Whenever we plan work events, I usually take lead. For this particular outing, our entire team was looking to hold a celebration for achieving a major milestone. The biggest question then became, where to go? We needed a place that was relatively easy to get to that would hold close to 100 people. Jungly was a contender for several reasons - it's location, size, vibe, and menu all seemed to check off. It also helped that I had done business with the owner previously at one of his other spots. It seemed like the natural choice, so I went ahead with the booking. Jungly is located in LIC - it's a pretty convenient spot as its close to the LIRR and the subway. Parking can be a challenge, but luckily I found a spot only a block away. The space itself is nicely set up - walking in you're immediately greeted by the bar area with dining areas both to the left and the right. Due to our size, they closed the place to the public and we were able to freely roam the bar area and one of the dining rooms. In addition to standard tables, they have some lounge space and high tops by the bar. The vibe is somewhat modern - a black/grey color scheme paired with neon and golds. It looks like the space could easily be converted to a club-like atmosphere. Since we were here for a private event, the food was set up buffet style - we chose three apps, four mains, and two sides. Ultimately, for apps we chose pita bread with dips, steak tacos, and shrimp tacos. For mains we chose fried chicken sliders, smashed beef sliders, cacio e pepe, and roasted chicken. For sides, we got fries and Brussels sprouts. In general, all of the food was tasty; the strongest dishes were the tacos, fries, and the chicken tacos. The tacos were generously filled, the fries were the crispy skin style, and the chicken sliders were nice and crispy. The weakest for me was the cacio e pepe - not much flavor and just not really a standout IMO. My communication with management to set up the event were a little staccato, though in the end everything worked out. For the most part, my communication with them was consistent in the days leading up to the event. Service the night of the event was overall good - they were very accessible but I found that they could have replenished the food a little faster in response to the rate it was being taken from the buffet. The bar, on the other hand, was great - both in service and variety of liquor available. Overall, we had a great event at Jungly. They were professional, fair, and delivered on the goods. Went there yesterday for brunch and it was pretty empty. Joined my friends at the table and it took us awhile before the waiter came to check on us. It was crazy that they only had 1 waiter to handle everything, they should've at least had 2. We placed our orders and he was pleasant and apologized for being slow. The music was good, it wasn't loud, we were able to have conversations and not yell; it's a pretty place. 4.5 stars. Though there are a variety of concerns addressed in other reviews, my own experience this past weekend was a positive one. I'd recommend trying their more fusion-forward menu items, and at times to expect flavors and textures different from the traditional American/Western interpretations. Dropped by with a friend on a Friday evening around 9:30pm looking for a snack. We'd just come from an art event close by and most other restaurants start closing up between 9-10pm around this area. Jungly was one of the few that stayed open later (until 1am) and served not only bar food, but more substantial items too. Being the sister restaurant to Queen's Bully in Forest Hills, the menu at Jungly serves up American/Western dishes with international influences.* We ordered: - Truffle Herby Fries $12: these fries were YUMMM. I saw pics of them online in Gmaps reviews and knew I had to get some iteration of these. Perfectly crispy on the outside. Fresh oregano, dried thyme added a fragrant touch, and lightly truffley, which I was good with since truffle can be an overpowering flavor. Plenty of Parmesan sprinkled on top. Maybe a smidgeon salty, but overall would really recommend. They also have their house Jungly Fries available which are topped with shallots, scallions, fried garlic, ginger, red chili crunch, chives and served with soy garlic ketchup--if my friend had been more adventurous I would've tried this. - Jungly Wings $15: 6 pieces, you choose the sauce out of the following options: buffalo / szechuan / bbq / lemon pepper / jerk / tikka masala / thai spice / old bay. I chose tikka masala and they did not disappoint. Saucy, spicy (not in a burning way, in a well-flavored spice mixture way). Would certainly order these again. Came with a few celery and carrot sticks and what I think was a ranch or yogurt sauce. Staff was attentive but not too much so, brought menus and water pretty quickly once we sat down, brought extra plates and wet wipes for the wings. Checked in on us once during the meal. Not to miss describing the space--it was huge inside, probably enough seating for close to 150+ people if you count the bar area, the main seating room and the side room to the right of the bar when you first walk in. Most of the seating was at tables or booths for 4, and they can definitely accommodate larger parties. On Friday at 9:30pm they were playing a big boxing fight night on the multiple tv screens in the bar and main dining rooms. Lights were dimmed and warm colored, a mix of reggae and early 2000's hip hop played over the speakers. If anything the music was a bit too loud, we had to talk loudly across our small table to hear each other. As a note of constructive critique I agree with another review in that having a more defined style and cuisine theme may give some diners a better reason to come. The menu seems to reflect scattered genres which is fine, but not all dishes come off as following a fusion of international flavors. Without adding flavor nuances to make these dishes stand out from other restaurants that focus on those original profiles, it becomes hard for a customer to find a reason to come here over another American, Italian, burger, etc joint. All that being said, I look forward to returning and trying some of their mains and other items. *I'm a fan of Queen's Bully and their fusion of flavors--they do it relatively well compared to some other casual restaurants. read more

I went here during wing night ($1 on Wednesdays). They have essentially three seating areas: a lounge, a dining area and a more informal area. We chose the informal area and it was well lit with the surrounding windows and large TVs. I wasn't a fan of the loud rap playlist but you can't make everyone happy. I have to say, their fries are amazing, really amazing. I took advantage of the wing special and I have to say I was disappointed in the hotness of the seasoning. I do like spicy so I got what I thought was the second and third spiciest option, or what I thought they were. The Jerky and sweet chili did not have any kick to it. I tried the Buffalo (the middle of their hotness meter) and that was way hotter than my order. So they may want to recreate that meter. But it was good and I enjoyed them. The ambiance was nice, but that's where the positives ended. Service was mediocre at best--our waiter did the bare minimum and wasn't very attentive. I was with a group of seven, and after three people ordered steaks, we were suddenly told there were only two left. That set the tone for the meal. One person ordered their steak medium well, and when it came out undercooked, the server took it back. Unfortunately, it returned with the outside burnt and the inside still very pink--not at all what was requested. I ordered the chicken and waffles, and it was a complete letdown. The chicken had no flavor, and the waffle was soggy. The only thing that stood out in a good way was the Szechuan sauce, but a sauce alone can't save a meal. As a fan of Queens Bully, I was excited to try their sister location. The decor at this restaurant/lounge is beautiful. My friends and I decided to visit on St. Patrick's Day after seeing their promotions on Instagram, expecting a lively atmosphere. However, upon arrival, we found it fairly empty with only a few tables occupied. Surprisingly, there was no DJ despite the promotion of their bottomless brunch. A DJ could have added to the experience and drawn more patrons. Despite the lack of crowd, our waiter took 10 minutes to take our drink orders. When the food arrived, everything including our appetizers came out at once. The menu options for brunch were limited and on the pricey side. The bottomless deal, priced at $56 per person, seemed steep considering the offerings. I opted for the fried chicken with eggs Benedict, which was decent but insipid. A touch of spice would have elevated the dish. My friend's blueberry pancakes looked really good, though. I will say, everything looked great but tasted a bit average. I had a very disappointing experience here. To start, I made a reservation but was left standing for about 20-30 minutes before anyone greeted or seated me -- and that was only after I asked for help. For context , if there was a line this is understandable but I was literally the only person waiting. I had planned an intimate night with my girlfriend and even called the day before to arrange something special. I spoke with, I believe, the owner, who was friendly and open to the idea of me getting flowers delivered before . What I didn't appreciate, however, was the complete lack of communication about a Comic Con after-party happening that night, which took over the entire space. While I understand the importance of events and bringing in business, a simple heads-up would have gone a long way. We would have gladly chosen another night if we had known -- it felt misleading and inconsiderate. As for the food, we ordered truffle fries, fried calamari, wings, and salmon. The wings and fries were decent (about a 6.5/10), but the calamari and salmon tasted low-quality and clearly frozen. To make things worse, we had to deal with flies landing on our food, which completely ruined the experience. The only positive note was our server, Jorge, who was friendly, attentive, and seemed to be doing his best despite being the only one managing the front of house. Overall, poor communication, lack of organization, and low-quality food made for a very disappointing night. The vibe is a mix of island, and the music reminded me of Hawaii with several Pacific reggae artists playing. It's always strange passing by here and seeing it empty! I think it's probably also because it's a huge space, so they have a ton of seating. The decor is really pretty, and when it gets a certain time, the restaurant dims the lights and puts on mood lighting with a red tint lol. My friend and I came here for Taco Tuesday- we each got tacos and a frozen marg. The margs were really good, and the tacos were a good price, considering there's a ton of protein. I ordered the shrimp and the pork belly. The pork belly was very fatty, but it did have a lot of pork in it! Both tacos had a really good mix of textures, so I enjoyed. I came to Jungly with a large group on a Saturday night and we were seated right away next to the DJ. We loved the music playing and the DJ and staff asked us several times if the temperature was comfortable inside, which we appreciated. The interior looks upscale and we enjoyed taking photos inside. He's excellent and am sure you'll love the service he provides. We really enjoyed coming here for brunch and the waiting staff was very attentive despite how busy it was becoming. I was very excited to welcome Jungly into the neighborhood, so much so that I visited the first week. The ambiance is fun and sexy, they offer live music, the staff is super nice but during my first visit I was a bit underwhelmed by the food and drinks. I was hesitant to write a review and decided to chalk it up to it being opening week so I decided I would come back and last night I returned. They changed up most of the menu and I am not sure if this is particular to Tuesday but they were offering all night happy hour! To drink I had a spicy passionfruit marg on the rocks and a frozen mango marg both were very good! In my previous visit I had the brick and basil cocktail which was lacking in flavor but these margs reinvigorated my faith in Jungly's bar staff. To eat we shared the truffle fries which were pretty delicious as far as fries go with a hint of truffle that was on the lighter side but still very present without feeling overwhelming. For my entrée I had a generous side salad which was mostly made of arugula, cherry tomatoes, and some light vinaigrette along with the garlic parmesan grilled cauliflower wings. Both were good and I really liked that the cauliflower wings were grilled and not fried in some thick batter which celebrated the flavor of the vegetable with a healthier preparation. Since we went towards the end of the night and were having such a great time we lost track of time and missed out on dessert this time. Last time we had the lava cake which along with the rest of the meal was underwhelming but they reminded us several times they have a NEW CHEF and I can definitely taste the difference. This is a cool new-ish place and I've been twice. Once was just for a drink with co-workers (although I had a piece of the delicious flatbread too) and then for brunch. It's a cool looking space and a pretty cool vibe overall. Overall I like this place and the food was pretty good but they need to get the service to be a bit more consistent. When I went for brunch, they were out of the chicken sandwich. That happens so not a big deal but then when someone asked for the steak on the steak and eggs to be medium, he was told it can only be medium rare. That seemed weird. After some discussion and a trip to the kitchen it was confirmed medium was okay. We ordered a flatbread (pinsa) to start and then each of us ordered an entree. The food took awhile to come out even though there were only two other tables in the restaurant when we ordered. Finally our entrees came out and only after all of that was delivered did our flatbread appear. It was delicious but there's room for improvement in the timing of the food. Overall, everyone liked their food and the service was friendly enough so I think these are just some growing pains and I'll definitely go back. So I came here on my birthday Friday night with reservations and we were seated promptly after. I will say that that the ambiance and service were great, but other than that everything else seem to fall flat. We got a little bit of everything from appetizers and dessert and I can strongly only recommend the lava cake and Buffalo wings. My beef bourguignon had some sort of "noodle" on the top, and it threw me off completely. I can say the beef was cooked properly but the sauce and everything else was just something I wasn't a fan of, so I don't recommend this. We ordered drinks as well and I thought they were mixed well. Jungly is the new kid on the block in LIC. A cool lounge with some cool cocktails. I've been curious about this spot from the moment they started renovating. They finally opened, and I took a couple of my friends to check it out! Staff were super friendly, seated us right away. The decor was amazing, the owner put a lot of thought in every detail of this place. My friends and I decided to stick to cocktails and we ended up getting the Zobo, Melon mist, jungly juice and the lotus. I came here for brunch at 2pm on a Saturday. The place was empty which seemed odd but I remained hopeful. My friends wanted to order the bottomless mimosas/bellinis for $40 as it was advertised on their website. We were told by the server that they no longer had that option available and the only other option was that the whole table order from the prefix menu which included the bottomless drinks. This was odd and we noted that their own website had this option so they should honor it and the only response we got was "sorry thats not available, the website isn't updated." Since not everybody at the table was drinking we asked if some people would be able to order from the prefix menu and the others from the regular brunch menu. The server let us know that this was okay and we placed our orders. We got the pancakes with a side of scrambled eggs, the breakfast burrito, and the jungly burger. The food had little to no flavor. The basic ingredients like salt and pepper were missing from the burger, scrambled eggs, and breakfast burrito. The pancakes were simply inedible. They were flat and completely white and seemed undercooked. They tasted like rubber and were not even sweet. We asked the server why the pancakes tasted that way and he said it's made from regular flour and not "pancake flour." I'm not entirely sure what this means but it was extremely disappointing. Lastly, my friends who ordered the bottomless drinks were waiting for the server to come around with another round of drink since there is a time limit for the bottomless drinks (90 minutes). There was no staff to be found anywhere and only the handful of patrons that were dining in the restaurant. I found this quite bizarre that there was not a single server/manager/host on the floor. I was walking around trying to flag somebody down since the time for our bottomless drinks was running out and there was nobody around to serve them. Finally our server came to the table with large glasses of the mimosas and Bellinis for the table (I suppose he sensed that we weren't too thrilled) Overall, I didn't feel like there was anything at all that was worth coming back for at Jungly. I came here during Women's International Day and sure glad I did! They were offering ladies buy one, get one drink free and for the guys happy hour prices. What a deal! I tried both the High Tea and the Beach Better Have My Money for drinks. I preferred the Beach Better Have My Money, it would be perfect for the summer! For food I enjoyed the bao buns. They were super flavorful. My bf enjoyed the roast chicken which came with mashed potatoes. I also tried their lemon pepper wings and bbq. I preferred their lemon pepper. I came here for the Wednesday wings happy hour, and I left VERY satisfied. The drinks are good, and they caught up to me faster than expected. The wings are tasty and the ambience is really great inside the restaurant. It was pretty empty when we came, which is very surprising, given it was HH. Our server was quick to get us our orders, and for the price, they're unbeatable. I got buffalo and lemon pepper, but they had plenty of flavors, like jerk, as well. One of the things that I'll note is that the wings weren't crispy, or even really breaded, so if that's what you're searching for, this might not be the spot for you. We also ordered one of the secret drinks from the bartender, which I highly suggest you go try. I won't spill the beans on the secret drink on Yelp, but you should be able to ask the bartenders. The place even smells like a luxury hotel lobby. To top it off, they have a superb cocktail menu and a cute kids menu as well. I regret not going sooner and will be going back next week. We had the truffle fries (better than the ones at yankee stadium!), salad was on point, the Jungly burger was huge and packed with flavor. I had the lemon pepper wings which were pretty good & I tried the fig & goat cheese flat bread, pretty good but it was also very sweet. Lastly I had the Rasta pasta. I requested to make it more spicy but it was very mild, very little spice. That was okay. Great place to go on a date or catch up with friends. I went to Jungly about a month ago (Feb 23) for trivia night. After my team ended up winning first place we went to claim our gift certificate. The first red flag was when the manager confirmed "$50 gift certificate, correct?". The trivia host explicitly said that first place prize was a $75 gift certificate so we corrected the manager. I provided my email address so he could send my gift certificate. After a week and no gift certificate I called and was told that they'd get back to me the following week. After no communication, I realized that they were giving me the runaround and never intended to award my prize. I contacted the NYC Trivia League and was told that others have had issues in receiving their prize from Jungly as well. Never ever go to this bar for any reason! If they're unwilling to award a measly $75 gift certificate for trivia what other dishonesty are they capable of?! read more

I had an awful experience to be honest. I brought my best friend and 8 others here for my best friends birthday after watching tik toks on the place. The service was absolutely terrible given the fact that we were the ONLY table. We get to ordering our drinks and the birthday girl hated her mocktail. They return it, cool. We order two steaks and by the time we get to ordering the third, the waiter says they don't have anymore. Weird flex, but okay. 1 out of the only 2 steaks in the restaurant comes back medium when asked for medium well. Bet. They throw it back on the grill only to burn the outside and still have it undercooked on the outside. Fine, Jungly, I'll eat around it. But no one at the table liked their food. This is the spot to be in LIC, great for Happy Hours or just a work meetup. It's very spacious and great ambiance. I heard their house cocktails were really good , so we tried a few. Food seemed a bit average but the drinks really made up for the place. Service was amazing , super fast. read more

I live pretty close to Jungly and had been meaning to try it for a while. I went a few days ago with three friends. The space is large, with a lot of brass accents on chairs, and plush seating. There is also a bar area in the front near the hostess stand. Service was prompt and polite. My friends and I tried several dishes, none of which were standouts. The chicken wings were okay, but did not come with any sort of dipping sauce, which was atypical. The truffle fries were standard -- not bad. I also tried the margherita pinsa, which I did not like at all -- the sauce was really sweet and sour, and there was scant cheese. I also tried the chocolate lava cake, which was pretty mediocre and was definitely not made in house. I didn't have a drink, but a couple of my friends did. They said the drinks were fine, not amazing, not terrible. They did also note that it was the best part of the meal. Overall, my meal at Jungly was disappointing. The service was good, but the food left something to be desired. I'm not sure if I would be willing to return at this point. read more

I wish the new owners all the luck for success. It would be a shame to see such a beautiful place go bust. But as it is now, there's a lot of issues, which other reviewers have noted, that needed to be worked out, and fast! First, though the place was basically empty, it still took them a good twenty minutes to come around to get our drinks orders. After that, it took another twenty minutes before we got our drinks. Remember, this place was almost entirely empty. Second, many things were not available even though they are on the menu. For example, the biryani were not available for dine in, only take out. Also many drinks like beers were not available. So we ordered what they have available. Halfway through the dinner, the manager (I think) came over and apologized that the biryani were not available for dine in, only for take out. So I said to place a goat biryani for take out so after dinner we can take it home to eat tomorrow. Ok. When dinner was finished and the bill came, the order for the goat biryani was not placed. So there's a lot of issues to work out before I will ever consider returning. read more

Service was great! Drinks were strong. Food hit the spot. Overall very cute place for a brunch! However it did get a little too loud from a kids birthday party inside on the other side of the restaurant, I didn't know they hosted toddler birthdays but other than that all good! read more
