The worst brunch experience I have had in my entire life. I cannot stress that enough. I came here for my friends graduation about two weeks ago for brunch and I was appalled. Aside from having a small brunch menu, the food itself was pretty awful. My friend ordered the huevos rancheros and she is approximately 8 months pregnant. They brought the eggs out over easy (waitress didn't ask her preference when taking the order) so she asked them to please make them overhard since she cannot consume raw eggs (we thought it was a given). They took it back but literally brought it back the exact same way...ultimately she had to ask them to just give scrambled eggs and the obliged with a hint of annoyance. My other friend got her scrambled eggs, and they came out wet...yup...wet. It seemed they werent done cooking? So those went untouched. I (and 2 others) played it safe and ordered the pancakes with bacon and eggs...or so I thought. The bacon was turkey bacon, which was actually good but, they did not even state it was not regular bacon when taking the orders. My scrambled eggs were flavorless but at least they were cooked. However, pancakes were absolutely horrible! Dry and flavorless but the most disturbing part of this? The Syrup. I swear it was expired!!! (photos below) I HAVE NEVER SEEN SYRUP LIKE THIS EVER. It was absolutely disgusting. I heard good things about this place for dinner but brunch was SO bad I don't know if I would come back. The worst part? The best Mexican spot in Queens. Understated but elegant decor. Consistently high quality and delicious food served by an amazing staff led by Paula, Manuela, Lady and Evelyn. For starters we like the Mexican Oysters, Queso Fundido, Ceviche Mixte and Grilled Calamari. For mains we always get the Chicken Quesadilla and a mix of tacos, usually fish, octopus or your choice of meats. The surprise dish is the Grilled Branzino. Perfect with the mash potatoes! This was our second time here. The drinks are very good. The whiskey business presentation was just so cute, check out the video. To start we had some guacamole and chips. Very delicious, excellent and fresh chips, they are actually warm.. For dinner this time we had enchiladas which were delicious. The rice ratio was a bit small but it did not matter cause we're all trying to be carb free, right? Not pictured was chicken tacos, very vey good. The chicken was so tasty, moist and very tender. Came with a friend after church for a little lunch and girl time. The menue runs from reasonable priced items to a little pricey. The environment is very cute some good photo oops. It wasn't very loud in there. The server was pretty attentive. My formes had a margarita it was too strong for her but for others it would probably be just right. The portion sizes are decent if you eat like 1-2 servings if you are a big eater then it may be a little small. The food was flavor full and good. I would try them again. Review of Otra Casita My wife and I decided to try Otra Casita because we're big fans of La Casita and assumed this sister location would offer a similar experience. Unfortunately, it didn't quite meet our expectations. From the start, it was clear the restaurant was understaffed for the number of customers dining in. It took quite a while for anyone to acknowledge our table, and we weren't even offered water while we waited. When we did place our order, we received our two Coca-Colas fairly quickly--but they tasted off, more like an off-brand cola than the real thing. The syrup-to-carbonation ratio seemed way off. Appetizers arrived after about 15 minutes, which wasn't too bad. We tend to eat slowly, so we didn't mind the pace too much at that point. However, it took another 20 minutes after we finished the appetizers for our main dishes to arrive. The food itself was a bit of a mixed bag. My steak quesadillas tasted as good as they do at La Casita--no complaints there. My wife, on the other hand, ordered the carne asada plate and found it bland, with very little seasoning or flavor. The most disturbing part of the evening happened mid-meal, when a millipede fell from the ceiling onto my shoulder. I brushed it off, and it started crawling up the wall. When I told our server we wanted to move tables because of the bug, he seemed confused and didn't recognize what a millipede was. We moved anyway, but the incident definitely ruined the rest of the meal for me. To top it off, getting a simple glass of water took far too long--and when it finally came, it had no ice and didn't do much to balance out the overly sweet soda we'd been served earlier. All in all, this visit was disappointing. While I won't be returning to this location, I'll definitely continue dining at La Casita, where the service, food, and overall atmosphere have always been much better. read more

I've passed this place a million times and today I finally ventured in. What a hidden treasure! We stopped in for a quick drink and hands down the best michelada I've ever had. We followed up with a Pepino Diablo which was also very good. The ambiance is super chill and layed back. The establishment is super clean, which I always notice and the hostess Leti was a doll. I've been here several times, and have enjoyed great food. Yesterday I went and ordered this tostada platter for brunch. It was barely warm. I sent it back. They brought it back, and I just couldn't eat it. Tostadas are supposed to be crunchy, but these were soaked in bean sauce, and a yellow sauce (to the right of the egg) that I had no idea what it was. They took off the garnish and the avocado, and re-heated it. I thought for sure they'd make it again, and put the beans in a separate dish so as not to wet the tostadas. They didn't. I was so disgusted I couldn't eat it. They didn't even try to make it better by offering something else. Just got an "I'm sorry" - No one came over to ask me a thing. Between the lack or effort when the restaurant was empty and the lack of customer service, I won't be going back. read more

But this time it was barely lukewarm. The food came out before the drinks, even though we just ordered a Jarritos and a lemonade. The burrito was nothing special and barely had any flavor. Not worth the $15. On top of that, every table got chips and salsa except for us. If you don't like loud restaurants, this is not the place to go as the diners need to scream to hear each other over the blender making mixed drinks all night. Not a good date night spot. read more
