I was pleasantly surprised as I talked to the front counter ladies to get my drink figured out, as I was trying something new to me, and my first time here. I had it made, at my request and their cordial obligement, with just oat milk, fruit and they added the ice I think. It had the most beautiful flavor, sweet and fruity. It tasted like it had dairy in it.. even though it didn't. It was THAT good!! It had the most delightful little crystals in it that weren't like ice, they crunched like protein powder. It was the most beautiful feeling. Best smoothie I have ever had!! My barista's name was Ellery, she was very polite, warm and personable. We all had a good chat, and a good laugh. I love the small town vibe here. And the cute little inside, warmed up to me as I milled around and looked at things while they made my drink. They have, to the right of the front counter, a self service area with a pay station. So if the line's busy, and backed up, you can just get your own stuff, that is, if you don't need an espresso. Super cool!! It works on the honor system. Such trust!! Love it; the old school way of doing things in a business. They also have the most beautiful gluten free cardamom muffins they make in-house, and they're HUGE!! I didn't have one, as they do have dairy in them. Unfortunately they don't have any vegan options other than a gluten free, vegan bar, and something else I don't recall. A couple of morning cocktails also made an appearance, including Cottonwood's version of a Bloody Mary and a rum-infused mocha. The huevos rancheros had a bit more kick than expected, but it worked. Our server was fun and easy to chat with, which added to the relaxed feel of the morning. Nobody rushed us, and breakfast with friends is one of those things that shouldn't be rushed. Will we be back? Probably. Cottonwood Cafe feels like a place where locals and visitors can both feel at home, and it was a nice way to wrap up another great trip to Sisters. She even asked if we wanted to stay given how many items were unavailable. I had been looking forward to their amazing smash burger, but since they were out of buns, that wasn't an option. Instead, I ordered a parfait bowl with a side of potatoes, and my mother ordered the buttermilk pancakes. This situation is unfortunate not only for the customers, but also for the servers, who are left trying to provide good service despite having so many menu items unavailable. Sadly, this experience was disappointing enough that we won't be returning.

It has a great little coffee shop with bake goods they brought in from a local bakery. I found the book I wanted, an iced tea, and a cookie and I was all set.
