This is a hidden gem in the hills of Texas! It is a must visit if you are anywhere in the area. Junction Prime gives any well known prime steakhouse in any major city a run for their money. My husband and each had a steak cooked to perfection, a cocktail handcrafted with pride, drool worthy calamari, mac and cheese, and beets. Plus you have to make room for the double chocolate brownie no matter how full you are. The chef delivered everything to our table and everyone in the restaurant made sure we had amazing experience. They can improve everything especially the owners, cooks and the owners wife's attitude. The staff were rude including the bar tender and waitresses from the get go. Our table wasn't ready at 8 so we got a drink at the bar and he was irritated by our presence. We have been here many times and it is hit and miss but our last experience was amazing so this made or last experience even more hurtful especially since our feedback was not acknowledged, the owner fought with us and waitress never even offered to tell the managers or cook we were not happy with the most ridiculously expensive wagu steak or any of the entrees in general . I've had better steaks at Outback Steakhouse they are at least consistent. This time they get reviewed for arguing with a customer who just paid 1000 dollars for their birthday meal and they knew it was a birthday meal. The drink and appetizer are decent although expensive but the entrees all tasted like pepper and no salt. Actually they tasted identical because the black pepper was so powerful. We tried to salvage the meal with a sweet dessert but the chocolate cake smelled and tasted like mold and the grill peaches will surely have us sick tomorrow. Not to mention half the mussels we ordered never opened ....I'm scared but the host and owner were the worst, unaware,prideful and argumentative ... last straw we were the best of customers ....even live here full time. The chef lost the salt shaker top. It was so salty and horrible. Everything was way too salty. The waitress was worried about her tip. We tipped her well. Not her fault. No one came out to address the dissatisfaction on the salt issue. Ewe. $230.00 later. I will never be back. read more

The ambiance of this new restaurant is excellent for date night or celebrating. Service was quick and friendly. Our server was well trained and knowledgeable of both the menu and the restaurant. I'd always recommend a reservation, but don't think they're required. The food was superb but pricey, but my steak was cooked to perfection. Plan on dropping $250+/- for dinner for 2 (more if you drink alcohol). It's is very nice to finally have a quality high-end restaurant in our area. read more

We had such high hopes for this place, really looked forward to trying it. We went out for our 15 year anniversary, had a reservation. They sat us in the very back last table by the kitchen when the restaurant was empty. All we could hear was DMX blaring from the radio in the kitchen. I ordered the 8 oz filet, and it was so gamey, tasted like deer honestly. It was really disappointing especially when I got the bill and saw that the "market price" for just the steak alone was $85. The restaurant was beautiful inside and our server was great! Can't complain about her at all whatsoever, but as for the food taste and price, we definitely can't justify coming back :( read more

My wife and I have been longing for a good steakhouse in this area. Finally we got one. Great steaks, service, drinks, sides, etc. Highly recommend. Hope it makes it because we have had a problem with higher end restaurants making it with cost of labor etc. Badu closed some years ago and has not opened back up and since then there has been a void. Our drinks were exceptional. We sat at the bar as we did not have a reservation. Highly recommend making a reservation. The servers were on point and engaging. Saw where someone mentioned they were understaffed. I didn't see that at all. Call me pleasantly surprised. The quality of the steaks were awesome. My wife and I both had the 8 oz filets. read more

I went for my birthday with 5 others with a reservation at 8 to be told if we were late we would be placed on a wait list. Not a problem we understood and arrived on time and told our table would be about 20 min. Once seated we were told they had no bread, no potatoes or Brussel sprouts. The manger was very rude and we decided to pay for a couple appetizers and left. So disappointed in this restaurant and it was our very first visit. Probably will skip this restaurant going forward. How do you run out of items especially potatoes when you have reservations and know what your requirements would be for the evening? So sorry for this review but it just was a disappointing experience especially how the staff handled our concerns. read more

Zero stars so disappointed first time here and a birthday dinner they wouldn't let us bring a small cake in . They are outta bread . Outta potato's of any type . I am really impressed with the quality of the service and the food at this new restaurant. The menu has exciting offerings throughout: beverages, appetizers, salads, full plate entrees and steaks (with traditional steakhouse sides, as well as steakhouse add-ons like lump crab, scallops, shrimp etc.), made ordering a pleasant adventure. We ordered a tuna sashimi appetizer, a wedge salad and the house bread to start; the food was delicious and the portions were ample. We were so happy with the start to our meal that we went on to have a filet mignon and an aged NY strip steak accompanied by broccolini and truffle fries. The steaks were perfectly cooked to temperature with a nice crusty sear,(we ordered medium-rare on both), and the quality of the beef was very good. The sides were excellent as well. The broccolini was cooked/seasoned to perfection and the truffle fries were crispy and addicting. As for the service, the front of house manager/host was helpful and welcoming. The two bartenders , Jose and Adam, were great and they made our night, (we snuck is under the radar, no reservation, on a busy evening, and we ate at the bar). I think it's rare to have an experience this good at a new restaurant, especially in a small town. Kudos to the staff, as well as the concept at Junction Prime. Food was okay. Don't expect high quality. I was disappointed. Was hoping that this was going to be an upgrade for Kingsland's dining options. Overall review: - restaurant was very warm and did not cool down - lots of flies inside. Ended up with a fly in my wine glass. - large parties get to sit on large picnic benches. - food was okay, but not necessarily for the price. - steaks are not always cooked to your request. About half of our party received over cooked steaks. They didn't even ask you to cut into your steak and verify that it was acceptable. - cocktails were good, but again pricey. - wait staff was overwhelmed and struggled to keep up. - atmosphere was very loud. Definitely not a place for a romantic date. Overall, I would avoid until they make changes. It still has potential to be good. They need to make some big changes. I'll be surprised if they are around next June. read more

I really wanted to like this restaurant and have a place to take family and friends for a special dinner when they are visiting. I will have to keep searching. The hostess that greeted us was great. She was friendly and attentive. She was dressed very nicely. So I walked in and thought it was going to be a classy place, but it went downhill from there. The music playing was bad 80s music, weird vibe. A few people sitting at the bar and they had a softball game on the TV. Is this fine dining or a sports bar restaurant? I won't go into details about all the food. Steaks were decent and cooked as ordered. Could have had a better sear on the outside. I didn't care for the garlic placed on top of the steak. Starters and sides were overpriced and underwhelming. A few other reviewers mentioned saltiness - they definitely have a heavy hand with the salt. For dessert, we ordered some sort of cobbler that was supposed to come with a bourbon sauce. They brought this big corner piece of a bread type dessert with a little bit of fruit in it. It was so dry and hard to eat. We called the waiter over and asked where the bourbon sauce was and he said he would go check with the kitchen. He brought it out 5 minutes later, but at that point we were kinda done. Also - I had to pay $25 to make a reservation. There was no credit on the bill for this. I didn't think about it until I got home. But as another reviewer said, they have not been able to get that credited back after calling 3 times. Bottom line is that I had high expectations and was disappointed. At this price point, a diner expects more. read more

Very disappointed upon arrival as husband made reservation and upon prompt arrival we had to wait about 20 minutes for a table for 2. Server said they were out of tenderloins. It was 7:30; but located 2 when we explained this was a celebration. Food was outstanding. We may go again but it will be for special occasions only. Definitely out of our price range. We stopped in for a cocktail and had no idea what to expect. It was glowing with warmth like an upscale lounge. Dress accordingly. So that fits the bill for the cocktails too. High end style and ambiance, which is in line with the menu. Looking forward to going back for more than a special occasion, but it may be for cocktails and apps until I can justify the steak prices. Yikes! I'm sure it's in line with other fancy steak houses, but maybe we share instead of each having our own. That way we can have our cake and eat it too. read more

We went there Saturday night with a party of 8. I had looked at the menu online and was well aware of the pricing. I realized in advance we would be spending close to $100 per person with drinks, appetizer, entre and sides, plus tip. I totally understood the $75 reservation fee. None of that was our problem. We came in "appropriately attired" as requested on their web site (i.e. ladies had on dresses) and were brought to picnic tables with large bench seats. The awkwardness of trying to hike our 60+ year old legs wearing dresses over the benches was quite embarassing (nto to mention the fact that the benches have no backs to the seats). After asking a third time to be seated elsewhere we were moved to a high top in the bar, but told that we had to be done in an hour and a half because they had another reservation for the high top (someone smart enough to say they didn't want the picnic benches). My family and I really enjoy fine dining, and have eaten in many restaurants around the world. The seating at this restaurant really took me back. I felt like we were being led to the patio area at Rudy's Barbque (which I truly enjoy, but am dressed appropriately and pay a substantially different price). I cannot even comment on whether we enjoyed the food or not - because the struggle to get comfortable seating and the knowledge we needed to hurry to complete our food set the stage for the evening and we unfortunately didn't get past that. read more

I have been here several times and not crazy impressed each time and my last visit will most likely be my last. This area is lacking in fine dining so I really want to be happy here, but they tend to strike out. My steaks have always been just ok Not really what I expect from dry aging and at that price range, I personally expect a lot more.. My last NY was just too tough and was lacking in flavor. the mac and cheese was just Ok as well too runny for my taste profile. The tuna tar tar was on some crazy hard crackers or shells very disappointing. My wife ordered wilted spinach and it was $18.00 for about a cup of spinach, Thats crazy expensive for a side. This was a single serving mind you. my wedge salad was fresh but blue cheese was runny and had a really bad flavor. I didn't even finish it probably should have sent it back just get tired of making a scene sometimes. The bread is really good and drinks were ok. The place was very cold and drafty with just one door to outside makes for windy entrances from parking lot. The bar takes up 2/3rds of the place with very few nice tables. The truffle aioli was good but lacking in any truffle flavor, a good truffle butter would be better in my opinion. Our ticket was over 300 for 2 people so its easy to understand my critique. The service is really good. The bartenders are wonderful. This is a great steak place. I only wish they would not prepare their salads in advance as sometimes the lettuce is wilted. I came to Junction Prime on Saturday and had a fantastic experience sitting at the bar with my friend and being served by the bartenders Caitlin and Jack. We split a 3 piece bread appetizer, tuna tostadas, and for my entree I got the bronzed red fish and my friend got the new york strip with broccolini and a baked potato as a side. All the food was delicious. the bartenders looked very busy, constantly making cocktails but you could tell they made it a point to check up on everyone and to provide a thoroughly enjoyed experience. (I love sitting at the bar to get a flow of a place) I had a couple dirty martinis, and my friend had the smoking jacket cocktail first then the margarita. The cocktails were on par with our food, top notch. Pleasantly surprised and excited to have a nice restaurant in Kingsland! Almost forgot, the chef brought our food out to us as well. We ventured over to Hooper's and Annie and Jenny were ROCKSTARS and were very knowledgeable about the area. They fixed us up with a specialty drink from the bar.... First of all, the service was great from the moment we were met at the door to our service who was very knowledgeable in our menu questions And recommendations. We had 5 guests on a Saturday evening and our drinks and food came out perfect with little wait. Our table ordered grilled oysters and wedge salad. Not my first time with fine dining. We(4) ordered drinks and were told that our server would be taking a one time order for everything as it allowed for proper cooking time. I expressed that we were interested in a relaxed dinner and would order as we decided. I was then told we must order at one time so they could control time. As I was then told we were on the clock so as to not interfere with people with a later reservation. First time experiencing this as a rule and expressed to seated customers. Had a reservation for 6 people & restaurant was quite busy. We were there to celebrate a 70th birthday. Waiter took our drink orders but a couple of the drinks were not very good. Asked to have this corrected & it took the waiter a long time to bring new drinks. We ordered food & asked if it was possible to have the Cajun Pasta less spicy. Our waiter said they could do that so two of us ordered the pasta. When our food arrived, one of the pasta dishes was fine but the second pasta was VERY spicy and basically inedible. Again had to ask the waiter to correct. He said he would have it made less spicy. Since 5 of had food that would be getting cold, we started eating (4 steak dishes & one pasta. Everyone finished their food & the second pasta dish had still not arrived. We actually ended up splitting the first pasta so all of us would be able to eat something. We had to ask our waiter again about the second pasta. He finally brought it out long after everyone was finished!!! There was no apology for the lateness. The manager should have come over to our table and apologized!! They also should have comped the pasta dish that didn't arrive until after everyone had finished. There really no reason the dish couldn't have been made quickly so we all could eat together. The horrible service certainly ruined what was supposed to be a nice birthday celebration. I would recommend avoiding this restaurant unless you want to be treated badly. read more
