So I thought it important to hear a review from a local resident who frequents this establishment regularly. I consider myself a professional diner...meaning I am out 3-4 nights a week, and Northside Kitchen is my most favorite restaurant in the Vail Valley. I usually dine at the bar where either Connor or Brandon are not only offering service with a smile, but are also welcoming everyone who walks through the door! Their custom cocktails are awesome, but I go for their insanely extensive wine by the glass menu!! Caymus, Silver Oak, Duckhorn, Quilt, and about 40 other high end wines are all offered by the glass at Northside! Both 6oz and 9oz pours are available. The dining staff, are professional, pressed, and knowledgeable about wine, food, and professional fine dining service levels. The dining room offers beautiful white linen covered in butchers paper, with the perfect level of lighting to see both the menu and the guests you are dining with. The dining room and porch are modern and clean. The menu items, created by Chef Noah Bender, are delicious! Hand cut steaks and Prime Rib are favs, but don't be afraid to try their pappardelle Bolognese or the fantastic fresh "sea to table" black cod or trout! It's dynamite! You will find the service in the dining room attentive yet not overwhelming. Northside Kitchen to me is one of the most underrated fine dining restaurants in the Vail Valley!! Dude! (And Dudette). This place was great! Popped in last week for an amazing donut and was psyched to find a great donut shop right off of I-70. Then yesterday we dropped by for happy hour to grab a quick bite and had another great experience. Conner(?) behind the bar took great care of us and gave off that "I love my job and will make all the people around me happier" vibe. He was great. We had some green chili Mac-n-cheese both with and without short rib and they were amazing. I think I liked the addition of the short rib slightly better though. They have great wine selection by the glass and fair prices. I give them a double thumbs up and will be back soon. read more

Prices were crazy high compared to portion size. To top it off, bought a donut on the way and the lady at the register thought it was a good idea to put it face down into the paper bag. We've enjoyed The Northside Kitchen for years, but recently it has been going downhill. The take-and-bake food is still good and a great deal. Some items on the menu are still solid, but other dishes have definitely declined. I understand that it likely has a high turnover, and when new cooks come into the kitchen, the consistency just isn't the same. That's unfortunate. The donuts, which used to be the best anywhere, don't taste anything like they used to. I'm not sure if it was just an off day, or if they have changed the recipe, but I only had two bites of the old fashioned and didn't bother finishing the rest. My husband's birthday breakfast--a $16 breakfast sandwich--was also very disappointing. It came without the sausage or the hollandaise sauce. The sausage was brought out later, no hollandaise sauce, with blame placed on the new cook by the lady, running the show and behind the bar. It was essentially just one scrambled egg sandwich with cheddar cheese. It was tiny tiny, and he only ate about a quarter of it. So, we are now having a second breakfast at home. Even more disappointing than the food was the woman running things, behind the bar. We didn't catch her name, but she was unbelievably dismissive and rude, which really soured the experience. Came here to grab some breakfast before heading back to Denver after a long ski trip and holy moly! The portions here are huge!!! I had the basic breakfast plate and it was delicious. The service was pretty quick and there was plenty of parking. However the stand out for this place was the pastries. I was super excited to try to cronuts here and it was absolutely amazing!!! Everything was great! Prime rib, mashed potatoes with broccoli cheese. The only complaint I had was the dessert. I ordered tiramisu due to the waiters recommendation. Someone else that has been here before recommended the bread pudding that they make with the leftover donuts. We should have gotten that.. Not to toot my own horn but I am Italian and I make about everything. I make tiramisu. This was definitely previously frozen. When we bit into it, it was all wet like water. I think it was defrosting or had just been defrosted. It was terrible. It had no flavor but watery. I mentioned it to the waiter and he didn't say anything. I would have returned it. We spent the weekend in Avon before I started a new job. Before we headed home on our last day, we stopped for a hearty breakfast. And boy was it hearty! My partner and I both ordered the smothered burrito, because that's a go-to for us to compare to other restaurants. This ranks up there. The portion was very generous. So much so, even I took home the leftovers for a second meal. That rarely happens with me! The green chili was the topping which sealed the deal for me. We went here the day after Christmas 2024. I think it has either gone downhill or it was an off day. Apparently Northside Kitchen is rebranding to Northside Prime. The interior has been updated and now has dark wood slats and a lot of wine for sale. Our service was good. All of our food came out together (party of 8) and we had water and drinks. The food is where I feel they missed the mark. I ordered the lamb chops and they were probably the worst I've had to the highest price I've paid. They were not even close to warm, and the farro or whatever grain they were on was much warmer. They were cooked right, but seem to have cooled down to room temperature. Nother person in our party mentioned pretty much the same. At $67 per plate for lamb chops, I think that's unacceptable. I also tried the trout and it tasted farmed, which it might be. The salmon was good and it sounds like the halibut special was the winner. The deviled eggs md French onion soup were good too. I'll still come back here as the food in the past has been great. It was jammed the other day, so maybe they need to just get their feet under themselves again. read more

We were greated by the hostess and she started making weird small talk saying how they have an Asian woman on staff and that she's a real hard worker, my gf is Asian btw, so it was awkward, anyway, skip to food part. I got the trout which was decent but not very flavorful, so I probably wouldn't get it again. We came here for their Winter Wine Tasting Series on a Thursday afternoon and had the best time! The host from the winery gave a lot of good history and information about the producers and the wines. There were 6 tastings that were a decent pour size (and a bonus refill at the end), and all of the wines were pretty good. With each tasting, they served a small dish, and it wasn't like some blah cheese and crackers. Each dish was unique and delicious. Seriously, so good. So even though we didn't have dinner here, the food we tasted was a good indicator of what to expect. We'll definitely return next time we're in town. We've also eaten at the sister restaurant, Fattoria, which is fantastic. They also provided a sheet with information about the wine production and tasting notes and another sheet with the tastings listed in order along with the food that was paired, along with price information for each of the wines. After the tasting was done, we chatted with the owner for a while, who was so friendly and fun. We also purchased a couple of bottles from the restaurant's wine cellar, which were very well priced. Really cool place. The vibe is one that makes me want to come for breakfast and stay through dinner. It's a very well decorated space with incredible breakfast and lunch options. We went for breakfast and loved our selections. I had the Yokel with a homemade English muffin and in-house pork patties. YUMM! My wife loved her blueberry pancakes. We couldn't resist sharing a glazed cinnamon fritter that had been calling our named since it greeted us from the display case at the entrance. Our server Aline was very pleasant. This is an old and LONG OVERDUE review! Who doesn't love a great local restaurant and solid happy hour? If you don't, you're not living life. We went to Northside Kitchen based on a recommendation from my sister and brother in law. Lindsey was at the bar, and that's where we knew we went to the right place. From the moment we sat down, we were greeted with great smiles, great service, and some great drinks (beer and wine). It looked like she knew her regulars well, including my sister and brother in law. We ordered our food, and everything came out quickly, and it was all very tasty and fairly portioned. From what I remember, we had shrimp grits, short rib tacos, mac & cheese, and burgers. It was all very tasty, especially the burger - I make a pretty great burger at home, so my expectations are quite high when it comes to a restaurant burger. As a bonus, we also had some donuts packed up which we enjoyed later that night and the next morning. Great touch! If we lived out there, this would definitely be a regular spot for us. Disappointing service ruined what could have been a great experience This restaurant has potential, but the customer service -- specifically from the hostess, Adrian -- was extremely disappointing. Before arriving, we called ahead to ask if it was okay to come early and were told it was fine. When we arrived, Adrian told us we couldn't be seated until 5:00, which was completely fine, so we took seats at the bar to wait. Shortly after, Adrian approached us and said we could not order at the bar and would need to wait to be seated because they didn't want us to have two separate tabs. We were then made to wait without being offered happy hour specials or any hospitality whatsoever. After being seated and having a good dinner Adrian came over and very rudely made complaints about our children being "too loud," which was confusing and frustrating. Our kids were quietly watching iPads and were noticeably calmer than many other patrons in what is already a loud restaurant. Despite this, the situation was escalated to the point where Adrian claimed the owner had an issue with us and had requested that she speak to us -- which felt unnecessary and frankly ridiculous. If the owner truly had concerns, we would have welcomed a direct conversation. Instead, we were made to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. We specifically asked to speak with him. She told us that he had unfortunately just left.. if you are the owner and reading this, we welcome outreach and a discussion. Unfortunately, due to this experience, we will not be returning -- nor will we visit the sister restaurant. A real shame, because the food and atmosphere could be great, but serious improvement is needed in customer service and guest communication. read more

Don't be surprised by the humble outside appearance or by the ordinary menus on Yelp reviews. This really is fine dining. The salad and French onion soup were very good and the prime rib was incredible. Mario was so gracious and friendly and the manager even checked to make sure everything was good.
