Absolutely terrible experience. I came in because I had a coffee table desk (on wheels mind you) and a mattress frame. This was told to them before they ever came. He said "see that small truck out there? That will take up 1/8" of the truck." That wouldn't even take up 1/8 of my Jeep Patriot. They said minimum charge was $298 which was a rip-off but I couldn't get rid of it any other way when I needed it.... I got a $55 coupon so it was less... but what these guys did was to claim it took 1/8 of a relatively large truck that was the size of a moving truck.... and add $30 to the minimum charge. For a coffee table..... You could stand it up vertically and fill in the minimum charge. Then they had the nerve to ask me for a 10% tip on it... calculated before the coupon, of course... I told him, " you just charged me $300 to pick up a coffee table. I'm not giving you a tip." He got pissed and gave me an evil, dirty look..... then they took the table and parked just outside my apartment until I left to get something from my car and took off.... They didn't clean up, didn't sweep, nothing after the table was picked up.... I left a review with them and it had a box to have them reach out in 1 day if I needed to talk to someone. It's on day 3. No one has reached out either by email or phone. Never again. Horrible experience... and not just ripped off... but took a minimum base charge and decided to add on $30 for spite. So if you're wondering where your tip went, it went for the $30 you ripped me off for. read more

Made an appointment for 3-5pm. At 4 I received a call to say the truck is full, can we reschedule? I offered the next morning but only if they could come right out since the movers were also coming. Sure no problem! We'll send them right out at 8am. Next day at 9am, I call since I haven't heard from them. Oh we're about 40 minutes out. No, let's cancel. Let me get a driver on the phone. No, let's cancel. Driver gets on the phone, I have to ask him for a time frame 5 times. 40 minutes out. No let's cancel. He hangs up on me. At 9:45 my phone rings. Another driver, says he's 40 minutes away. I say I'm sorry they didn't bother telling you I canceled. read more

Made an appointment a week ago for this Friday (today as of this review). Confirmed three times throughout the week for between 11am-1pm. Day of, I get another 11am-1pm for 8am conformation. 9:23am all of a sudden they are showing up at 9:30am-11:30pm. I have autism and my sister wasn't showing up for another hour and a half to help me out. I said if you show up now you cant get paid I dont have the money. So i reconfirmed between 11am-1pm. 1230pm we get another changed for between 1pm-2:30pm. We called right then and cancelled. We wasted a whole morning/early afternoon for no reason. How do you mess up an appointment made a week in advance? It was literally just a mattress that needed to be picked up. Better off going to the dump folks. read more

I was selling my house and had a garage full of items I needed disposed of. Made an appointment well in advance as timing was critical due to the closing of the house being two days later. Everything had to be out of the house. We did our part and emptied the house except for the items that we needed disposed of. Called the day of the appointment and confirmed the pick up time 5-7 pm. We waited. Then at 5:45 we received a call cancelling the appointment due to their not having a truck in the area?!?! Was informed that they could "possibly" be there the following day but "no guarantees". How do you run a business like this? Making an appointment should bring a truck to the area! They had the address a week in advance. We made the appointment and confirmed it! Got Junk left us high and dry! Had to rent a U-Haul last minute to remove the items. read more

Would give zero stars if I could! We came in from Long Island to visit our son and his girlfriend today and they have a recliner they needed to get rid of quickly, as they needed the space. I called to schedule a same day pick up and was given a 1230-230 window. Then Grant, the operations manager called around 145 to say they will definitely come but can we change to 2-4.He mentioned that if for some reason one of his team couldn't do it, since it was just one recliner, he would come by himself. We gladly agreed and waited and waited. Around 340 I called to get an update on arrival and Grant said the guy who was supposed to come couldn't due to a family emergency (not sure when he was actually going to tell us if I didn't call). I asked him if he can come since he said earlier he would. He said no I can't but we can reschedule for next week!!!! Absolutely the worst customer service! Never use them because they are unprofessional and don't follow through with what is promised. We LOVE College Hunks Hauling Junk, as we have used them over 10 times with excellent service each and every time but unfortunately they don't work in the Albany area!! I hope that changes so this area of the state can experience what great customer service is supposed to be!! Absolutely awful! read more

My husband called this morning and was told that they could be out between 2:00-4:00 pm this afternoon to pick up our large screen TV as they had a truck in our area. Easy peasy, right? Well, at 2:36, he received a text saying that they were on the way. No one ever showed, no one called or texted again, nothing. We had other furniture we were moving and had planned it around the TV being picked up first. I phoned at 4:20 and the woman told me, "I have your appointment down as 4:30-6:00 pm." She asked me to hold, and then came back on the line and told me the team would call me back in a minute or two. Sure enough, they called and the man (Grant?) said that their truck was full, could we reschedule? No, thank you. What a joke and what a disorganized business. This was our first time attempting to use 1-800-Got-Junk, and we will definitely not be using them again. read more

I had a great experience with Got Junk. Anthony called about 35 minutes prior to arrival and he and Dillon showed up as scheduled. They were very helpful with the situation. I had to move some heavy furniture and for sure couldn't handle it myself. They loaded it up in the truck, got it out of my garage. I want to also say that I appreciate the professionalism. They were dressed neatly and cleanly and although my "junk" was in the garage, would have been no issues if they had needed to go in the house with clean shoes, etc. I would definietly use them again in the future. read more

Day of pickup, I was told the truck was full and they couldn't make it. I spoke to the 'manager' who said they would be there Monday morning. They did not show up. The driver called to say they were stuck in Massachusetts with an 8-person hottub and wouldn't make it. This delayed a real estate closing. I was preparing for a major move out of state. I had an appointment with 1-800-Got-Junk scheduled on a Friday. The appointment window was 3-5. At 1 they called to say they couldn't come until Monday. As I was moving on Sunday this wouldn't work. I called the 1-800-number and they scheduled an appointment for Saturday between 9-11. Again they did not show. I signed up online. I think calling to arrange an appointment maybe better. I needed to be rid of a 30 year old 36 inch very heavy tube tv. I got a phone call 25 minutes before they showed. I showed them what I wanted to dispose of. I had some sticker shock with their pricing list almost $100 for a large tv. In hindsight I believe they over priced it. Yes it's a heavy tv but it wasn't large in my opinion- the old style projection TV's are larger than what mine was. I wanted the old tv gone so I paid. The employees asked if it worked and I said yes it does. After watching how they moved the tv to the truck I doubt it will. So online scheduling worked well, I got the pre phone call 25 before they showed up, I'm not impressed with their pricing of an but I didn't have to move it. I am only giving one star because there is no option for zero stars. I called the main number to schedule an appointment the other day to get rid of some junk in our basement. I was very excited because they were super friendly and accommodating. I made my appointment for Saturday between 12:30 and 2:30. I was out running errands Saturday morning when I got a call from the driver asking if then could come then. I told them I was out and that I would not be ready for them Until 12:30 and they seemed very put out by that. They were not friendly at all on the phone. So we arrived home at 11 because we still had to go through our stuff in the basement and make a pile for them. At 11:30 the pulled into our driveway and just sat there. This is an hour before our appointment. After About 10 minutes I went out and told them that we still need to make our pile for them but if they wanted to come in and take a look so they could give an estimate they were welcome to do so. Especially since the sales rep on the phone stressed that they will go out of their way to move stuff and that they would've very accommodating. So they came down in my basement and after about 30 seconds they just said "we will stop back in a little while". I said ooooookay and off they went. So then I called the main number to cancel my appointment and file a complaint. They were again super friendly and seemed very concerned and apologized. They said their complaint department will call me Monday morning to make it right. I made sure to stress to him that he needs to communicate to the drivers that the appointment is cancelled and they we do not need them to return. I confirmed this with him twice before hanging up and he assured me that he would communicate this to the drivers and that they would not return. My jaw just about dropped when at about 1pm they came rolling back into my driveway and I had to go back out to send them away. If they were able to provide the experience that they promise on the phone and on their website it would have been a great experience but that was not at all what I experienced. read more

This company is terrific! We had scheduled an appointment for my the clean-out of my sister's apartment. We had so much stuff I was so nervous that this would take all day, there would be issues with the stuff etc. These guys (Travis and his partner) were early, had an empty truck and got EVERYTHING out in 45 minutes!! And I mean everything!!! Trash included. They were courteous, friendly and they worked together like clockwork. Highly recommend this service!!! read more

I made my 1800 junk reservation and they were able to get to my house quickly. They were also friendly and responsive. However, they arrived 30 min after the two hour window they set. Then, one of the workers wiped her feet on my hallway runner as if it were an entry mat. It was raining so it left marks. When we got to the basement, they explained that their pricing starts at $124 minimum. Wow. Now I see why they don't advertise this price. I asked why it was so much when a bagster is $250 and you can fit much more. She said it's because they do all the lifting. Ok... so you'd assume they wouldn't seek a tip. Nope. Definitely asked if I'd like to include a tip on their five minute haul away. This company better be passing along the extreme mark up on disposal prices to these workers. They cancelled at the last minute, leaving me completely stuck, in an empty house and needing to leave town that evening. Their excuse was to tell me they were overbooked.. I asked to speak to a supervisor or owner, even offering to pay a premium to be prioritized on their schedule, but to no avail. The only reason I used them is that I had a coupon - I have previously used Junk King and was always very happy with their promptness and professionalism. I used these guys before. They showed up when they were supposed to and even carried some of the heavier things from the house to the truck. The people I worked with, dispatchers and franchisees, were all very friendly and accommodating. Pricing is not an exact science here. They try to figure out how much space the junk takes up in the truck and price per square something. I felt that the price I was paying was better than trying to haul the stuff to the local landfill. The first receipt was for $91 and the second receipt was for $155. The office has not gotten back to us about the receipt discrepancy. I was very pleased with this service and would use 1-800-got-junk again. Originally I called one of the carting companies for prices, thinking I would remove all this junk with the help of my kids and put it all in a dumpster ourselves. I then realized I had a lot of cumbersome and heavy items in the backyard and basement to get rid of. That was when I decided I needed to have help. I was pleased with the service of the 2 men from 1-800-got-junk. They looked at what I had set aside for them to take and gave me an estimate based on how much space they thought it would take up in the truck. They also told me there would be additional fees such as for tv's or air conditioners as they need to pay fees at the transfer station for those types of items. They called ahead to confirm their arrival time and arrived early. They were efficient and pleasant and courteous. read more

Friday night at around 9:00pm I was thinking of all the stuff we had and if we should get a dumpster as we had in the past. We still have signs of the dumpster being dropped off and removed.. It then hit to me look into a local Got-Junk truck. I've used them before to help clearout my parents house in Boston and had a very positive experience. Googled and found the Albany service. I set my Saturday appointment online Friday at 9:30pm and received a confirmation for 11:30 - 12:30 arrival. We got a call at 9:00am asking if they could come arouund 10:00. For our situation, this worked out. We had bigger stuff and didn't have to filter through stuff to keep or throw away. This should be done well in advance anyway. The guys showed up, gave me an estimate that was very fair, no dumpster marks and they got to work. They didn't want me to pick up anything. Pointed and off it went onto the truck. They kept asking what was next. They removed two big items in the basement and were very cautious not to make any marks. The two young men were very courteous and earned their tip. We're two for two in the positive experience column with this service. read more
