Please note we paid for additional insurance to cover up to $15,000 worth of damage. I spent weeks trying to get in touch with someone. Jovelyn who was barely responsive. The company would screen my calls. Then finally the GM, Scott, took over my case. The company admitted fault and took responsibility, then the company agreed to replace our furniture that was damaged/broken (I have proof) and then Mike (whom till this day refuses to return my calls) decided I had to file a claim through this CSI company that investigates claims. After waiting almost 2 weeks for Jovelyn to get me the information I needed to file, I complete one. Then I contacted Moving Ahead Services MULTIPLE times because no one from this CSI claims ever reached out to me or answered my emails/calls after I filed. It's now August 22nd, I moved June 13, and I'm still sleeping on a bed on the floor because my bed frame was snapped in half. I waited to write a review because I wanted to give them the opportunity to rectify the situation. God speed if you choose this company.

Mike, and his colleague Scott, showed up in a nice large truck and loaded up quickly within an hour. They were efficient and took great care to make sure that none of our items were damaged. The move was from Rocky River to Vermilion and within 3 1/2 hours, everything was deposited in the new location with care and attention. I was really pleased with all of the communication I had with Mike in person and electronic. They were repeatedly willing to move things around in the new location to suit our needs and that was really nice to see. It was a full service move and I cannot recommend accurate moves by Mike enough!

They did not use bubble wrap, or even packing paper. They threw delicate items, literally threw, I saw them, throwing them into boxes and just broke our PS5, our clocks, anything electrical. Anything delicate was damaged. They left doors broken in our new house. It was awful. I don't understand how they could be a professional company. When we went back to our original house, we found that they just left like 1/3 of our belongings were still there. But thrown around randomly on the floor just a complete mess, not packed. They moved me from Lakewood to Fairview Park, Ohio, at a speedy rate, but were very cautious and professional. I was given a time range and they arrived within it friendly and ready to go. Prior to the move, they called a couple of times to confirm locations, prices and optional add-on's. I would NOT recommend this moving company…read more The move started out well. They arrived on time and initially seemed professional. Unfortunately, things went downhill quickly. First, the movers started putting items on the truck that I had clearly set aside to throw away, including a dryer. After loading things that weren't supposed to be moved, they then told me they were running out of room on the truck. Once we arrived at the new place, the pace became extremely slow. There were four movers, but at times it seemed like only one person was actually going back and forth upstairs and putting furniture back together. I was told they were using a "chain line," but whatever system they were using was not efficient. The move ended up taking two hours longer than expected, which added approximately $500 to my bill. Even worse, they broke my daughter's TV, which she had only owned for about four months. When I tried to file a claim, I repeatedly called and was told that a manager would contact me. I kept speaking with the same person, John, who would act surprised each time that no manager had called me back. Eventually, they stopped answering my calls altogether. As we've continued unpacking, we've discovered another serious issue. The TV stand had been taped closed with belongings inside of it, but when it arrived at the new place, those items were missing and the TV stand was empty. My biggest problem isn't just that things went wrong during the move--it's the company's lack of accountability afterward. Items were damaged, other belongings appear to be missing, my bill increased by hundreds of dollars because of the additional time, and my attempts to resolve the issues have been ignored. Based on my experience, I would not use this company again and cannot recommend them. If something gets damaged or goes missing, don't expect them to make the claims process easy or to take responsibility.

They also moved me to an apartment about 15 years ago. They moved my elderly father when he was moving from a large apartment to an independent living facility (which included helping him pack the breakables), and has moved a close friend several times. In my mind, there are no other options. Every single time - it has been perfect. No breakage. No damage. Nothing missing. Friendly. Fast. Office staff was also extremely nice and patient as we navigated through everything. Money well spent! Highly recommend!!!!

To help make things a little easier on us, Northcoast moved us on three separate days. The first…read moreday relocated my son to his new apartment. A few weeks later, we moved the belongings from our basement into the new home. Finally, a few weeks after that, the remainder of our belongings were moved. The Good All of the movers were extremely careful and courteous. We were very pleased with the personnel on all of the moves. Additionally, I requested that no "rookies" be assigned to our moves and I was happy that all experienced personnel were assigned. This is the overwhelming strength of Northcoast and should be the primary reason for using them. I would have no problem recommending them or using them again. The Iffy There were two issues that are worth mentioning. First, they tried to hook up the gas line to the dryer without the appropriate connections. Finally, realizing something was amiss, they informed me that they were unable to do it. Good thing. Second, we were unable to unpack all of the wardrobe cartons on the day of the final move. No problem they assured us. We will charge you for them now, you can keep them for however long you need them, and then call us to pick them up and we will reimburse you for the ones you turn in. What they fail to tell you is that they will only reimburse you for half of what they charge you originally. Allegedly because "some customers insist on having new wardrobes and we can't use them on every job." What a crock! Although there were several new wardrobes on our job, most of them had been used prior...one even had UHaul printed on the side rather than the company logo.

The salesman came to the house to give us a quote. We were concerned about our glass top dining…read moreroom table. It was agreed that it would be disassembled for the move. We also told him we would take the $10,000 of insurance for $100...a no brainer as I said to him. The movers called him the day of the move, and he stuck cardboard between the glass. They moved it without disassembling it and damaged it. I filed a claim only to be told I did not have insurance. Turned out I did not realize it was not included in my quote...yes, my fault but the salesman apparently did not own up to his error. They should have disassembled the table as agreed. Had they taken time to look at it, they would have found that it was easy to do so. The table was worth well over $2,000. The offered me $120 and agreed to come up to $200. Not good business and I do not recommend them!

He said he would put it in my garage temporarily and come back in a week with two more guys to put it on the basement. Three weeks went by and never heard from him. When he was contacted he said he couldn't move it and told me to hire another company to finish his job. When asked for a refund of the money we paid, he refused. I've used Tony no less than 5 times in the past. This was unprofessional and deceptive. I would NOT recommend him for your move.
