I was shocked being I paid that price when I purchased it 20 years prior. He said, very few people work with silver jewelry, and it would take several weeks. I certainly was not going to have him repair it. I've had gold items repaired for much less. I was in Stratford and saw MJs, I figured I would get a price on the repair. They were very friendly and accommodating. I expected that I would have been given an estimate that was equivalent to the prior jeweler (I assumed he was being HONEST with me). They took one look at the bracelet and said it would cost $35 and they would only need two days. The repair was pretty extensive; the clasp and the link were worn and needed to be seemed and rebuilt structurally. That price brought a huge smile to my face. I was so happy there are some honest people still out there, that was so reassuring, (Obviously. I was pretty upset with the prior Jewler, he simply was stealing my money). The repair was amazing and showed a high level of skill and craftsmanship. It literally looked brand new. Obviously, don't waste your time and money with any other jewelers. These are the prime examples of bad faith in bargaining: 1. "Well the ring is a style that only a few people would want-I can't buy something like this -I'd have a hard time selling it. I have to I melt it down. I can pay you for the metal. " 2. After that statement, then these types say , I'm sorry, that's the best I can do ". He told me this when I had a ring with 9 (0.2 carat) good quality diamonds in the setting. And NO mention of the worth of the diamonds. 2. WALK OUT. Go get some other prices! When I did, he wanted me to "come back!". Don't trust him! These weren't accent stones- you don't remember, I remember clearly our interaction. This was a custom piece that was heavy gold and a large cluster of diamonds measuring 7/8 in. By 3/4 inches . It was not a cookie cutter mass produced ring. I stand by my statement.
