I had such a valuable, rewarding, 6 out of 5 experience externing at this office and learning from Dr. Schmidl and her amazing team. This office follows all the safety and health standards, and has high standards in providing the highest quality care for each of their patients. I had heard that Dr. Schmidl is the best in Medford, and it definitely proved to be accurate after externing here! She has patients driving all the way from California to see her. Dr. Schmidl and her whole team are warm and welcoming. From shadowing and talking to each one of them, I can confidently say that you will have a positive experience here. I highly recommend Schmidl Orthodontics. The team is friendly and treats their patients with respect, patience, and kindness. The team is a tight-knit family and they all have such positive attitudes. I want to acknowledge each of the team members for their amazing personalities and skills they bring to their job. The front desk+business admin friendly angels: Brenda, Rachelle, Alex, Brittany The highly skilled dental assistants: Josh, Mari, Dee, Sharon, Kelley And if you're asking why you should give your money to Schmidl? Dr. Schmidl has an extensive background: Bachelor's in Neuroscience and Biology, Doctor of Dental Surgery degree, and a Master's degree in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. It was very inspiring to watch her interact with her patients and watching her work. You can tell she is huge on teambuilding and also creating a personal experience for her patients. She gets to know each and every one of her patients and build that friendly relationship and community. She is very talented and highly skilled, you can trust her to improve your new smile that will make you feel more confident and happy. Her attention to detail, her commitment to excellence, her passion in helping others improve their lives, and her perfectionism. She is very careful in making sure her work is perfect and satisfactory. She is super kind, but she doesn't shy away from being stern on making sure a patient keeps up with their oral hygiene and following the treatment plan. Wear your rubber bands! Not only should you have high standards for this team, but they will also hold you accountable in making sure your results will be amazing at the end. Dr. Schimidl is always furthering her education and staying up to date with all modern orthodontic advancements. Her work incorporates the latest advances in orthodontic treatment techniques and dental research. It was very cool for me to see all the latest 'gadgets' they use in their office. This team is very patient and offers great care. They will not send you home with wires poking at your gums, they make sure you feel happy. I was very impressed by how skilled the dental assistants are. They've inspired me to go into the ortho field. When you first go in for a consultation, they will discuss with you and go over all your options. They want to make sure you make the best decision for yourself. From all the patients I got to observe and assist with, no 2 treatment plans are the same. Dr. Schmidl will discuss with you what your goals are for your smile. You can trust that she can make that happen! To add to this already-long review: I was a patient here myself! On my last week at the office, I had a new pair of retainers made. I had a great experience. They made sure my new retainers were fitting well and nicely. And made tweaks to it until it felt perfect. The retainers are great quality and I am very happy with them! They (orthodontist and assistant) acted strangely indifferent about it. I also think there needs to be more transparentcy around the fact that most ,if not all, of the girls there are in an apprenticeship. Meaning they are basically students.

My appointment felt like a date with friends with a side of dental work! I needed my retainer replaced ASAP as I had lost mine camping the weekend before. They did impressions and got me my retainer in the same day that I had come in. I wish this had been my ortho office as a child, I would have enjoyed my braces so much more. I'm glad I have them for maintenance work now though! Highly recommend for kids and adults alike.

After that I avoided dentists until recent tooth pain I could not resolve on my own forced me into searching for a new one. Luckily I found Dr. Tanner after doing some research into nearby holistic dentists. After reading online reviews and speaking with very helpful and friendly staff who assured me my specific needs and concerns would be catered to (i.e. not forcing unnecessary x-rays on me when I am electro-sensitive, and not exposing me to chemicals that trigger bad reactions due to my MCS/chemical sensitivities), and explained that Dr. Tanner did his best to first save teeth before heading down the root canal/crown/extraction road, I went ahead and made an appointment. And what I can say is I am so glad I did! Dr. Tanner and his staff made me feel totally at ease and comfortable and really took time to listen to my concerns and address these with patience and caring attention. Dr. Tanner has a great bedside manner and treats patients as fellow humans, whom he does his upmost to help. In my case he worked with me to come up with creative solutions to my problem without causing me any financial ruin or other trauma. I would definitely recommend Dr. Tanner, whether or not you are specifically looking for a holistic approach. But if you are then he's the one to see, and especially if other dentists have let you down and led you astray in the past. While I didn't directly see him interacting with kids, I could tell that he'd be really good with them, especially any who are usually afraid of dentist or doctor's offices (or adults who are afraid.. like me!).
