If I'm in the mood for seafood this is where I go. The decor is mediocre, but for what you pay, who cares?! The Mexican shrimp cocktail is delicious but on some days can be a little too spicy. Food was good, I read the other reviews and decided to bounce around with the appetizers and soups. I had seafood gumbo, shrimp gumbo, Mexican fiesta oyster and shrimp cocktail, (warning!!! This is a lot of shrimp and oysters in one glass and very tasty!) side of French bread, sweet tea. I was disappointed they did not have a bar that served alcohol but the sweet tea was good. In the crawfish gumbo; the crawfish tasted like they were out of the frozen package. The seafood gumbo had mostly shrimp. The atmosphere sphere is Blah... lots of room for improvement! Bright colors (blue/white/yellow/red all colors that represent the ocean and coral reefs... but it was green, dark with not a lot of light. Outstanding seafood; seriously one of the best meals I've had in a good while. The shrimp is by far the best I've ever had, and would make the place worth going to were it the only thing they sold. Chris and me here now. We each had pecan pie and is near best I've had from any restaurant. Chris had a combo platter of frog legs, etc. I got one and it was very good. I had crawfish ettoutefe?sp with steamed rice on side. Excellent. Nice portions. I would return. Food came reasonably quick also with great service. read more

Walked in and th' folks were pretty nice. The wife and I sat down and ordered the stuffed crab, fried shrimp, fried catfish, gumbo, and sides of cole slaw. Now y'all don't bother yourself with the crab or gumbo. The gumbo was like Campbell's soup with some very small shrimp in it. The crab? Kinda mushy and under cooked. Okay, enough bitchin'! The fried shrimp were the best I have ever had. They were huge and the batter was crisp and heavenly! Oh, and don't get me started on those catfish! Wow! Fried to perfection in real cornmeal batter. We go to Tyler 4-5 times each month and pass by this restaurant. We stopped recently and was pleasantly surprised. My wife and I split the 12 count Jumbo shrimp and had more than enough. We have not got shrimp this good since we left Houston. Daughter and Grandson liked the food and they are very finicky!!!! read more

Ok, let's start with the good! The cocktail sauce is awesome. The popcorn shrimp is light and flavorful. If you are going for that you will not be disappointed. The red snapper was very good as well. The seafood etouffee was worse than sink water after washing greasy pots and pans. The grilled shrimp was plain and rubbery. As far as the seafood gumbo? I think they could do better in Pennsylvania or somewhere else that has no idea what Gumbo is. No kids meals? Seriously? Lastly, the waitress with no name tag was rude and when i asked what they are known for she simply replied "you are lucky we are not busy". Dropped a Ben Franklin and it was worth a Hamilton at best. I went last night for dinner and ordered the combo meal with jumbo shrimp and red snapper. The batter they used for the shrimp was crunchy n heavenly and the cornmeal crust for the fish was great. I agree with the 1st reviewer...the ettoufee n gumbo wasn't that great. I also got grilled vegetables n they were oily. Next time I'm going to get them steamed or get a salad instead. Food was great at a great price. We shared a bowl of seafood gumbo and for lunch entree had fried catfish, hush puppies and french fries. The fish was crispy & seasoned well. Food stayed hot for a long time. French fries are tasty. The tarter sauce was very thin but my husband said he likes it thin because it doesn't drown out the taste of the fish. They were out of lemons but gave us lime instead which was OK. Only improvement I'd make is for the gumbo to be thinner. Service was great. Will go there again. Very dirty. We had a very rude waitress and my wife's fish was undercooked. Fries were dry. Found a hair, they said they'd fix it. The new had a weird taste. I ate it because I was just ready to leave. Then I got food poisoning. I hate this place and will never go there again read more

We went tonight for our anniversary with family, not crowded at all. Waitress was very nice and very prompt with everything. But my red snapper and shrimp and so called grilled veggies were floating in oil. Everything tastes the same. Very disappointed. Salad was pretty plain. I would not go again or recommend. read more

My husband and I go about once a week. We LOVE their food! The staff is so nice and the seafood we've had is fantastic. We always get the calamari to start, great size portion and it's excellent. We order one house salad to split and then get our meals. My husband gets fried shrimp and I get fried oysters... Both are so good! We always get a large order of crawfish gumbo to go and then eat it for lunch the next day. Can't say enough great things about this place! read more

My husband and I had lunch here on 2/29/16 and I sincerely wish Jumbo Seafood would open a restaurant in Waco! We both had the fried oysters and crab cake lunch special, and enjoyed every savory bite. The oysters were cooked perfectly (not easy to do) and the crab cake had more crab than filling. Although we arrived at noon, there was still seating available, and the service was prompt. Our waitress was attentive and offered refills, asked if everything was good, and was there when we needed her and not when we didn't. She was great! We are looking forward to our next trip to Tyler--we will definitely stop at Jumbo Seafood for another delicious meal! (The fifth star is missing because we asked to be seated at a booth, not realizing the bottom third of the back has a funny pillow type bolster which isn't all that comfortable. Next time we'll ask for a table and Jumbo will get five stars!) read more

Good & Bad: Great popcorn shrimp and cocktail sauce was wonderful!! Unfortunately the facility was very unkept. The Gumbo (which was what I came for) was the worst I've had. First off, the map and directions on here are wrong. We drove around this intersection for a while after clicking on "Get Directions." It is about 8 miles heading in the other direction toward Tyler and the Loop 323. Place doesn't look like much but the food is good. I had the grilled shrimp and Cajun rice. Very tasty! Service was fine, though a little laid back. I had to ask for my Cole slaw side. Took awhile for the drinks, too. Overall, I liked it. Will go back. read more
