, communicative and supportive. I've decided that the idea of a successful education is all about the cooperation and coordination and commitment of parents and teachers. Communication is key and knowing the difference between academia and childcare is key. Doral is not the latter. It requires input and involvement. When this is done well, I feel like the kids win. Administration is bomb. Teachers are first-rate. The facilities are great, despite its smaller footprint. Love this school.

It…read morewas a VERY difficult time, but I was very lucky to have Mrs. Cataneso (we called her Mrs. Cat) She spent her own lunch breaks teaching me English from the very beginning, literally starting with the ABCs, she made a huge difference in my life, and I will always be grateful to her! But experience with her doesn't reflect the whole school. I also faced bullying, because I didn't speak English, I couldn't express myself or ask for help. My daughter will be attending this school next year, and I sincerely hope things have improved, especially in terms of supporting students and preventing bullying.

When he finally began attending, he was placed in the incorrect grade, and we were not informed until later that he would need to be moved to a lower grade. The school did not proactively contact us until I escalated the issue to the regional office and filed a complaint. Overall, this was a very frustrating experience that I wouldn't wish on anyone and I would strongly recommend avoiding this school.

I was concerned for him but couldn't even get his teacher at his old school to return my phone calls. After I moved him to Batterman the teacher there actually took the first stepped and reached out to us about his concerns and with his help we were able to get our son diagnosed with his learning disability. He is now doing better in school then ever! Mr Sparrow, the principle is very caring. We have been very happy with all of the teachers our kids have had throughout their time there. The teachers are all willing to set up time to sit down and talk if there are any issues or concerns. All the parents that I have talked to all love Batterman and fill lucky to have their kids be able to go to such an outstanding school. Our kids have grown a lot academically here and love going to this school.

Her third grade teacher, Mrs. Meuse, would constantly pick on her over oblivious stuff. The teacher even wouldn't sometimes let them use the bathroom. In her 4th grade year, someone made a complaint that she was BULLYING someone. And I know my daughter, she wouldn't bully someone or do anything like that. She's a shy, but outgoing girl. Whilst this whole situation, the principals would not let her have her opportunity to speak about the incident. And, don't even get me started about her 5th grade year. She got bullied the most in that year, THE WHOLE YEAR. By 5 girls, and the principals saw it. But, wanna know what they did? Nothing! This school is HORRIBLE, do NOT enroll your kids here.
