As a Vegas native who also went to Clark County School District schools growing up, despite what everyone says about the ratings, I am proud to let my kids be part of CCSD. There are so many incredible teachers, staff members, and schools that truly care about the children and families they serve. One of our favorite parts every year is their annual multicultural event. It is always so well organized, fun, and meaningful. We love seeing all of the different cultures, performances, food, and activities that bring the families and community together. It is such a beautiful way to celebrate diversity and make every child feel included and proud of who they are. I Went to one of the CCSD Dream meetings and spoke to Joan who pawned me off one someone else and that person said they would take care of the situation and make sure students are only having 20 minutes a day. 20 minutes of iPad is too much for a kid. Hell anytime on iPad is. That's why Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg kept their kids away from an iPad and phone - they destroy minds! That school also only gives 15 minutes of recess!

We are happy with the school and staff. Coming from the over-crowded, over-stretched public school system, we are relieved to see our children accepted and not just doing well, but thriving. The upper campus kids especially love the block scheduling, as they are able to truly get some valuable class time in each subject. The homework is a perfect blend of rehashing the days learning and getting prepared for the exams. The teachers actually get to know the kids since class size is never a problem. My 4th grader loves his teacher, and with that comes respect and a desire to be the best student he can become. And being a Christian school, the true focus is on a rounded and grounded Cristian education. As with all schools, there are mistakes that have been made, and there are the occasional small problem. But the difference is that the staff and leadership truly will try to correct them. A parent is always welcome to speak with any of the staff, and the superintendent holds monthly meetings where anyone can come and voice concern or praise. What more could a parent want?

They let cars speed off, especially on the second lane while your child is trying to get in the car.. they once called my daughter into the office to ask if they can look at her phone if a teacher is texting her... They did not even check with the parents... my daughter said they ask weird and unfair questions and ask her to swear to secrecy.. well when she got home, she told me, but it happened and said that the questions were really unfair and that they are trying to set up a teacher and get him in trouble... what the school can improve on is to respect both parents and kids safety... It's quite a change in his academic progress and his enthusiasm for school. He says Yayy every morning when I tell him what day it is, and that's school day. He started reading when he was four and a half. I don't have to ask him twice when it's reading time at home. Somehow Challenger got him to feel like he is having fun when he reads or works on the worksheets. He is able to explain to me errors he makes on his worksheets at school, and able to show me corrections. I am happy with his academic growth at this school. I like that the school entrance is locked at all time. You can't get to the front desk before you get approved to pass through the locked entrance There were couple times I had issues with admin. At first, I didn't know the school required uniform shirt and pants. I only ordered my son uniform shirts and went to buy him pants from a clothing store. One day he came home in someone else's pants with no note to explain why his pants were changed. When I called, that was when I was informed about the mandatory uniform. I was upset at how they made him change into different pants at school, and how they didn't have the courtesy to call me to work out the uniform issue. Another time was when I received a past due notice, and a warning of my son's school termination if the past due was not taken care of by so and so date. I was not made aware of the due. When I called the school to take care of the amount, I was told that it was from the one day that we picked him up late. Ms Brenda always calls me back in timely manner. For how happy my son is at this school, I can look past all the admin issues I have had.
