We purchased a home that Joyce and her partner had renovated and flipped. Although we are happy in…read morethe home now, our experience during the purchasing process was horrific. As first-time homebuyers, we relied on Joyce and her team to be honest about the condition of the property and the repairs we requested. We were told that the requested work had been completed and were provided receipts as proof. We later discovered that the work had not been completed as represented and that the receipts provided to us were fake. The home was also supposed to be professionally cleaned before closing because it was filthy from the construction. During our final walkthrough, we documented that the cleaning had not been done and brought the photos and receipts with us to closing. When we raised these concerns with our lawyer present, Joyce proceeded to scream at us. Even her own lawyer acknowledged that it was obvious the home had not been cleaned. We were then promised that someone would return in the spring to clean the gutters, but that never happened. After living in the home for approximately one month, we also discovered serious basement water issues that had not been disclosed to us. Based on what we found, it was difficult to believe that the sellers had been unaware of the problem. During closing, we were also threatened with the claim that they could find another buyer the next day and were told the house was still being shown. This made an already stressful and intimidating situation even worse. Based on our experience, I do not recommend doing business with Joyce or her associates, nor would I recommend purchasing a home renovated or flipped by them. We learned a very difficult and expensive lesson through this process. Joyce should be ashamed of the way she conducts business and what she claims to provide to the community.

They aren't even going to paint it. This place is falling to pieces and city habitat just doesn't care.

I spoke with Beth (I believe) who told me I didn't receive a call because the Evanston agents only cover the Skokie-Rogers Park-Evanston area. According to her, they don't want their agents "stepping on each others territory." She listed off a few other excuses that she didn't seem too confident about before I decided to end the call. Am I wrong for assuming all of your locations operate under the company? It would've been nice if this were stated on your site or if someone could've contacted me to let me know. Or at the very least forward my info to the Lakeview office. Instead I waited a whole week when I could have used that time to search myself. I spoke with Beth again today and I just don't think this lady is cut out for client interactions. In short, she rushed me through the phone call (which was only 3 minutes long) and kept cutting me off. At one point she even said "I have another call on hold." I have an appointment set up through Bernard at the Lakeview Location, which sounds much more promising. I'll still go to my Evanston appointment and hope that I'll have a better in-person experience.

Stay far away from both of them. They constantly lied about everything. For example, they claim the apartments come "fully furnished," but they never give you an inventory sheet and stuff is broken anyway. They'll show you a shiny stainless steel grill on the patio that "they provide for the tenants", but if you try to use it you'll see that it's missing pieces and completely unusable. They will enter the apartment to show it to prospective tenants on less than an hour notice, even when told not to. They charge a cleaning fee to "professionally clean" the apartment between tenants, but there was ample trash (e.g. used razors in the shower) so I doubt this was done. Wasps plague the apartment over the summer, and the heat doesn't work in the winter. It wouldn't be fair to write a review without trying to say what's positive about the place. Robert does care about the property. Even though I watched him stiff multiple handy men, he does know what he wants fixed and how to fix it for cheap. He is also an extremely good salesman. You will be extremely impressed as he shows you around the property. Don't fall for it. Finally, if you're dead set on living on Garnett Pl, know that most of the homes are frats/sorority houses and have all the concomitant features like sticky floors, etc. This is one of the nicer homes on the street, and a very convenient location. I attach some pictures, but it's truly not bad for an old apartment. My complaint is just that the landlords are horrible. Good luck on the apartment search.

Amazing farmers market two blocks away complete with produce and delectable baked goods. Units located not far from trendy downtown Evanston. Perfect for college students, even freshmen away from home for the first time. Large rooms, many with private vanities, apartments to share, private one bedroom apartment as well as parking space rentals available. I love the safe, clean feeling of this neighborhood and the "Subway" sandwich shop within walking distance. Shopping, movie theater and many other restaurants not far away. Fair, friendly management create a home away from home for students year after year.
