The Resturant is adorable. Our waitress (Sierra) was an absolutely delight and the food as awesome. Nothing was cold. Which is a pet peeve. I had the meatloaf and the hubs had a burger. We popped in to try this place during a visit to Murphy, NC. The staff here were all very friendly and they were wearing masks. We were seated at a table that was distanced from others which was great since this is during COVID. We were given the menu with their Sunday specials. You pick your entree and it comes with unlimited sides to share. My boyfriend ordered meatloaf and I ordered chicken and dumplings. The sides for the day were mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, pinto beans, and fried squash. After a short wait, our food arrived and we dug in. The chicken and dumplings were delicious. Their version is the more thick stew style and had a great flavor and melt in your mouth dumplings. The corn on the cob was tender, the fried squash was yummy, and the pinto beans were actually my favorite. They had a lot of flavor. The mashed potatoes could have used some gravy which I'm sure I could have requested, but I was getting full anyway so I enjoyed them fine as they were. My boyfriend liked his meatloaf as well. The meals also come with your choice of dessert. I chose the apple bread pudding which was soooo good! Meals are also served with homemade biscuits with butter and warm apple butter. I could have easily just filled up on these! All of the items plus your beverages are included in the menu price of the entree so it's a lot of food at a really good deal. Julie herself came by and checked on us. The restaurant had nice decorations, both their holiday and regular ones and family pictures displayed in different areas. Love this cute little place!!! My husband and I ate here for the first time today. He got the country fried steak which was amazing! I got the fried chicken which was also delicious. We had four unlimited sides which were red smashed potatoes, green beans, coleslaw and corn. The sweet tea was the best I've had in awhile and we both got peach cobbler. This place is so cozy and comfortable. The servers work hard and are quick and friendly. It's a true down home feel with make-you-slap-your-Mama food, (but don't!) I love the okra and the fried chicken and the country fried steak. I like the daily specials and we loved the fish Friday so much we're going again tomorrow! This lady does it right! The restaurant is decorated in a country theme, which of course goes right along with the menu items being offered. Food quality and quantity was excellent. I had the Chicken and Dumplings which was plentiful and delicious; my only complaint was a paucity of chicken...but that was probably because we were there less than an hour before closing. My SO had the Grilled Rainbow Trout which she enjoyed but said it looked and tasted suspiciously like Tuna. All the sides we had: Green beans, broccoli, fried okra and Mac 'n' cheese, were very good, as was the Iced tea which our lovely waitress, Cynthia, kept coming. To round things off, we shared the Peanut Butter Pie which was positively sinful. All in all a very pleasant dining experience for a fair price, rounding off at about $25.00 per person. Maybe their everyday menu and food are acceptable, but their attempt at a Thanksgiving dinner was a big disappointment! 1/2 slice of turkey and ham, small cup of mashed potatoes and dressing, $29.00! What a hidden gem! 5 of us went there an service was great. There is a large variety to choose from: salads, seafood,chicken,meat, vegetables,soup plus daily specials. The servings are large. There is a sampler plate with meatloaf,chicken, and ham. We ordered chicken fried steak, tenders, veggie plate, sampler, and a cheesesteak wrap. Everyone liked what they ordered. The appetizers we ordered were fried mozzarella cubes, loaded potato wedges, and fried mushrooms. They were excellent. The table was set with fresh biscuits and apple butter as soon as we sat down. My wife and I stopped into Haney's on September 6th 2018 somewhere around 2:30 We were looking for a new restaurant to try in the Murphy area and Haney's was the ideal spot. It was a little bit off the main road from the casino, but well worth it. (Not too far.) Upon our arrival we were greeted very quickly and seated towards the front of the dining area near the windows. Our waitress was right on top of it, as we no sooner than sat down, she was right there to greet us. She was extremely polite, very properly dressed for the restaurant style. She seemed to have an air about her that made us feel like she really wanted to please you and see you happy with your dining experience. As a matter of fact, after looking around at all the employees, they all had a certain "above standard" look and attitude to them. They all seemed very eager to please. (Which is hard to find in most restaurants anymore. Bottle that employee hiring plan up, sell it to other restaurants, and you would make millions! anyway I digress...) We ordered our drinks and looked over the menu. It was quite a bit to take in but everything looked and sounded wonderful. As our drinks arrived the waitress asked us if we would like some biscuits and apple butter while we looked over the menu. Of course we graciously accepted her offer and continued overlooking the menu. As she returned with the biscuits and apple butter, we made our order. My wife selected the Hamburger Steak with peppers and onions, steak fries and a one trip side to the salad bar. I ordered the Homemade Meatloaf (a "very" generous portion) smashed Red Skin potatoes with a side of brown gravy and the macaroni and cheese. The biscuits and apple butter were truly amazing. Hot and steaming just enough to melt the apple butter, just right, but not too much so as to burn your mouth as you scarfed down those wonderful biscuits. They were seriously gone in a flash. (Makes my mouth water again just thinking about them.) We waited just a little bit for our order but let me tell you, it was most definitely worth the wait. Our meal soon arrived and we were in heaven. Everything was hot and fresh. Not a single item was cold, what-so-ever! The Meatloaf was enormous! It was every bit 31/2' to 4 inches wide or more and at least 3/4 to an inch tall. Both pieces! That's right, there were two pieces. The menu said generous and they were not kidding! The mac and cheese was so creamy and the potatoes with the brown gravy just melted in your mouth. Of course, I tried my wife's Hamburger Steak with peppers and onions and steak fries. IT WAS... out of this world! If I absolutely had to choose between the two of the meals, I would have to put on the "big-boy" jogging pants, the kind that stretch, and just order the both of them and take home any leftovers to enjoy later. (Because you will have some.) As a matter of fact, because we were traveling, I really tried to finish my entire meal but I just couldn't. I hated to leave those last few bites on the plate, but I did. My hat's off to Haney's! The food was amazing! The employees were exceptional. The owner came though the dining room about two or three times during our meal to check on everyone's dinners. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect meal. The meal, the atmosphere, it was all exactly what we were looking for on this day! A great little place, where the people honestly seemed to care and want you to have a great meal at a great price. What a wonderful experience. I came from Florida for a few days to enjoy NC mountain colors and came across this beautiful restaurant. My husband and I were greeted right away with friendliness. Every was wonderful. We had potato wedges as appetizer and catfish. Hush puppies were to die for as well. I am sure we would have loved dessert if there was room for it. Cat fish was a huge portion. Stopped by after a morning of looking at properties and hiking. What a cute and cozy spot. Thursday afternoon and it was really busy. We were greeted and seated quickly, and dove into the menu. Wow, so hard to choose, lots of southern comfort food, but had healthy fare as well. After sweet tea and piping hot biscuits (served with sides of butter and warm apple butter), we knew we were in for a great meal. I ordered one of the Thursday specials, Fried Green Tomato and grilled cheese and bacon sandwich with a side. Collard greens was my choice, and glad for it, they were delicious. My husband ordered the fried chicken which is made to order, it took about 20 minutes, but well worth the wait. They also do not skimp on the chicken. Three pieces, two legs and a breast. Super tender and crunchy. Prices were awesome, service was excellent. Made me sad I don't live here yet, but a little afraid I might become a sweet tea and biscuit junky.
