NorthCoast was awesome! The movers were super friendly and made everything easy for me. Highly recommend!

After hiring NorthCoast for an out-of-state move, the company took custody of our household possessions and moved them into their "temperature-controlled " storage facility. All of our furnishings, including our Oriental rug, were in excellent condition, clean, and moth-free prior to the move. When our possessions were delivered to our new residence, the rug was infested with live moth larvae and could not be salvaged. Much of our furniture was delivered unwrapped or partially wrapped and showed evidence of moth activity. In addition, we discovered that a number of items that had been placed in NorthCoast's custody were missing from the moving truck. The company owner promised to make us "whole" and advised us to file a claim for damages. Following our submission of all requested documentation, NorthCoast denied our claim, asserting that our furnishings must have had a moth issue prior to the company taking custody of them. The company also relies on the terms of a standard Storage Agreement, which it claims absolves it of all damage to a consumer's property, even when it has taken custody of the property as part of a contract to safely and carefully handle and move the consumer's possessions from one location to another. As for the missing items, NorthCoast never acknowledged our communications regarding the items and completely ignored our requests to search their facility for the missing property. We are out-of-pocket thousands of dollars due to NorthCoast's failure to properly care for and deliver our household possessions. read more

To help make things a little easier on us, Northcoast moved us on three separate days. The first day relocated my son to his new apartment. A few weeks later, we moved the belongings from our basement into the new home. Finally, a few weeks after that, the remainder of our belongings were moved. The Good All of the movers were extremely careful and courteous. We were very pleased with the personnel on all of the moves. Additionally, I requested that no "rookies" be assigned to our moves and I was happy that all experienced personnel were assigned. This is the overwhelming strength of Northcoast and should be the primary reason for using them. I would have no problem recommending them or using them again. The Iffy There were two issues that are worth mentioning. First, they tried to hook up the gas line to the dryer without the appropriate connections. Finally, realizing something was amiss, they informed me that they were unable to do it. Good thing. Second, we were unable to unpack all of the wardrobe cartons on the day of the final move. No problem they assured us. We will charge you for them now, you can keep them for however long you need them, and then call us to pick them up and we will reimburse you for the ones you turn in. What they fail to tell you is that they will only reimburse you for half of what they charge you originally. Allegedly because "some customers insist on having new wardrobes and we can't use them on every job." What a crock! Although there were several new wardrobes on our job, most of them had been used prior...one even had UHaul printed on the side rather than the company logo. read more

We have moved many times and this is by far the best moving company we've ever used! Frank Brian and Craig were incredible! They handled all her belongings with care. The Biggest positive is that my three-year-old daughter took to them very quickly. This is very rare for her especially with men. I was so happy that I called their manager to see if He could send the same crew that packed, to move us the next day. Thank you guys for making our move actually very enjoyable! I highly recommend them and we will be using them from this point forward for any future moves. read more

I used NorthCoast moving for a local move. They were able to schedule my move on a short timeframe. Frank, who came to my apartment to give the estimate, was very polite and professional. On the day of the move, the movers were thorough and handled my furniture and belongings carefully. The reason why I am giving 3 stars instead of 5 was because the movers apparently got lost for about 30 minutes on the way to the new apartment and I was billed for that time as part of the moving time, even though I was already charged for an hour of "transit time" that is always added to the bill. The truck had left the old apartment by the time I returned from the new apartment where I opened the doors, and they were nowhere to be seen. I called after half an hour to ask if they needed help finding the apartment, and the guy who answered the phone said that they were still loading and were on their way (...?) The new apartment was a 3 minute drive from the old one (literally a 5 minute walk), and I had given directions indicating a prominent landmark in addition to the address. In summary, they did a good job moving the stuff, but I am dissatisfied that I was charged for the time that they were lost in addition to a separate fee for the transit time. read more

I was really impressed by these people. They were very professional and had great customer service in the beginning. Unfortunately they gave me an estimate that was HALF what I ended up being charged for BOTH the move AND storage. I repeatedly asked for an adjustment and was completely ignored! Ended up costing me several thousand! Next time I'll get multiple estimates and ask for them in writing. Buyer beware! read more

I choose this company to move me back on Thursday November 9, 2017. They arrived on time and did a pretty good job moving my furniture. There was one issue when they moved the hutch part of my china cabinet, which was they hit the top of the china cabinet with the outside light of my previous house and broke the light fixture and light of my porch. The mover immediately took a picture sent it to his boss and said that they would reimburse me or fix it. I said ok. A month passed by and I called to asked about the status of getting my light fixture fixed and the owner answered the phone. He said he didn't know anything about it. He contacted the mover who confirmed what I said and the owner told me that he would have someone contact me about fixing it. A gentlemen contacted me but said he couldn't fix because he didn't have a step ladder, but would as soon as he could find a way to reach the light. The light fixture is not that high probably requires a 2 step ladder. I even gave the movers a significant tip because I was very pleased with their work. Needless to say, I'm disappointed that something was broken and that over two months later it still hasn't been fixed. I would have given them a better rating because I was pleased with the move; just a few little nicks on some furniture but I completely understood that would happen because I had a lot of heavy furniture. read more

My moving was only involved some living/family/bedroom furniture. The two-person crew came as scheduled. Before the moving, we told them to be careful with one leather sofa set. We suggested wrapping first. However, the guys did not wrap and it turned out the sofa was scratched at more that three different spots. The guy took the photos and told me the damage should be covered since they have good insurance policy , and I should be contacted by the manager in a couple of hours. However, until the coming Monday, nobody contacted me until I called myself. Then the manger said the moving crew told him the situation and the scratches were not caused by the moving, so they are not supposed to be responsible. That was just lies! The sofa had the very clear fresh scratches and anyone can see it. Then the manager tried to "satisfy" us with very minor compensation, which was not acceptable to us. So if you are worried about the furniture damages during the moving, get rid of this companies. They are just lack of professionalism and careless to the customer! read more
