We typically go there at least once a week for the fried fish, shrimp and other things on the menu. We have never been disappointed with anything we have eaten there. Staff and waitresses are very friendly and professional. I've read some postings where people complain about it being loud inside. Well, sometimes it is, just because everyone is there having a good time and enjoying themselves and the food. So if you don't like having a good time this is not the place for you. Went to Salt Lickers for first time on Sunday. Waitress told us special wash fish and shrimp dish. Gave us the price. $2.00 off. We both ordered the dish. She asked us how we wanted our shrimp and gave us three options. Breaded and fried, boiled, or grilled. My wife chose grilled and I boiled. We got water to drink. Order came in paper boat and plate. Grilled shrimp was hard and small. Fish was hard and thin. There was a loud family seated near us with teenage children making all kinds of noise, talking about mucous and other gross things. Ruined our meal that was not that good. Then, the Coup de Gras was getting the bill. We were charged $3.00 extra per meal for the shrimp that come with meal and $.50 for the water. Really? When we questioned the waitress, she said, "well, it's in the menu." She offered choices on shrimp but never disclosed there would be extra charges. Never told us there would be a charge for water. My bill was $6.50 plus tax bigger than we were led to believe. When we questioned, there was no apology for any misunderstanding and no offer to adjust. She couldn't have cared less. If you live in Grand Saline, Edgewood or a Day Trip from Dallas this is a GREAT PLACE TO EAT. Food was very good, make that very, VERY GOOD. Deserts were Excellent. Visited the first time on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. Ordered burgers and fries. Waited 35 minutes for our food and it was served cold. The hamburger was returned and the kitchen took another 15 minutes to reheat the same burger. I was told there was a crawfish issue in the kitchen which caused the long delays and cold food. Tasty fresh lemonade, calamari, popcorn shrimp, and classic burger, this place did fine for us and had very reasonable prices. There's a lot (a lot!) of fried breading on the shrimp and calamari, but it's tasty. The large-cut fries were kind of mushy for my taste. The burger was excellent. Ordered the boudain burger with fries and tea. The burger was ok, but the fries were cold and out of a bag. Took forever to get our food. The windows were dirty. The waitresses did not act like they were too happy to be there. At least the water was filtered. With that said, if you want to have a few beers and listen to the locals chat, then I am guessing this place may be for you. As a Louisiana native, this was a horrible excuse of a restaurant. If you are going to be a hole in the wall restaurant then be a great one. They did not even know which ticket was ours. We will not come back to this place ever again. Went there to see a friend, Dave Wolf for his karaoke show. Awesome show for sure. My wife and I both had the catfish and fries. The food was awesome and cooked to perfection and out in less than fifteen minutes. I eat catfish often and I have to say this is probably the best I've had. And now as far as the service. Meagan was our waitress. Meagan was as nice as she could be always checking to make sure our drinks were always full. She has an awesome smile and makes you feel welcome as well as the rest of the staff. We live about an hour away and will try to make this our regular Wednesday night spot to go for karaoke(even though I run a show myself) and for the awesome food. We are from out of town and found this place on Yelp while passing through. Cajun food in a bar type setting. Picnic tables and Styrofoam cups and bowls... Not so good for the environment. I had the boiled shrimp and it was very good. It came with a small corn on the cob and small potatoes. I side ordered a coleslaw and it was good too. Hubby had fried gator tail which was a little over cooked as well as fries. He liked it. Service was a little slow but it was late night and they are super friendly. I'd give it a higher rating but they need more greens on the menu and get rid of the Styrofoam. read more

The flavor of the crawfish was great. We also had the boiled shrimp and some fried pickles all of which were very good. The service was friendly. The only complaints I had was that the potatoes, corn, and mushrooms were not cooked in the spice water and were bland with no flavor. When it's busy it's a bit confusing if your supposed to wait to be seated or just find a table when someone gets up. Paying our bill was difficult because the waitress doesn't give you a bill. You have to go to the bar and just tell them what you had and pay. The night I went it was busy and people were eating at the bar and I actually had to reach over people eating to pay.
