Preface by saying we are regular, local customers. Out of town guests today and nothing open but Chophouse, so we went for Monday burgers and $1 off beer. All 4 plates were terrible. Overcooked, dry, hardly able to choke down a couple of bites on dry buns. We DO NOT send food back. (They do spit in it, you know.) Won't be back and yes, we are yelping. Oh, and to top it all off, we were charged full price for all 4 beers, no $1 off on any of them. $28 just in beer. That would be OK if the food wasn't so inedible. Cook should be fired. read more

First time coming here on the recommendation from my Father-In-Law and he knocked it out of the park!!! Came for lunch which is a slightly smaller menu, but still had wonderful flavors and surprises! We ate here again because I was craving Prime Rib. They delivered. And with excellent service. So I am upping my review by a star. I will say it still was not 5 star even with perfect food and service. 2 reasons- while I dont know if the management knew a woman was going table to table promoting a women's group and quite frankly interrupting peoples dinner, that was #1. What I know they knew about was the feedback from the entertainment. I dont know if the artist couldnt hear it since they never fixed it,, but when something feeds back in your restaurant, you should say somthing to them. We enjoyed a lovely dinner tonight! We ordered the onion blossom appetizer - it was enough for 8 people! Huge! Cajun ranch sauce that came with it was delicious. We also enjoyed the salmon entree and a burger entree. Both were delicious. The highlight of our visit was this wonderful young server named Shamil (sp?). He was AMAZING! Professional, super friendly, very helpful and he really stood out as an amazing server and wonderful human being! I had the burger and hubby had the special - a New York steak sandwich. We both enjoyed our food. The glasses are a bit small, so we ran out of drinks quickly; I'd rather have a larger glass. We were a party of six for dinner. The service and food was very good. The menu was extensive and provided a wide variety of both seafood and steaks. We ordered the weekend special which was prime rib, others had the crab cakes and seared tuna. My only complaint was that when the entrees were brought out, two meals were missing and we waited for more than five minutes for the remaining meals to be served. Chophouse's service in Murphy, NC concluded in an unexpected classless (cheap) way, when the young girl at the bar presented our $28 bottle of wine in a white plastic grocery bag - in a appalling way. However, the food, drinks, ambiance and service was great, as we have previously experienced from other Chophouse locations. The service from Shamil at Murphy was courteous, attentive and exceptional! Considering Chophouse's reputation and prices as a brand, there should be NO TOLERANCE of white plastic bags for food and especially take-out wine bottles (see picture for details). Excellent experience! In town for the weekend to go rafting. Food was 10/10. Started with their bread and olive oil which was very fresh. Ordered wedge salad. If we go to a restaurant that doesn't claim to be a chophouse, we order it rare because they tend to overcook them. For such an expensive cut of meat, we were extremely disappointed. Sundays must be bad for Murphy's Chophouse. You'd think with a name like "Chophouse" there would be more "chops" on the menu. Sunday dinner menu had 2 pages of sandwiches, salads, appetizers, and an afterthought of 3 steaks. I ordered the ribeye with potatoes and veggies with a cup of she crab soup. The soup was the only thing that arrived hot. Too bad it was over salted. How do you serve a steak when you place butter on the meat and the butter doesn't melt? The potatoes were between cold and warm - is that tepid? Both sprigs of broccolini were good... yea. Both. Yes - I could have sent it all back... but it would have been "all". My wife's spinach salad with "hot bacon dressing" came with bacon dressing. Apparently Hot is not their forte. Glad I checked it out before I take my in-laws to dinner when they arrive in town. There are other choices here... perhaps Wendy's. edit: forgot to mention that the steak was tough and the steak knife was better at ripping the steak apart than cutting the steak. A quality cooked steak is hard to come by, and this particular experience didn't quite make the cut for me. Our waiter was also the bartender, which was strange. Tonight's dinner was one of the worst. First the hostess took us to our table and just piled the menus on the table. In an upscale restaurant with white tablecloths, one might expect the hostess to escort you to the table, wait until you are seated and hand each person a menu. It took one hour for us to get our food. The only fork we were given to eat with was a small salad fork. The food was barely acceptable. May 14, 2023, Mother's Day Lunch for 4 - We arrived with a reservation for Mother's Day made on their website weeks in advance. We travelled from Philadelphia and had actually picked out what we wanted. However we were told that the website was 2 years old and that was NOT the menu etc etc. Was a little weird we got 'schooled' on THEIR mistake? No matter we found some other good things to have. Service was a little quirky and possibly because it was mother's day and older servers were off or the younger crowd was not interested. We had some trouble flagging down our waitress a few times and the place was not packed or that busy. Clean and nicely decorated - a nice location and great environment. My SIL got the waffles that he said were fantastic. The waffle was cooked perfectly and the batter tasty and sweet. a little bacon on the side as well. A real treat. 8/10 My BIL and my wife, got the lobster lunch with a stuffed potato (bacon, cheese etc) and a roasted butternut squash. both enjoyed it, obviously we were not expecting a LI or Maine 3 hour old fresh lobster, and these were very good quality and seemingly well stored and transported inland to Murphy NC near Chattanooga, TN? The butternut squash was nicely cooked and tasty per them both. 8/10 I got the traditional eggs benedict with ham and potatoes (its become my reference standard for breakfast and sadly my CAC score is up to 185 and my cholesterol is up a bit to now 148 total - so we are backing off on this meal in the future) Muffin was pretty toasted and firm, the eggs were a little undercooked and snotty those yokes actually 'cool' - a little attention and a few more seconds.... the hollandaise sauce was congealed and cool as well (possibly sitting a bit before it came out with the rest??) not an exceptional flavor. I the oddest part was there were the two very diminutive slices of ham under the eggs that I don't think were 50% of the muffin's size? Almost a garnish? Equally economical were the ten little cubes of potatoes in the breakfast potatoes with the meal. I don't need a lot of potatoes but this was almost comical to my wife and brother-in-law! 5/10. We had a good time, nothing horrible, just not great. Service needs work, gotta fix their website and reservations and digital presence. Some work in the kitchen with cooking, ingredient, and portions. We will probably go here again to check it out next time in Murphy. read more

Came to the Chophouse on a Saturday early afternoon. We were seated immediately and greeted by our awesome server, Shamil. Started with an ice cold craft beer from Raleigh, NC, and mom had a delicious Pino Grigio. Shared the small spinach salad. It has been years since I've enjoyed a spinach salad with warm bacon dressing. Delicious. Fish and chips were highly recommended by Shamil, and so glad we followed his advice. Very crisp. Not greasy. Incredible tartar sauce. Hushpuppies and cole slaw also great. Wonderful overall experience and will return again soon. read more

- Soup of the day was Potato yukon soup. For me not being a soup person to have loved it so much that I wanted to almost lick the bowl entirely, this is the best potato soup I've had with sooo many seasonings and very thick consistency. It was a 10/10, for sure! I got the Fish and chips and just fell in love with the crispiness of the breading and not oily at all, the fish was very fresh tasting! The Tartar sauce was so different from any other I've had and so well seasoned! Coleslaw was soo fresh and fragrant with the apple cider vinegar. The hushpuppies were soo crunchy and tasty with onions and well seasoned inside. I upgraded the fries to the Parmesan Truffle Fries and I'm so glad I did because that burst of taste from the aged parmesan and that AMAZING garlic aioli sauce that was sooo well seasoned, again! I love well seasoned food and this was right on the spot! Haha The only downside was that I saw the menu online and was hoping to also try their other meats but the menu was different, so I guess it's a new experience every time you go. It was very off putting. You go to dinner to relax not to watch the staff running around giggling and being very unprofessional. Would have loved to have the choice to have dinner menu..., the waitress was ok.... My family has been in the restaurant business for over 25 years if these were my employees they would have been fired. We could hear the giggling from the kitchen as well. This is a terrible establishment. The following experinces have been directly emailed to he owner of both Chophouses (there's another in Franklin NC that this owner cares more for). I have been to this restaurant five solid times. When we first moved here, and the final time months ago. Each visit two things kept deteroriating: food quality and service. First and foremost the food. $200-$250 gets you typical pub food you have for $60-100 in about 10 other restaurants in in the Murphy/Hayesville/Bryson/Blue Ridge area. It is not spectacular, aged, great tasting, or even accurately cooked to order. Medium-well is well. Medium, is almost well. Medium-Rare will be Rare.. don't expect any logic but it could be tied to: Management: Within this restaurant there exists a clique. Friendly Waitresses and the 1-2 "manager" creeps that hit on them. No one has a sense of urgency, and I stress manager in quotes as the one we have had the displeasure or meeting appears to be 22-23 years old and the restaurant is the least thing he cares about. Due to this lack of urgency you will wait 45-75 minutes for your meal in a restaurant with 3 other occupied tables at the time. Comment on this and you will be told this is to foster "ambiance". Let them know you can't spend 3 hours at dinner and you will be banned for life by Jr. McHitOnWaitresses. (This happened to my spouse). You are on THEIR timetable, and delays, lazy cooking, lack of attention, high prices for small portions are obviously YOUR problem, because the staff is top notch heavily invested in socializing with each other. This place is the worst Murphy has to offer. Save your money and go to Legends down the street, where none of the above exists. read more

Went for an anniversary dinner. First problem was I needed a "handicap" space to get my wife's wheelchair out. The only space they had was occupied by a non handicap marked vehicle. Upon entering the restaurant I reported the illegally parked car and was bruskly greeted with "Oh, that car is broke down". Service was slow despite being there early and very few customers. Odered the Prime rib and since my wife and I cant really eat that much meat (small cut is 10 Ounces) waitress suggested a shared meal that would be cut in half and two separate plates with sides on each. Upcharge of $5 would be applied to the $40 original price for one meal. After a considerable wait the dinner arrived. The cut of meat was the worst prime rib we have ever eaten! Gristle throughout the entire slice. The rest was so tough we could only chew until what little flavor it had was gone and then spit out the leather that remained. To add insult to injury when we received the bill the "upcharge" was actually $8 and the waitress said "oh the price probably went up" We are not the kind to complain in most cases, and did not care to make a scene. What an amazing find. We drove up to Murphy for a day trip and we're looking for something dog friendly as we had our boxer, Knox with us. This was a perfect spot. The covered patio was fantastic, the food was amazing and the service wonderful! We had the calamari appetizer, quiche with she crab soup, BLT with sweet potato fries. All were fantastic. We also got the the apple cinnamon moonshine drink that was full of fall flavor and refreshing. If we are ever anywhere close again- I'd drive out of my way to go here!! What happened to the Chop House? This used to be our go to place for dinner; however, I'm not too sure if I would go back again after today's experience. We decided to have a late lunch; the place was not that busy. My wife ordered an Alfredo pasta dish; I ordered a rib eye steak. After placing the order, it took a LONG time to receive our food. Although the restaurant was not that busy, no bread was served or reason given for the long delay. The Alfredo looked good, but was modest portion. It had a hunk of Italian bread, but no butter or oil. The steak was loaded with fat and had little flavor. A side dish of broccoli was served, but it was overcooked and had yellowish color. VERY DISAPPOINTING MEAL. UPDATE (7/2024): Where's the beef?? Thought we'd give the Chop House another try. We went after the lunch rush and the young man who was our waiter was very nice. The table top, however, was very sticky and there was a distinct smell of mold in the air. Considering that the restaurant is called the Chop House you would think there would be steak, pork chops, or some other beef or pork offering. And now for the worst part: the men's room could rival an interstate truck stop for cleanliness. The smell of urine was so bad that you could smell it out in the front entry hall. RESERVATION CANCELED!! My wife made a reservation for Valentine's Day two weeks in advance. I listened to her makethe call. Late the next afternoon, she received a call asking us to move the time from 6:30pm to 7:00. No problem. We were happy to do it. On Feb. 13th, we receive a call asking why we were not at the restaurant. Of course, it's not Valentine's Day we responded.
