My son and I recently visited Jungle Island for the capybara experience. Our guide was knowledgeable and professional. Hanging out and feeding the capybaras was an amazing experience for both us, highly recommend. Facilities were clean and the animals all looked healthy. It is a large place but not a tremendous amount of animals but the entire park is well shaded and you do feel like you're in a jungle. COVID hurt this place as it did so many tourist traps and so this place is under new mgmt and on their way back. That is why they are pushing the animal encounters to bring in revenue to reinvest back into the park. Entire staff is new and eager to help the animals and give guests a great experience. There are lots of add ons and they have photo ops they also try to sell. Just enjoy the animals and maybe do an encounter and you'll have fun. If you only go visit the park it's not that expensive and it's very nice. read more

This place is NOT worth it AT ALL. You're better off going honestly... ANYWHERE ELSE. They are super over priced. Include their own tips when they don't even give exceptional service. The jungle splash is DISGUSTING and super unsafe!!!! They make you sign a waiver so even if something did happen, you'd be out of luck. The slides have no one operating them so people can possibly fall on top of you and get seriously injured. The water is just nasty, like I can go on. It's an INFLATABLE I mean.... first of all one starts with $20.00 for parking. then after purchasing tickets online we still had to wait online to get bands and sign waivers. why did we buy tickets in advance. The only good thing about this place is the very kind employees. An adult ticket is already $30 with tax and if you want to interact with any of the animals the minimum it's going to be is $10. I went to feed the birds and paid my $10 just for them to hand me a miniscule popsicle stick with hot glued birdseed covering not even 1/4 of the stick. The concession stand sells food of horrendous quality at abominable prices. And there's not even that much to do, if you're an adult good luck because half of the place is just a play area for ages 12 and younger and there's only 2 shows. But hey, if you want to attempt something that looks fun you can spend $70 to do some underwhelming ziplining or walking on wooden plates suspended in the air for a few minutes. If you're an animal person your heart will break, only a few of the animals here have acceptable living conditions; most of the birds here are stressed beyond reason and lacking forms of enrichment you can see the sadness on their faces and a few were gnawing at the bars of their enclosure and honestly if they escape good for them. -1000000/10 would never come back here or recommend anyone to. If you're new or visiting Miami save yourself some money and treat yourself to a better experience in Zoo Miami. read more

This place had really gone down hill since it moved from Pinecrest. The gardens are ok and most of it is well shaded, but there's really nothing great about this place anymore. Unless you can get a free ticket for admission, save your $10. They no longer do the parrot photos and the actual number of animals here is about a dozen. They do have many parrots go look at if you like that. We spent an extra $10 each for child to go to the Tree Top Village, but needn't have bothered to pay. There was no one supervising the area so anyone could play there whether they paid or not. Overall I would give it no stars, but that wasn't an option. Also, word of warning, they up charge you for everything here. $5 for a cup of fish food, 18% gratuity added automatically at the snack bar for any order with no way to remove it because they only take credit cards. Park was small but cute didn't take long to walk through everything. Park opens at 9:30 but nothing in the park is open like food and the water park doesn't open until 11 which I wish I would have known because we were waiting around for everything to open. Also, watch out for added gratuity. Ordered a drink at the flamingo bar and didn't see anything about automatic gratuity so I ended up paying $25 for a drink. So the person got a $5 tip and I had to wait for about 5 minutes for the drink to be made because everyone was just standi bf around and I was the only customer there are the time. Then I went back to get a can of coke at the smaller middle stand and the guy that gave me the drink just automatically added his own tip and didn't give me the screen until after he did it. I wasn't going to argue so I let it slide but I don't think it's up to the employee to decide what they get for a tip. read more

I don't wanna be too harsh on jungle Island. It was nice. The staff was very friendly, but I do have a few disappointments. I was disappointed in the parrot bowl. There were two parrots there as you come in, but then soon after the girls started the show the parents were gone and they talked about three other animals which a little disappointing, a snake, a big gigantic animal that's family of the rodents. I forgot his name and a porcupine far from the para jungle I know I remember seeing parrots do tricks and riding the bike and doing high wire bring that back that's what we go to see and my second disappointment was where they keep the flamingos. I loved the flamingos where they lived years ago. They weren't open area in the sun with a nice clean pond And grass now they're in a gloomy dark, very shaded area no grass a dirty pond and they're walking on mud and it was very small for them. These are huge birds. They need a wide open range think about it. Whoever is in charge of that whole place. You guys are overcharging. Bring back what we went to see years ago parrots it's OK to have all the other animals, but just bring them back. Put the flamingos in a nice clean area bring back the parrot show with parrots and trust me you guys are going to be a hit. I would definitely recommend going there if you can fix those two areas and I'm gonna mention one more thing. Your zip line is very expensive for a short ride and the food is very expensive. We went for the Luminosa event (happening November 2023-February 2024), paid $38 + tax per person, and $15 for parking and we would say it was overpriced. The lights and sculptures themselves were beautiful and strategically placed, but everything else... Starting with food, we went to both of the food places they had to offer (I only snapped a picture of one menu). The food was overpriced, as usually is in events, but the quality was the issue. We grabbed the loaded nachos with cheese, and they were so incredibly stale. We gave the chicken wings a try that the second food truck had to offer and they were slightly better but nothing out of this world. There was two acrobatic shows in the theater, one at 7 pm and one at 9 pm. We saw the 9pm show and it was entertaining, but we couldn't help but notice how moldy the roof of the tent was. Definitely something to check up on. There definitely were a lot of families with children so if you're looking for something child-free, I would recommend going a little later in the night. Overall our experience was a 6/10, I probably wouldn't fully recommend as highly as I do other experiences. read more

This place is not worth visiting. I've seen a kiddie zoo with more exhibits and wildlife to see. My niece and nephew visiting from Chicago were bored. Once you get in, almost everything is alacarte and very expensive, $65 for a 20 minute encounter with an lemur for example. $12 to play in an unsupervised jungle jim. You could easily spend $200 per person for a couple of hours of ho-hum. There is only a single place to eat, expensive and they have the audacity to automatically tack on a %15 tip for it. The staff was either lazy, bored but more often surly. This place is a bad tourist trap and gives Miami a bad name. read more

I figured my 1.5 yr old daughter and I might enjoy this place based on local advertising. She is very mobile and curious about animals and nature. We saw some birds and a couple of monkeys, but mostly construction workers in cages. The birds and monkeys were very sleepy. The construction workers were very active amongst themselves and happy to tell us to move to another area. This is the worst park/attraction/zoo I have ever visited. It consists of a path with cages of mostly birds. Some cages apparently housed animals but were now empty or sheltered tiny animals (hopefully sleeping) in a box in the corner of the cage. This place is really depressing. Aside from the construction workers, we saw two other park employees. One was selling beverages and the other was blowing leaves. We spent less than an hour at Jungle Island and over an hour traveling to and from here. This is a definite thumbs down! read more

After several years, we returned to Jungle Island; open every day from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. As we entered the parking area, we soon realized parking is not included, but it's an extra $15 per vehicle. Notwithstanding, it was covered, clean, well lighted and just a few steps from the entrance. It also provides accessibility for wheelchairs and strollers, as the park is ADA-compliant. Should you need a sign language interpreter, you can call at least a week in advance of your visit to schedule one. Service animals are welcome, and they have manual and electric wheelchairs, as well as single and double strollers for rental. Conveniently, the park has mens, ladies and family restrooms strategically spread throughout, and they keep them clean. Once in, it looks pretty much like I remember it, gift shop and all--but then again--my memory is not like I remember it! On this occasion, my sister and I conspired to take our young teens away from their mobile devices for a family excursion! We purchased tickets online to Luminosa, a festival of lights. To make things even better, we dragged abuela/mami and my brother-in-law to join in on the fun!! Luminosa runs for a couple of months in the winter -- Wednesday thru Sunday after 5:00 PM -- I encourage you to go online and check out all of the other great events lined up. It was an unusually chilly night in South Florida, at least to this tropical girl, yet our hearts were lit with the beautiful glowing displays, the music, the bird shows and acrobatics; not to mention the fantastic food from the Island Burger Cafe, which I will review separately! We ate, drank and enjoyed the live music and the DJ at the Cafe too, while the girls ziplined and rock-climbed at Adventure Bay. If you're planning on taking the kids, make sure they wear sneakers, as open-toed shoes are not permitted in this area. This particular Sunday night was not very busy, so, walking around the trails was flowy. We had fun, so much so that I didn't even think about taking pictures--honestly! The only thing is that for me, as nice as this event was, it is a once in a lifetime thing, and being that the tickets are pricey, I probably won't do it again; but I will definitely consider going back to Jungle Island. read more

THIS IS THE SADDEST THING IVE EVER SEEN. Not only is the price rediculous, but they seriously are able to run a business like this? For starters the birds are kept in tiny ass cages where they spend their entire life, next to each other, so there's about 10 or more cages like this. Next are the kangaroo, who are kept also in a tiny ass space where they have barely anything in there. It's truly just depressing they looked so sad. Moving on is the largest turtle i've literally ever seen. It is in an enclosure the size of my living room...WITH ANOTHER TURTLE ...to spend his and hers entire life. I had tears in my eyes and thats when my friend and I had to walk out. I am ashamed I spent money at all going here, but im glad I saw this so I can warn people how WRONG this is. The animals are depressed and don't have nearly as much space as you would probably imagine the bare minimum should be. On top of that it was extremely desolate and seems like ownership really let it slide since I was a kid coming here. It's basically like a tropical prison. Oh also everything is a cash grab- parking, $20, no FL resident or student discounts, can't bring your own water, "upgrades" required for certain areas on TOP of the $30 ticket. Oh and zero preservation efforts or learning opportunities for kids which in my opinion is the only saving grace of zoos. Don't go here- go to Zoo Miami. read more

I had a blast at Jungle Island! Really long review ahead: I went to Jungle Island years ago- back when it was called "Parrot Jungle Island". On my most recent trip to Miami- I was looking for fun stuff to do before my cruise- and had fond memories of Jungle Island. I'm really glad I decided to go- because I've created many more fond memories! Now although I had a blast- I recognize that my experience might be more unique than others- and in addition, I still have some critiques. Let's get the negative out of the way so that I end this review on a high note. 1) Their park map needs a serious overhaul. I am a park map pro. Theme parks are my life and pride myself on being the navigator of our groups. But holy moly does Jungle Island's map send you in circles. The path to the kangaroo area is not clear- or even drawn for that matter. Other paths and distances drawn were just plain confusing. And on top of that- signage around the park was minimal at best. Make sure to ask for directions from park staff when you're unsure so you don't waste time. 2) The reptile house is so outdated, and I hope is in some renovation plans. That's it! Now on to the good! The amount of close encounters they offer is awesome. Parrots, kangaroos and goats are the ones included with your admission- lemurs, sloths, capybaras, and flamingos are an extra fee- and totally worth it in my opinion. The parrots you briefly meet for a photo at the entrance of the park, but the kangaroos and goats you can spend more time with. The goat area was average of any other petting zoo, but the kangaroo enclosure was a bit... sad. I hope the kangaroos have other areas they are taken to- because the encounter area was small- and to be honest the kangaroos themselves also looked kind of sad and over it. I don't blame them. I trust Jungle Island is giving them proper care. I just think that area needs some sprucing up- and include more info about what their life is like at Jungle Island. I attempted to attend the Wild Adventures show, but got there 15 minutes late- and the show ended the moment I stepped into the stadium! Mind you- because of the their challenging layout and horrible map- I wasted a lot of time walking around the stadium trying to figure out where the entrance was. It was so painful being able to hear the show- the ooos and ahhhs and not be able to get in. And the worst part is- I ran from across the other side of the park thinking I could at least make half the show. Even other people around us were surprised it only ran 15 minutes long. I did however make the Winged Wonders show which was AWESOME. Definitely not 15 minutes long. They brought out so many beautiful birds of all shapes and sizes. I learned so much, and was chosen as a volunteer for the show! The 3 girls who run that show are absolutely fabulous and are amazing at what they do. Major kudos to them for putting on a truly unique show! I can say I ice skated in Florida- thanks to Jungle Island! I believe it's a temporary event- but they offered ice skating- included with general admission which was pretty rad. The rink is a respectable size, though ice skating in shorts made me really nervous- so my time on the ice was short. Still had a ton of fun! I did the Lemur encounter and it ranks as one of the coolest things I've done in my life. I believe each time slot is a max of 8 people, and the experience is 10 minutes long. The time goes by fast- but the lemurs are all over you the entire time- literally! The trainer taught us a lot about them, but to be honest- I can't remember much because I was so enamored with the lemurs! A photographer also joins the group so that you can get some professional photos- but taking pictures with your own phone or device was totally fine. However very tricky with lemurs literally jumping all over you! I can't recommend this experience enough. I did go to the snack counter for fries and a soda, and I don't remember it being too expensive. The pricing felt average for a theme park/zoo. Also forgot to mention the Flamingo and Orangutan areas were fun to walk around and watch. Not every zoo has orangutans, so I was really excited to finally see some in person. The photography packages are expensive- but not unlike any other theme park/zoo hawking images. All in all- I had a really fun day. Jungle Island has a lot to offer- if you know what to expect. Though I do feel like their branding is a bit confusing right now. Is it a zoo? Is it an adventure park? Currently it's a mix of the two- but the zoo part is very lacking. I hope they take some cues from places like the Bronx Zoo- who is successfully doing both- where one doesn't feel more important than the other. I also want to add that every single trainer I came into contact with (which was a lot) showed immense love and respect for these animals. I really hope Jungle Island expands and does more to showcase the animals and trainers. read more

If i could I would give 0 stars ... This place looks so sad because of the way animals get treated there ... They live in horrible small cages, they're no free at all !!! Poor monkeys have too small cages to move or jump around freely. They looks so sad and lonely.... The parrots can't even fly , because of the size of their cages. Poor birds .... When i saw porcupine, he looks so depressed i wanted to cry , the room he was in was dirty and windows around, this animal can't even breath the fresh air and also his plate was full of spoiled fruits and veggies and full of insects on it. It's heartbreaking to see it... Also the giant tortoises and small tortoises were so unhappy. They live in the place where is no water, no any ponds , no green leaves around ...Just dirt , dirt, dirt and nothing else ... Also i notice the birds and animals were pretty hungry, they were following the worker and looking for food all the time. Unfortunately, all those cages were unclean and weren't taking care properly. After visiting this place i felt so sad and sorry for those beautiful animals... Really sad.... This animals are suffering of the conditions they live in.... They didn't make this choice, the people made a choice for them. I don't even want to talk about the prices of the entrance and parking lot which ones were so unreasonable expensive for this sad place.... We will not coming back to this place anymore. Hopefully one day all those animals and birds would live better place they deserve to live ... and live freely... read more

I came for the luminosa event and its hard to fully judge the park on just the night time activities- but so far i thought they were great. The lights throughout the park are pretty to look at. Although, all the girls were taking selfies so that took away a little from enjoying the actual exhibits but what can you do ‍. The chinese acrobat show was so fun! It was entertaining to watch and lasted about 25 mins. Aside from that, you only really need about 1.5 hrs in the park (at night, because the animals are sleeping). Would be interesting to see what its like during the day. They have bars, food trucks, and playground/rock climbing/activities for the kids (most at an additional charge). They also have an escape room! Although that is extra too, and with the many escape rooms in Miami, you may as well go to a real escape room and save the time in the park for the exhibits that are included. One star off because it may be too small in size for the price. read more

Had a wonderful time at the Luminosa Chinese lantern festival event, which runs from October 5- January. While the price was a bit expensive online, Groupon had a fantastic deal. The park was over the top with lights and lanterns-- exactly as promised. Admission was fairly easy and the park was navigable. There was live music, entertainment, and shows still going on when we went at 7-9 pm. If you are going for the lantern festival, I would highly suggest you wait until sunset at least so that you can see the lights in full display. My one complaint was the the fee for the overflow parking was fairly hidden. There was poor communication about the shuttle from the lot to the actual park-- the parking assistants had no idea what was going on so we just walked. As we were leaving they charged us $10 which I'm still not sure was a scam or not since there were no signs saying that parking was charged. Besides this, had a great time! If you're afraid of sad animals in cages, don't be! This place really lets them roam free. I don't like zoos because the cages make me sad, but this place isn't like that. It's a little bit magical. The birds fly free and the reptiles crawl all around. Only the monkeys are in enclosures. Even when I went here as a cynical teen, the atmosphere took me in. I got to hold a lemur and it melted my 17 year old heart. I don't understand why this place doesn't have better reviews. I understand the price thing, but there's Groupon and the discounts and free admission for service members and first responders. The park photos, while amazing, are also overpriced. The Miami Vice flamingos live here. Still. So you know the animals well taken care of. None of the animals were captured from the wild. They're rescued due to injury or dependance on humans, or born here. The shows are amazing. The trained animals seem very chill (the pig decided not to perform) but the birds are incredible. It's cool to see how social some creatures are and get to interact with them. Even though the pig didn't want to sit, they still threw a party for it and gave it a (pig food) cake because it was its birthday. They gave the audience (human food) cake to celebrate. To illustrate how nicely these animals live: it was raining during a show and the trainers held umbrellas over the animals while they stood in the rain. I wish I had a picture! read more

Those emblematic birds going to the moon and roller skating are gone.. you can see some snakes in a "show" ran by two very bored, unenthusiastic boring guys ... maybe if you book ahead you can feed lettuce to a couple of animals . I tried asking but the photographer was not helpful at all.. don't get thirsty here ... no water fountains in this summer unless you can pay $5 for water.. and by the way if you want to use the air park and zip line ... that's a lodes $45 more... Visited Jungle island last year in May. It's small but nice for the little ones. It was hot and there was LOTS of bird droppings which stinked bad. This review is for the Luminosa Festival of Lights, which begins at 5pm. The traditional Jungle Island is a separate ticket and takes place in the daytime. I attended this in late November on a perfect cool weather evening with 3 friends. We bought our tickets on the Jungle Island website for a 10% savings and applied the Brightline discount which saved us another 10% (20% total) Gates open for Luminosa at 5, it's not dark yet but it's clear from the start it's a beautiful display. Clearly it's perfect for Instagram because it's really pretty everywhere you look. There's a bird show at 5:30 which we all enjoyed ( seriously unexpected types of birds, this isn't just a parrot show ) We opted to let the crowd get a head start and as a result the walk thru the grounds was peaceful, beautiful, and fairly romantic. It's an elaborate display, huge and well done apparently by a Chinese company who does this all over the world. I kept thinking How long did it take to set this up? (We all were thinking it) It's possible to buy alcoholic drinks (pricy but the pour was solid) and there's a champagne garden which was really pretty. Food is available in the kids area and it's decent but super expensive. I would suggest a pass on that and eat before or after unless you are really in need of a bite. (Pizza was small but not bad) Parking is $15, right by the entrance We all thought it was a great evening, well worth the money. This was absolutely amazing! Coming from Alaska I knew it would be hot, but jungle island had a lot of shade that was nice. We did the wallaby encounter, which was so much fun and they are so soft! We also paid $10 to feed flamingos and that was 100% worth it, it's a decent size cup and they eat 1 at a time. I would do this again in a heart beat! read more

This Miami attraction has deteriorated. This used to be a great place to bring the kids. Entrance fee to walk the garden only is 24.95 per person - animal encounters are an add on; in comparison Fairchild is approximately the same price and offers so much more and is aesthetically so much better. But, the worst part of Jungle Island is that the animal enclosures are in terrible shape, dirty and it looks like the animals themselves are neglected; the poor flamingos were in an area with squalid water - it stunk; no one was monitoring the guests to make sure that the animals were not being harmed. Kids were feeding the goats leaves and garbage they picked up off the floor. The poor kangaroos looked miserable. The animal show left a lot to be desired. The city needs to shut this attraction down and re-home these animals. read more

Wonderful experiences amount the animals! What makes this place nice are the shows that they offered. We got the chance to touch multiples birds, snakes and kangaroos. You can also pet the sloth and owl. Wonderful experience. The bird show is just impressive and they have a huge amount of bird. You can't see them if you are just walking around. Vautours, ostrich, parrots, ... and so much more. The other show they offer are with penguins, snacks, pigs, kangourou, sloth... just amazing. They also had lights coming up at around 4:30pm which made the place looks really nice. We were lucky to not have too many people and not having issues to see. Worse place ever for an event. Getting out of the place is a nightmare! One lane to get out over 200 cars. We have been in the parking for 30 minutes and still have plenty of cars ahead of me. Ridiculous!!! read more

Awful experience ever spent $30 to be there for literally 30 minutes if that . I see that all your employees had special fans to keep them cool but you don't invest any money for the animals that live there. You need to invest in mist fans or something they had dirty water hence the kangaroo picture. The habitats were awful if you want to encage these animals provide them with a happy environment. Waste of money everything overprice sad animals don't waste your time. The poor porcupine was panting because he was so overheated. No staff members to get any help for him invest in your animals.
