I was having trouble finding a place to get my son a haircut. Decided to walk in at June Bugs since a friend of mine had recommended it awhile back to me. We walked in and were immediately greeted and tended to. There was no wait. My son is usually difficult with haircuts he was crying but did not fidget as much as much. The barbers were all very understanding and were trying to distract my son from crying. Hector was super patient with my son and did a very good job. I went here thinking I was walking into a friendly and welcoming barber shop but I was greatly disappointed. apon walking in I got nasty looks from everyone and was not helped for about 20 minutes. just to be told I'll have to wait another 30! Once i finally got to a chair the guy who goes by "junebug" really didn't listen to my requests at all and was very silent for the whole trim. At the end i asked for a little more cut off and he denied me and said "they are too busy for that" in total if there was a zero star option I would choose it! read more

This place is not the place to go, younger brother asked for a taper fade and what he got was a military hair cut nothing but a short buzz on the side. And previous time he asked for a high skin fade and the barber replied "a what?" As if he didn't know what he was talking about.. also following the last hair cut the back wasn't lined up properly as it was a curvy sloppy line up. So over all was a poor haircut by this barber (no sure of the guys name) So he goes back the next day and confronted him and asked him to touch it up since he left it sloppy so he kindly said he will do it no charge (since he messed up from the jump) then right before he walks out charges him another 20$. We paid 40$ for a mediocre sloppy hair cut. Wouldn't recommend this barber shop if you want a nice clean fade don't care what the "good" comments say. But guess some people like sloppy work. My mom has been cutting hair her entire life and has a hair salon in Carlsbad. When I hit thirty, she thought it was time to refer me to a new barber, who could see me more regularly and keep my hair looking professional and sharp at the same time. I've been going here for the last two years and can't recommend this place enough. I've referred a few colleagues from my office and they are now regulars as well. I can't help but address some of these one star reviews I'm seeing on this page. Complete nonsense. This is the last place on earth anyway would be stereotyped. June Bug has tattoos from his fingers to the top of his head. If anyone would ever get stereotyped, at all, it would be him. I feel like Yelp sometimes brings out the worst in people. I needed a good dark caesar before a business trip and this place came through with flying colors. I was worried because it wasn't a "black" barber but I braved the uncharted waters..... Had a great experience with everyone at June Bug's until. I got the owner with all the tattoos. Idk man if he was havin a bad day but I just went back into the store after my hair cut to point out that he went to far up on my hair and started explaining why he couldn't do it the way I asked for which I've been coming here for years with no problems what so ever. He then proceeded to act nasty towards me with another costumer present. Trying to get his approval but I could tell he just didn't want any part of it. At one point He started saying crazy stuff like. I'll tell them you tried to rob me which Right after he told me to take your money back and then threw it in my face. After that, he was started explaining why wasn't making conversation with himduring the cut . Which to my surprise I thought I was. At some points i didn't talk back because he had a razor on my head. I kinda don't want to get cut. Sir common sense not to move 1. I never asked for the money back 2. I was coming back inside because I wanted to see if could at least get a discount on next hair cut. 3. lost a 3 year returning customer. To the owner probably reading this. I told you I wasn't going to Yelp but you really need to chill you were about to hit a customer over a hair cut they didn't like. You basically ran me out of your shop over nothing. I'm shocked a business owner can conduct business like that. Im more mad at the fact how this was played out. I couldn't give 2 shits about the haircut. To make a long story short, the barber was frustrated the entire time, he lacked patience, and he was cursing. I have been coming to this barber shop for years and here are suggestions on what could be improved: 1. Please continue to work on letting the customers know whose next and approximate wait times. The customers should not have to manage the queue. 2. I would like to see a better payment system. If someone doesn't bring cash there should be a way to pay the shop directly and not use some unknown ATM. *update 11/30/15* Many of the issues mentioned in a previous review have improved so I have deleted those concerns.
