smoke coming out of the grill
Phil T.

It's worth the drive from DC solely to rip into a huge portion of the brisket - straight out of the smoker. This could be the best bbq I've had in northern Virginia. We didn't even plan on going to this venue - we just saw the giant smoker running at full blast while driving down the road and we HAD to stop. The second we were in line five other cars pulled off the highway but, thankfully, as you'll see in the attached photos - there was plenty and the price was fantastic. Cherry on the top of the whole experience was grabbing a homemade icy cold root beer from Paige's Pit stop to wash down the brisket that was literally pulled out of the smoker and sliced just for us. And authentic and top notch experience.

Good food and ambiance, a bit pricey for the entrees. The brisket was good but super fatty.

Smoked pulled pork bbq, mac & cheese, caribbean cabbage and veggies. So good!

We found Jules Caribbean BBQ food truck on the highway near the Lidl in Ashburn. It was noon, we had just gone grocery shopping and we were starving. We spied Jules Caribbean BBQ food truck and did a u-turn to seek it out. What a great choice we made. We got a giant helping of smoked pork BBQ, mac & cheese, and cooked cabbage. This is Caribbean soul food at its best. Jules is a native of Aruba and makes really excellent food. You can get a huge plate /box for less than $10. Thanks, Jules!

Brisket with a carb load of rice and Mac

A great friendly guy working hard to make sure we all have some good BBQ kissed with hickory, and boy is it. We had the brisket (juicy, tender, and succulent), pulled pork (no vinegar THANK YOU SIR), and some ribs (fall off the bone delicious), with his rice, Mac and cheese, and cabbage. His sides are as equally delicious. We had to sit in the car to eat. Not much sitting. But, we were very happy we stopped. Do yourself a favor and make a pit stop, you won't regret it.

Jules is out at stone tower winery in leesburg today. Just had the ribs and chicken with collard greens. All great stuff. Went with no sauce because the smoke and seasoning alone was so good. Meat was tender and juicy. Paired well with our bottle of stone tower wind swept hill.

Jule's is NOT closed. Give them a call to see where they are. Jule's was at Old 690 Brewery. Not wanting run-of-the-mill BBQ, we decided to check them out first by having a discussion with the girl working the order window. She said she was fairly new with Jule's (keep her!) and we should have gotten her name to give kudos directly (no, your dad did not send us ). It was because of her enthusiasm about the food and her descriptions of the "sides" that made us decide to give Jule's a try. Jule was there serving us personally, plucking the juicy smoked meats directly from the pit smoker, just for us. Jule's BBQ would certainly win at the Houston Rodeo's BBQ competition. We don't usually get BBQ in Virginia, as we frequently visit Houston and there is amazing BBQ in Texas. We will now plan on visiting Old 690 and plan to have a meal there if we know Jule's will be onsite serving up his specialties. I imagine the "Caribbean" in the title confuses some, but this is just really great smoked meats with sides that someone gave thought to, instead of plain beans out of a can, and a chunk if bread as fillers. Jule's makes a tasty mix of onion, carrots, potatoes, spices and more sautéed together. In addition, he has a homemade mac-n-cheese. The girl described this by explaining it is really yummy (not out of a box) and they add four cheeses to the creamy mixture.

The best ribs in Front Royal!!

What a treat this was!!! Tucked away on a corner in Front Royal is this amazing Caribbean BBQ spot. I was lucky to be in the passengers seat as my guy and I were driving through town. Otherwise don't know that I would have seen this place. This was their first Sunday open and boy were we lucky!!! When we walked in the smoker was cranking. Could smell amazing BBQ smoking away. We ordered the 1/2 rack rib combo with a side of mac and collards. A quarter of jerk chicken and a side of red beans and rice. We took it to go, but you could also eat in. On another note...the man in there warmed my heart. I want to say it was the owner but I'm not completely sure. He was in there by himself doing it all. With a smile and with a sense of confidence in the food he was serving. Some places you can just tell the food was made with love, this place nailed it. The Smokey flavor came through so well on both the chicken and the ribs. Ribs were falling off the bone and seasoned perfectly. The jerk chicken was amazing. Be prepared for some heat, because it is powerful jerk. Anyone reading this please give this place a try. I love local businesses who put their heart into it. Try it and then tell all your friends and tell them to tell their friends!!! #localfoodisawesome

Gone through some old photos and saw my delicious burger from April 2018, the one time I visited…read morehere. In the 2010's, about a few times a year on average, I'd have work travel to Leesburg. I'd often be coming from my office at companies in Howard County or Halethorpe (Baltimore County), MD , so I almost took the less traffic northern route down I-70 to Frederick & down US 15 to avoid often times traffic somewhere on 495, avoiding toll on Dulles Toll Road & Green Way or slow of VA-7 all the way to Leesburg. The multiple times I was going down US 15, I was thinking it was a cute place, but left turn in and left turn out with sometimes a lot of traffic to make the left back onto US 15 wasn't worth it. And sometimes wouldn't be going back the same way as until 2017 lived in NoVA And even 2017-2020 Wheaton, MD, I'd still often tough it out take VA-7 to 495 and deal with nasty traffic to get back home. On Wednesday, April 4, 2018, I happened to have not eaten lunch, took US 15 back into MD, and decided to eat a late lunch here at Roots 657 on the southside of the small hamlet of Lucketts, VA. The outside of this place looks like a large barn. Inside the store, there's a gift shop like what you might see at Cracker Barrel, but less cramped and nicer. Ordering was at a counter with a chalk-written menu above. Staff was cordial. And the burger was big quite possibly the best burger I had in 2018 and a lot of fries too. Although work travel to Leesburg is highly unlikely these days, if I'm ever out there for work or other reason, I'd definitely want to revisit this gem.

A great local little joint. The food is awesome. Everything we've tried we've been very happy with…read more Will be sad to see it closing this month.
