The experiences that they offer for an additional fee are honestly the only thing worth going to here. The zoo itself is kind of meh. Cons: The zoo itself is extremely small and most of the animal enclosure stink worse than almost every other zoo I've even been to. There's a very small variety of animals and not very many exotic animals to looks at. The food options are very limited they had 2 small food stands with basics like popcorn, waters, frozen lemonade, burger, hot dog, Cesar salad, mozzarella sticks and wings. The only gluten free option I really saw was the salad. Pros: They offer a ton of experiences including big and little capybara, lemur, sloths, birds, bunnies, goats, and flamingos. All of them seem to provide excellent exposure to each of the animals. We saw a group in the lemurs that were surrounded by them and were feeding and petting them. Capybara experience: We did the capybara petting experience and you got to sit in the closure with the small capybaras and pet them for around 30minutes. There is a photographer that joins you so you can purchase professional pictures later. The guide shows you how each individual capybara like to be pet to make them the happiest and when they get super relaxed they roll over and show you their bellies .
Jungle Island was definitely lack luster. First off, we went while it was raining, their gift shop does not sell umbrellas or rain ponchos, so everyone was buying a beach towel to try to stay dry. The venue itself was pretty, it felt like a jungle which was cool. There wasnt a ton of animals so I felt like we got through everything super quick. They have tons of birds. But as far as actual animals it was minimal. I think this place could be more fun if the weather didn't suck but overall just felt like a low budget attempt of a zoo.
Jungle Island holds a lot of sentimental value for me. I have fond memories of visiting the original Parrot Jungle location with my dad as a child. Now that I have a son of my own, I was excited to share a piece of that experience with him. We've visited Jungle Island twice so far, and both times, my son had a blast. Our favorite part of the park so far is the kids' splash area. It's a perfect way to cool off and let the kids burn some energy, and it's what we plan to take advantage of the most this summer. Conveniently, the splash zone is located right near the food trucks, which offer some surprisingly good options, making it an ideal lunch spot while the kids play. That said, I do think the park feels a bit underwhelming unless there's a special event or themed night happening. The experience becomes much more enjoyable if you're willing to spend a little extra on animal encounters or the petting zoo as those activities really enhance the visit. I would love to see more interactive, kid-friendly experiences that don't come with a hefty price tag, as well as improvements to the animals' enclosures to make them more spacious and stimulating. A few small upgrades could go a long way in elevating the overall atmosphere. One highlight this summer was their "Buy One Day, Come Back All Year" offer, which we definitely took advantage of. It's perfect for families looking to stretch their summer fun. I truly hope to see some new additions or renovations in the near future, but for now, we're making the most of it and enjoying the moments we can create together.
Safety: NO Emergency EXIT signs. Broken seats. (See pic) Wait to get in. Upcharge for everything. Almost $400 for 3 people with two visits with lemur and wallaby. Limited veterans discount. Food line and Oasis is ridiculous 1+ hour. Oasis seating is insufficient. 3rd floor restaurant was closed at 2pm til 4 pm. Disappointed at Picture quality of the picturea taken when we came in. NOT WoRth it!! Lemurs were the only hit. They get a good review. The Wallabies were lazy and interacted very little.
Jungle Island had a Luminosa display during Christmas, and our family went. It was great. Beautiful illuminations, and an absolutely fabulous show with Chinese performers where children participated, and they had lots of fun. One of the performers did a Chinese Face-Changing routine that was amazing. A Christmas Village with costumed carolers and a mini Café inside was also located inside the venue.
Jungle Island was a pretty interesting place to visit in terms of how it's all operated, but I'm always a little sad to see animals in any form of captivity. I was on a tour planned by friends and I didn't know what it all was before going. I will say that the staff who were handling the animals did very much seem like animal lovers themselves and that they really cared about the animals they worked with. In a few spots there were staff members who would be introducing guests to a certain animal - we got to meet skunks, alpacas, snakes, penguins, parrots and more. There were also areas where animals were just living and you could see them from afar, like a heard of flamingos, a group of kangaroos, and emus walking around. They had a few stadium shows where they gave lectures and introductions to some animals (ones that weren't just out on the paths with a handler to meet). These were not "shows" like you'd see at SeaWorld or The Seaquarium. I appreciated that, as I definitely do not like seeing animals made to perform or anything like that. With those of its positive aspects, I still do consider this almost a "zoo" type establishment. They do seem to take okay care of the animals, but they should be in their own habitat and free. In terms of non-animal things you can do - you can also see some cool sights from/inside Jungle Island. There are views of the Miami skyline and the water of Biscayne Bay. On the property, you can see palm trees, waterfalls, and a few cool gigantic Banyan trees, just to name a few. I'd say this might be a little more "fun" for kids, if you bring them. Adults may like it too, and some may be a little sad seeing animals in captivity. You'll have to make up your mind on that and do research before you go to see if a visit here is for you.
I loved jungle island. Haven't been here since I was a kid. My son got honor roll and I decide to take the day for jungle island. Best idea ever. There was a inflable water park. We spent the whole day seeing different animals and shows. I would recommend to come and bring the kids. The burger was a little too pricey. Between the burger and one drink it was like 45 bucks.. honesty I could've gone out to eat somewhere else before and would've enjoyed it better.
This place was amazing. I was pleasantly surprised by what initially looked like a location on the port and in a garage. The grounds were beautiful, open air and well kept. I did the Super VIP. It truly was a once in a lifetime experience as an animal lover, it was a highlight of my trip. I dare say it rivaled Disney!! The Lemurs and Tortoises were my two favorite encounters. The tour I did and photo package were expensive but worth every penny!! The staff were cheerful and happy. The enclosures were maintained and clean. The animals were happy
TAKE NOTE!! I suffered so you wouldn't have to!! Disclaimer : I signed up for the thrill seeker trek. If you want your heart rate to be in the 100 and have fun, do it. In the thrill seeker there are 4 courses total: easy, medium, hard and WTH. The first two ones are lower and kinda prepare you for what to come. You are hooked the whole time so it's completely safe. Here are my suggestions 1- Do it EARLY . I did it at 12 and it was HOT, the line was hot, I was sweating like crazy, I finished my water before I made it to the 3rd course. 2- BRING GLOVES: I had long nails so I lost 3 of them and the cable was hot so I also hurt my hand and I did not stop yall. 3- Bring WATER . After every course you can drink some and will definitely need it. 4- If you are doing the thrill seeking, get ready to work your upper body. That is not a joke. The blue line is crazy and I was praying to make it out because I was drained after all 3 courses. 5- I honestly suggest gym outfits. I took my shirt off half way because I was sweating in pores I didn't know existed. *that was my very first time. I am not used to all that. Would I do it again??? YESSSS no second thoughts specially now I know what to expect. Would I come more prepared: DEFINITELY. Overall: get ready to have fun, do the explorer trek as starters if you don't know what you can handle. I don't know when to stop so please don't do the whole thing if you're not sure.

So had to come back during the day to enjoy jungle island. Really cool lots of different parrots and other animals. Can go zip lining here there is a really cool tree house play area for kids and kids at heart. And lots of different animal encounters. 15$ fee to park. read more

This was our first time visiting outside of doing HorrorlandMiami. I have to say I highly recommend this place especially if you had kids. I would of rate this a 5 star if there were more animals as a lot of them were not in their cages. Also the aerial walkway was a bit pricy. But we saw a lot! The place is well kept but a bit smelly around some of the cages. Lots of parrots and lots of them were loose which was cool. Perk: if you book in advance the admission is free!!! We are coming on Saturday with the kids! read more

Decided to see the Luminosa event they had going on at Jungle Island. At first it was confusing getting there. To our surprise, parking was free!! We went on a week day just as an FYI. I believe it was $25 per person. They have a bar, some food spots, a pop up with handmade art. I wish they had a little more to offer because it wasn't much to see. I guess that's why tickets aren't crazy high. There was plenty of parking tho and I didn't have to drive too far back home. Overall it was good to get out the house and see how beautiful some of the exhibits were. read more

Let me start off by saying this place is relatively small. If you want a full day activity, youre better off going somewhere else. This is a max 3 hour activity and an expensive one at that. The birds in cages made me sad, but what is even sadder are the birds NOT in cages. Let me explain: There are a ton of birds sitting in branches waiting to be seen, but are unattended by staff, which means they are exposed to people who dont read the DO NOT TOUCH sign. I witnessed mutliple toddlers/kids/ adults slapping the birds, pulling its tails, and bothering the poor birds. And, since the birds wings are cut, there is no where they can escape to. TRAGIC! The birds in cages are a sad sight too, with little to no food or water, and no space to fly or live. The few animals that they got ahold of (some monkeys, lemurs, sloths, etc.) were in similar cages and conditions. All of the animals looked depressed and rightly so. Some were even by themselves in cages, which makes you feel sad for the lonely creature who probably spends their whole lives by themselves. As for costs, we got in for free but the sign said 29.99 and there is no way anyone should be paying that price to come in and see this. This doesnt include parking, food, beverages, or the encounters that they promote so vastly. Poor animals dont have enough torture being in cages, they have to tolerate people getting handsy with them. There is one show in the whole park, which was no "out of this world" performance. There is a staff member that takes out a bunch of birds and aniamls in front of a crowd, talks about it for thirty minutes, and leaves! Yikes. Overall, its two starts because, like i said, i did not pay to come in here, it was completely free (except for the 15 dollar parking). The tree trekking looks okay, but i went to an awesome one in Orlando so my expectations are high. This place rlly isnt want it used to be when it was called "Parrot Jungle Island." Dont waste your money. read more

We had a wonderful afternoon at Parrot Jungle Island during the presentation of the mini Christmas circus. Although the abrupt escorting everyone from the facilities after the show disappointed us, the manager completely turned our experience around. His kindness in allowing us to remain after the show was exceptional and made a significant difference. We appreciate his generous gesture and the willingness of the staff to accommodate and make our visit memorable. The park itself is spectacular, with interesting attractions for both children and adults. We highly recommend Parrot Jungle Island as a charming destination for families. Thanks to the manager Jorge and his team for their exceptional hospitality! ESP: Experimentamos una tarde maravillosa en Parrot Jungle Island durante la presentación del mini circo navideño. Aunque el cierre abrupto después del show nos sorprendió y desilusionó pero la intervención del Sr. Jorge, el gerente, cambió completamente nuestra experiencia. Omg I had the time of my life here!!! Anyone can visit! You don't have to visit with children or someone else - you can go alone and still enjoy yourself. I really enjoyed my Sunday here. It was well worth the travel. The staff were super nice especially Alejandra and they even took pictures for me because I was a solo visitor. I love how the parrots are right in the open. My Jungle island experience is better than what I expected. I love that there's a lot of shade to wade off the heat. Initially I was down at the Fairchild botanical garden but left because it was very hot and decided to visit Jungle Island instead. I am so glad I did. I told my friends about it and will be returning. Jungle Island is a must-go for all ages. Put this place on your bucket list. Kudos to management and staff! Bravo! Job well done. read more

The nettance is very expensive, it doesnt include feeding animals or any animal encounters. It was still noce. What really bothered me. Was when i purchase a simple hotdog and fries for 14$ and a cesar salad with fried chicken that came in a samll plastic bowel more like a publix salad. That comes with a prepackage of kraft cesar sald for 17$ they charge you, a managment fee. Wich you have to pay. But on the reciept it showes as gratuity of 15%. Not only i got really expensive food and low quality. They are making me pay their employees? No one see es me in my table, or i picked up to take away. So why they are making me pay their employees? On too they had an a option to pay extra gratuity. Does the management pays the employees sick time? Health care? read more

We planned ahead and found free tickets online to get in. Definitely not worth the $30 so we're glad we secured free tickets. The place was smaller than I expected and there weren't too many animal exhibits. Most of the animals were sleeping or hiding under the shade because it was so hot out. Honestly, not the best place. I remember this place being so much bigger when I was younger and with so many more activities for kids to do. The entrance is cheaper than the parking. $11 for the entrance and $15 for the parking. I personally won't be going back here. To go in, they're extremely unorganized. There's one long line and everyone was asking if that was the entrance or a line for something else. There were barely any animals as well. I was in and out of the park within less than two hours. If you want to check it out, go for it. But I personally don't recommend. There were also a couple of birds that I noticed that seemed to be in distress, they were missing a couple of feathers. Made me pretty sad/mad. There was only one cool thing that we experienced and it was a parrot that said "hello" & "hi" when we went up to it. read more

0 stars if I could. If you love animals, don't come here. If you have slightly any heart - don't come here. We came only because it was a free activity to do with our toddler and I thought it was a sanctuary. Upon arrival, you see it's a place to just exploit these poor animals that don't deserve this life. The entire enterence area can fit all the cages in it with extra room. The cages for each animal were SO tiny it was depressing. They couldn't even be bothered to put greenery for them. The fact the place is covered in greenery itself just makes it seem like the animals are in a proper environment but they aren't. Thinking about them in there 24/7 is depressing. Some of the animals that had food just had a little cabbage thrown around. The parrots had pellets that were tipped over, parrots that are able and should have a diet of fruits + veggies - just weird looking pellets instead. The water bowls were all filthy if they had any at all. All the animals had was a rope in there if they were lucky. The animals themselves did not look happy. Beautiful animals put in a small wooden box, cage or glass. Imagine that. With no access to actual greenery and space to fly, roam and just simply live. They had a huge kids play area but god forbid they give some extra space to the animals that bring in all the money for them. Which absolutely doesn't go to the animals. Saw a woman vaping literally IN a parrots face, not even a foot away. No one was supervising the parrots they scattered around for decoration which makes me wonder how they trained them to just stay in place while people harass them all day. All the money they make and they don't even give the animals a fair place to live. This isn't a beautiful place. The only beautiful thing about it are the animals that don't deserve this cruelty in the first place. These places shouldn't be allowed to be open but humans are nasty greedy creatures. If it wasn't free I wouldn't go and even if they do have free days it's not worth it to go see these animals being exploited and mistreated. We used this as an opportunity to show our son how animals shouldn't be treated. They also have endangered birds here which is sad. read more

Parking is offered. They have a lot. (I rode Uber) $10 admission to walk around is worth it in my opinion. There are quite a few picture worthy moments. I had a few minutes to spare before heading to the airport. Coming here allowed me to spend about 45 minutes of that time enjoying myself looking at the different types of birds and all the other animals. They offer so many activities here. It was because of time, we didn't partake. I took a star away because construction really limited certain areas and movement for us. read more

What a wonderful day we had at Jungle Island! In all the years I have lived in South Florida, I've never been to Jungle Island/ Parrot Jungle. We came with the kids and a friend and we had a blast! I thought we would be there for 2 hours tops, but instead we spent 5.5 hours there! They had lots of birds we could see up close and the parrots were not in cages ! The kids saw a good amount of animals such as goats, birds, sloth, tortoises, snakes, skunk, porcupine, flamingos, koi fish, and monkeys. The kids really enjoyed the two wooden playgrounds. One of them is free and is a decent size for young ones. The tree village is $10 per child, and it's bigger with some wood suspension rope bridges. They loved it and played in both playground for a long time. They had the displays for Luminosa at this time of the year but we didn't see it lit because we went during the day. Since they are an actual display that lights up, we still got to enjoy it due to all vibrant colors. We had a wonderful time at Jungle island. I would return again for another visit soon! read more

Highly recommended for family fun and different species lovers. Visited on a not so hot Miami day and having such birds (parrots, macaws, etc) in open areas around the island was neat. Walked around the island and they had a lot to view and to do for kids and adults alike such as a adventure course and play area. They had a nice food truck that offered empanadas, ice cream, popcorn, corn dogs, sodas, water, and chips just to name a few things to drink and munch on. Although somewhat small if you take your time wondering around jungle island you'll enjoy the forested feeling. read more

I'm speechless! This (Jungle Island) was the most memorable, interactive, zoo like attraction in south Florida I've been too! So many gorgeous birds and animals! They gave a 50% discount for veterans which is so amazing, and they have reasonably good prices! You have to pay 15 dollars for parking, tho, just a heads up for anyone wondering! It's worth every penny. I will include some of the beautiful photos that I took here we bought food for the flamingos and feeding them was so interesting and fun! read more

We came for Luminosa. Parking was a doozy, ramp up and down to/from parking is steep and narrow. People do not know how to pull all the way up into the parking spot, seemingly due to faded parking lines. One car was half way into the lane, no joke. Another was no where near where the front bumper *should* go. No clear directions to entrance of event. Groups were following each other. Once inside, the whole event was okay. Ticket time said 2 hour, we walked the entire place twice within 1. One concession open with a decent selections of beverages (non alcohol and alcoholic) and food. read more
We visited Jungle Island on Christmas Eve for the Lemur experience. Our daughter grew up watching Zoboomafoo on PBS and this was our opportunity for a one on one hands on experience. Jungle Island is a beautiful facility. There are a few reviews expressing dislike that the animals are held in captivity. Each animal we saw appeared healthy and thriving. Most of the animals would not be able to survive on their own in the world of today. We witnessed the facility staff speak with and demonstrate true compassion for the well being of the animals under their care. Our visit was exceptionally pleasant in no small part because of our personal tour guide. Being Christmas Eve it would have been very easy for him to dial it in to just get the tour done. It was Christmas Eve after all and he likely wanted to be with his own family. Our guide was personable and knowledgeable about the animals under his care. He went the extra steps to make sure we had the fullest family experience. Thank you Jungle Island for helping to create a great Christmas memory for our family. read more
OK, I liked but did not love this place. It's not exactly a zoo, and not exactly a water park. Trying to be both doesn't quite work but it's reasonably well done for what it is. I was less less harsh because the tickets were FREE (the magic words, hehe) from Yelp Elite as part of the South Beach Wine and Food Festival. There was a terrific event held here called Goya Fun and Fit (Goya Foods, demonstrating Latin food goes way beyond rice and beans). Me gusta mucho y mil gracias Goya. First a couple of words on the event and then on the venue. Goya really rolled out the stops for their event. Me, my partner and our 70-year-old neighbor had a blast. There were various Food Network host types doing cooking demonstrations and a TON of food to eat 10-5. Park admission for Jungle Island was included. Hats off to the Goya folks for encouraging people (especially kids) to eat healthily. Now as for Jungle Island itself, I've driven past the entrance a million times on the causeway between Miami and Miami Beach. However, I'd never actually been inside. Basically a 3-star attraction but the free ticket earned them an extra star! It's surprisingly huge, with a variety of attractions and animals. It was disturbing that many of the enclosures seemed small, and the animals maybe less than perfectly cared for by the staff. I couldn't get away from the feeling that it was a glorified alligator farm somewhere outside Ocala. It sort of aspires to be a private zoo, but at the same time has a crass commercialism front and center. Walmart meets Lion Country Safari, or maybe the lovechild of the San Diego Zoo and Donald Trump. read more
As Banksy once said, the exit is through the gift shop (really!) I'm updating my review and keeping a 4, 4 plus stars. That overpriced, flat rate parking ($15!!) is keeping you guys away from a 5th star. There's technology that lets you keep track of time, and a lot of establishments do charge hourly for parking. Please consider that! #endrant With that out of the way, Roxy and I had a nice time when we went to the Luminosa Chinese Lantern show this last weekend. We got there right on time (well 98%) for the Chinese acrobat show and enjoyed it. The performers were really talented, and though we were analyzing the props and techniques (we're in the design industry, after all :) my favorite portions of the show were the balloon animals and one of the artists balancing the plates ever higher. As far as the light show itself, it is nicely spread out through the whole park. It's a visually pleasing 30 minutes, even stopping for Instaworthy shots. Some of the animal light displays are animated (i.e. they move) and I liked how they some of the light sculptures show off Miami scenery. The flowers look nice too. read more

This was such a cool place to visit! We got to see so many different animals they had there to offer. Also have a big kids jungle area to play and a younger jungle gym. They have parrots all around the place for you to look at and take pictures. They also have an up sale where you can do above ground climbing but we did not do that this visit. Definitely recommend this place if you want to check out some animals! read more

How long does it take to complete the Thrill Seeker Trek?
Are we allowed to bring our luggage with us through the exhibits? On vacation and will have our duffel bags with us

We have babies! Are we aloud to bring baby food and formula?
Yes, you can bring them. They don't check your belongings and won't stop you. Very accommodating staff.
Do they serve alcohol for regular day visitors in park?
I did not see any alcohol served, very few places to eat ice cream etc., very expensive too
Are u open? Is it fixed from hurricane yet?
It looked well maintained to me! No parts of the park seemed closed off either.
