My dad has been a hoarder for 50 or more years. Now at 89 years old, he had to be persuaded to get rid of his junk due to health and safety issues. I was staying with my parents from out of state for 3 weeks to help out with a recent post hospitalization. I decided that now would be the time to get rid of the junk. I had anticipated getting a dumpster and cleaning up the mess myself. Because of my limited time staying with my parents, I looked on the internet and was referred to Todd at Junk King. I talked to Todd at 9pm at night and he made an appointment to give me a free quote by 3pm the next day. Todd told me that he was much cheaper than a dumpster and could match any price around. He also told me that he would give me a discount on the second truck. Todd was very professional and after he measured everything he quoted for the job and not by the truck load. They were able to start the job the next day. The team was very professional and all came in uniform. They were very productive considering they had to clear junk from 7 acres of land, a large barn and work in deplorable conditions. They faced rats, mice, and food that had been in an old freezer for many years. They let me go through items first to meet my father's request of keeping some of his tools. We got along so well that they made me an honorary Junk King employee. They even gave me a t-shirt. Considering the overwhelming magnitude of this project, they stayed on task and even brought in extra help and worked on Saturday's to meet the deadline as quoted. They sorted and recycled all electronics, scrap metal and anything else that could possibly be recycled. In the end they took out 23 truck loads, each truck load equivalent to 6 pick up trucks, and over 50,000 lbs of junk. The price was exactly as quoted, they showed up on time and they were very respectful of my elderly father's hoarding illness. As a local realtor, I deal with a lot of different kind of houses. In October, I listed and sold an Estate that had a LOT of belongings. The buyer told us that they were willing to accept the house with the belongings inside. As week prior to close we received a call from the buyer's attorney stating that the buyer wouldn't close unless the home cleaned out. With just a few days before closing and a holiday weekend, we were at a loss. After a lot of scrambling to insure everything that was to be saved was removed from the property, I reached out to Todd (on a Sunday no less!) and scheduled for them to come the next day (on a HOLIDAY!). Todd showed up at 8am and assessed the situation. He immediately called in another truck and more men. Todd pulled me aside and gave me the "realistic" expectation that they may not be able to get it all done that same day. The walk through was scheduled for 10am the next morning and Todd promised that if it was necessary, they would be there very early to get the job completed. Todd was also aware that cost was a concern for the seller. At 3pm I got a call from the seller saying that the Junk KING was DONE! I was ecstatic to know that we wouldn't have to worry about anything the next morning. Over the years a storage room has become over stuffed with "stuff" or Junk to be specific - couches, chairs, tables, boxes of misc, mattresses, books- you name it and it was deposited in this room Who has the time or the man power to get this cleaned? We were thrilled with the professional manner in which this "junk" was removed from the building. The job was completed within a few days of my initial call. We used Junk King to clean out my father's house in which 53 years worth of "junk" had collected. Matt and Jason arrived early (after calling to confirm) and immediately got to work. They didn't slow down for a second! When the first truck was filled, they made arrangements to have a second and third truck come (thank goodness!). The men who arrived with those trucks were also helpful and hardworking. All of them were polite and respectful of us and the possessions in the house. They left a cleaned driveway, no litter anywhere. While I didn't expect to spend so much on junk removal, that was due to the volume that needed to be removed. They maintained good telephone contact with me before the appointment, so I knew exactly when to expect them. My service was amazing. I was worried at first when they came to give me the quote, but it was very reasonable and they took everything and then some. The two men who came for our junk were very professional, courteous, and above all, were worried about my home. We had cleaned the garage and piled up the junk outside but that was not necessary for these guys. They disposed of a Large heavy couch, that pile, and a large heavy overstuffed chair. The team of guys that came with their magical Junk-evaporating truck were friendly, efficient, and hardworking. They cleared out a seemingly insurmountable pile of junk like it was no big thing in only a few hours. These were rooms and basements that had not been cleared out by my building's previous owner for 15+ years! I like that they keep materials that can be recycled separated. Two very friendly and professional guys showed up and provided me with a pretty fair quote. They got to work right away and had everything gone with-in a few hours. I totally expected the bill to be right at the quote price or maybe a little bit higher, but they let me know that I didn't have a full truck and my final bill was actually about $100 less than what my dumpster company had quoted me to just drop off a dumpster and have me do the work.
