Allow me to present the single worst meal I have ever had. How food can be so well presented, with great service, be so flavorless I simply cannot imagine. Let me begin with the home made pasta with peas. Had this not had Parmesan cheese it would have been huge mistake. Instead it was the better of the three items I ordered. The lamb, well cooked and beautifully prepared, TOTALLY flavorless. Seriously beautiful and seriously flawed. Then there were the fresh porcini mushrooms. They were again flavorless and mushy. I could have had better from canned mushrooms Green Giant. On a positive note, good wine list and great service. Just stay away from the food. read more

This was a disaster. We heard great reviews about this place, and were vastly disappointed with our meals. Service was very slow, and when the meals came out, they were cold, chicken/waffles/broccoli was burnt crispy, presentation and taste were below mediocre. We may have just had a randomly bad experience, but will not be coming back. read more

We had a fantastic experience at Juniper! We didn't have reservations, but were seated at a great table on the patio with a beautiful view. Started with grilled octopus and beet salad, which were both excellent. Main courses were bison and pork chop, both cooked perfectly and were delicious, and portions were very big! Juniper has consistently met our standards for good food. The menu combinations are interesting and work well together. They offer a variety of fish, beef, and chicken/duck that make choosing one difficult. The staff is knowledgeable about the menu items and service is very attentive. If anything, the prices are a little high. We think Juniper is the best restaurant in the valley. read more

Food was ok. However, don't order the drink with muddled blueberry. It was not and it was it was gross and syrup like. We alerted waitress and asked for a glass of wine instead. She then tells us no comps and the owner would be over to talk to us. It was insulting because I never asked for a comp only another glass of wine. We just finished dinner at Juniper and were so disappointed. It came recommended by our hotel's concierge, yet we know from experience there are much better restaurants in the area. We ordered a filet and a manhattan steak. Both were prepared completely wrong. The filet was literally raw and cold inside and the manhattan steak was well done (I ordered it medium rare). The waitress told us that they usually undercook their meat, but even she was appalled at how raw the filet was ( it was ordered medium). She told us she was going to send the owner (Doug) over to our table, but then told us that Doug couldn't be bothered as he was busy. I very rarely complain about a meal, but the flippant attitude of the owner got to me. The fact that he couldn't even come over and apologize for our meals and offer to get them cooked right is a shame and bad for business. I will never go back or recommend this restaurant to any of my coworkers or friends. Don't waste your money here, go to Vin 48! read more

Was in town for some skiing at Vail and thought to visit Juniper for dinner to change things up from the usual village haunts. The restaurant is an easy drive west of Vail and located in a cute little shopping district in Edwards. The ambiance was hopping and everyone seemed in good spirits. Appetizers were pretty good bit the bread was a little hard, as though it had been sitting out too long. Entrees, on the other hand, left a little to be desired. My lamb was too fatty and undercooked. Candidly, despite 'being' in Colorado, I have better cuts of lamb from Costco. Worse, the meat was so oversalted that I could only make it through half the portion. Dessert was actually very good and fresh (peach crepes) and recommended. Service was fair: the waiter was very friendly but a little scatterbrained and slow. All in all, it was disappointing,and for the price, I'm not likely to return just for average. read more

My boyfriend, two friends of ours and I went to Juniper for my birthday. Loved the feel of the restaurant. Casual yet upscale. We started out with some signature cocktails which were amazing. We are all foodies so we sampled several different appetizers. The duck confit pizza was both unusual and tasty. Definately not something any of us would have normally gotten, but we all were pleasantly surprised by how good it was. The rest of dinner was amazing. I had the salmon which was probably the best I've ever had at a restaurant. My boyfriend got the pork chop. This was a HUGE plate. Looking around the room, we could see that this was not your "norm" as far as a fine dining restaurant. The portions were on the hefty side which is nice when you're paying $25+ per entree. We had lots of leftovers which were great the next day. We decided on the dessert sampler which was amazing. This was the 2nd time I'd eaten at Juniper and this blew my first experience out of the water. Fine dining without being pretentious. read more

What a wonderful evening I had with my sisters at Juniper! We had an 8:00 reservation & arrived about 20 minutes early. We happily waited at the bar to have a cocktail & decided to stay there. The bartender was attentive, funny and prompt with everything. We started with the burrata, creamy & melt-in-your mouth yummy atop some field greens with a grilled peach, prosciutto and aged balsamic, superb! The crispy, light calamari was a nice portion piled on baby arugula drizzled lightly with a sauce and fresh herbs. The Caesar salad was tasty but a bit bland. I like to taste the anchovy a bit more and the Parmesan crisp was overpowering to incorporate into each bite. The last dish we had was the fresh tuna tartar. I loved the perfect blend of xvoo, s&p with a hint of a citrus mixed into the tuna and mounded in the center of the dish. Fresh guacamole with crisp wontons accented the perimeter of the plate to add a tasty compliment. We had a Pinot noir that was delicious but I don't remember the vintner. I'm vacationing in Avon and would highly recommend this restaurant. The prices are high but totally worth it. I loved the professionalism amongst the staff and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. read more

Consistently great for a few years now. Always a filling, flavorful meal served by professionals. You don't have strain too hard to see why Juniper stays as busy as it does in a Valley that revolves restaurants. Latest meal... *Inventive cocktail menu. I went with the Fred and Ginger...just the right amount of sweet and strong, interpret as you will. *Apps looked great, but we skipped to save room for the main course. The cheese plate has always been a crowd pleaser in years past. We did get sides of mac 'n cheese (being fatties on vacation and all) as apps, and it was kinda underwhelming. Oh well. *Filet...goddamn it was good. Nicely seasoned and so tender that you just have to look at it and it slices itself. A nice cut of meat that you should truly savor. Potato au gratin was buttery and fun to drag through the juice. Bone marrow ain't my thing, but I guess it's considered a delicacy. Spianch...psshh, I'm on vacation, bro, nice try. *Did not see dad's ribeye...was gone in, like, 2 minutes. Good sign. *Dessert has to be the sticky toffee pudding. It's legendary in these parts. Sweet and gooey with a hint of rum. I want to branch out on the dessert menu but I just always go back to it. *Service was friendly and always around yet not hovering. It was also prompt. We love to eat at Juniper. We come here to ski from the Bay Area, and have become "regulars" after a few visits to this restaurant. The food is always perfect. Literally, I have never been here, but that everything is prepared with class, served beautifully, and is delicious. I find the menu varies each time, and the specials are always something new. The main course is accompanied by remarkable vegetables, pasta or potatoes, and everything feels as fresh as it can be. Doug, the owner, is so pleasant, interested and interesting. Nothing pretentious or snooty about him--last time we ate a Juniper we talked about snowshoing with his dog. We always sit in the back of the restaurant by the creek, and winter or summer it is lovely and intimate. My one gripe? The waitstaff. Shane is a gem, and we have been fortunate to have him wait on us all but once, when he was off for the night. In his place, we had weird, surly waiters--they reminded me of aging college students who were itching to get high. They were, to a person, impatient, unpleasant and unhelpful. No smiles, no conversation, no inquiry after our comfort. Just--here's your food. Don't bug me. Uh, no. Not at those prices. Doug will figure it out, though. In the meantime, call ahead and make sure you get Shane to wait on you--he is wonderful. read more

Myself, my wife and alot of the people we spend time with are definitely "foodies." With that said, Juniper was one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. Our group ordered duck, 2 filets and I had the ribeye. Everything was deliciously marinaded, seasoned and cooked to perfection and the service was bar none. Not to mention, we walked in when the restaurant was very crowded (on a Saturday night), had no reservation and were still seated next to the window with a view of the raging Eagle River. I've been wanting to try this restaurant for over year now. They get fantastic reviews and now I know why. They are truly that good. The ambience, the servers, and the food are all top-notch! We had an ahi tuna appetizer rapped in cucumber that was a real crowdpleaser at our table. We also try the calamari which was prepared with their special twist. Refreshing to see a chef do something different with this popular appetizer. Fantastic pay off! The wine selection was extensive and fairly priced considering. I ordered the steak which I was a little apprehensive about being from Texas where we get the best of the best. They did not disappoint. It was the ribeye and I ordered it slightly charred medium rare. It was cooked to perfection and everyone at the table was dying for an extra bite! If that was not impressive enough I left my telephone on the table I received a phone call from Doug later that night letting me know that he found it and had it charging in his office and I could come by and pick it up anytime that night or in the morning. If you are into overpriced food even with a 50% discount than has zero flavor this is the hole for you! The manager says they cook their steaks over fire, so when your steak comes out completely black/burnt to a crisp don't bother telling him because "it's a hot grill" If your lucky he won't treat you like dog poo on his shoe. Also don't bother with the server because her response to my food was "I told you not to order the duck", which is confusing because she said everything was good. We went here tonight for the 50% off entrees (off season). I've been dying to try this restaurant but couldn't afford it until now, but wow will I be back! The staff was super friendly and our server was amazing. You get nervous sometimes at these nice restaurants that you'll be treated in a condescending manner, but not here. Our server was very down to earth and had some great suggestions for us. I started with a blueberry martini which was strong but delicious. It's hard to find a balance between a good valued drink and it being too boozy. This was delicious. I then got the ribeye steak with potatoes and asparagus. Amazing! Steak was cooked perfectly and it was a good serving size, which I appreciate. Again, sometimes at fancier restaurants you pay a lot for a little but not here. We finished up with the sticky toffee pudding which was the perfect comfort dish to finish the night! I'll definitely be back. Great food and great service. read more

We used to eat here a lot. However, the last time we went to this restaurant they placed us at a terrible table, the server was less than friendly and slow, the food was mediocre. When asked if we had enjoyed our food I explained why we were less than thrilled and they didn't show any indication of concern. So many other places to choose from. read more
