An absolute staple in Winston-Salem! Juice Shop is a very humble storefront in Thruway Shopping Center. There's not a ton of parking, but you can usually find a spot. Check out the menu posted outside before you go in if you're a newbie, because the line moves very quickly. They used to be cash only, but they do now accept cards. They do offer mix ins (first one is free) like calcium, protein, and bee pollen. They also showcase a smoothie of the week, which will be slightly discounted that week. My personal favorite is the guava gulp! I also love the strawberry splash, but I like to sub the frozen yogurt for pineapple sherbet in that one. I personally would try them without add ins on your first visit - the protein specifically does alter the taste a bit. There is no seating inside, you'll walk up to the counter to order and stand to the side to await your smoothie. They are in the $6-7 range, but they're pretty big. We visited on a busy Friday afternoon. It's a basic smoothie shop with a smallish menu and only one size. The shop itself was also basic. The size of the smoothies aren't displayed so I asked the guy behind the counter. He explained that you could get the regular size split into two smaller cups, but they only sell them by that one size (20 some oz maybe). The ingredients are displayed on the marquee/menu. The smoothies are mostly comprised of juice and fruit. Some have yogurt/dairy. The kids working there were not very helpful but were pleasant. My strawberry splash smoothie was just okay. It was missing a "punch" of flavor imho. I preferred my husband's Peach, though you taste more of the orange sherbet than peach. He said his was "alright". read more

I have been going to Juice Shop for more than 20 years and it still remains one of my favorite treats! The prices have gone up but the price on everything has gone up. The staff works quickly to get your order ready and can make suggestions on any changes you may need or want. If you haven't been here before, you will learn quickly that there is no intention of you staying in the store to enjoy your smoothie! I have been coming here since 2005. This is literally the best smoothie shop in Winston Salem. I always order the polar peach and my favorite thing about this place is the consistency they always taste the same and they are just delicious and even if you add protein to your smoothie, it does not change the flavor which I love! This place is definitely a staple, and they feature different smoothies every week as the weekly smoothie, and they are 75 cents off from their regular price. The parking here is not too bad but sometimes it is a little packed and considering it is a very small location you do have to park elsewhere but there is plenty of parking around considering there's a shopping center around the area. I watched a customer ahead of me complain and request a new smoothie. I totally thought nothing of it, only to later understand why. I took a sip of my guava gulp, only to taste a bland creamy mixture. There was no sweetness to it, as it was too late to drive back; I drank it. Most importantly, THEY NOW ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS!!! Ummm I am officially addicted to the Juice Shop. It is almost as if they add in some addictive substance in with my bee pollen and variety of fruits. The interior leaves much to be desired but I just go in grab my smoothie and go so it doesn't bother me. Mostly I praise the owner for thinking of this genius low overhead business model. They manage to have a line in January when it is 30 degrees out. I would give them five stars if they had size options for their smoothies, I would be happy even just with a medium and a large. Those things are huge and you have no choice but to go with it, unless you are a child and can get the kid's cup. My favorites so far have been Guava Gulp and Blueberry Blitz; the Arctic Orange is pretty good as well, reminds me of an old school Orange Julius. I was not a fan of the Berry Delight. This is a nice and simple smoothie shop located in the Thruway Shopping Center. It shares a corner with Kilwin's ice cream/chocolate store. Parking's easy to find, and outdoor seating's available. When you open the door, a giant menu above the cashier greets you. I chose the Guava Gulp (guava juice, banana, peaches, pineapple sherbet), recommended to me by my friend, while my friend ordered the Polar Peach. These two drinks are very similar. The only difference is the sherbet. I actually chose to remove the sherbet to make my drink non-dairy. At $5.75, it is expensive for a smoothie, but they do give you a large styrofoam cup with their cute polar bear logo on it. You can also add 1 additional ingredient to your drink for free. I go to the Juice Shop at least once a week and always order the Strawberry Splash. My favorite. BUT, occasionally, the smoothie does not get mixed completely and you are left with frozen whole strawberries in the bottom of your cup. Without these berries being mixed into the smoothie, it is not as flavorful. If you go, be sure the "maker of the smoothie" runs the blender a couple of times if yours has any frozen berries! read more

Such a staple in thruway. This place is simple and good. They have about 10 juice smoothies that you can add four different add ins, if you wish. They have a different special everyday that is under $5. Otherwise you're going to pay around $6-$6.50. I love the guava smoothie. It's the perfect amount of sweet and tart. A full one is too much for me so I get it split into two and share it or put one in the fridge for later. After hanging out at the dog park in the 90 degree weather, my friends and I were craving smoothies. Not having been to a smoothie shop in Winston, we decided to check it Juice Shop! We were all happy with our decision to give Juice Shop a chance! When we first arrived we were a little nervous, since there was a pretty big line. Luckily, the line moved very quickly and we were able to get our orders in. It was a hard decision, choosing which smoothie to order (since so many looked so good), I decided to get the Razzmatazz, which I highly recommend! My two other friends ordered Arctic Orange (tastes like a creamsicle!) and Cranberry Crush! I tried both of them and would get either of them! Stopped by The Juice Shop on Saturday for a quick pick-me-up. I chose the Cranberry Crush but really all of the flavors are fantastic. The smoothie is a mixture of fruit juice, sherbert, and fresh/frozen fruit. The serving size is pretty big and could easily be split by two who just want a little snack. I believe they all range between $4.29 and $4.69. These smoothies are well worth that much! The shop itself is pretty sparse without much seating so it's best just to get your smoothie and stroll the shops at Thru way or be on your way. NEVER GOING BACK HERE AGAIN........THIS IS BANANAS I went here summer of 2018 and got a smoothie, and specifically stated to not add bananas due to an allergy. I got my receipt and it said "no nanas". Smoothies aren't very photogenic (See photo) but this is my favorite smoothie spot I've ever been to. Beats the heck out of chains like Tropical Smoothie/Planet Smoothie/Smoothie king. Decided to get my favorite Raspberry Rush and was shocked to see the THREE young employees had on NO GLOVES and ABSOLUTELY NO SUPERVISION ..
