Cool bar atmosphere. I ordered my food to go at 4:30 on a Saturday afternoon, but I was able to eat it at the bar with no problem when I arrived around 5. The Mongolian beef noodle bowl was delicious, and it was enough for two meals. Highly recommend them for the food and the prompt and friendly service. Junkyard Bistro was quite the find today and such a little treasure in the middle of Salmon Idaho! We called ahead for availability for a table for 6 with social distancing and they were able to accommodate us no problem. The menu had creative choices and the friendly waitress brought us delicious fresh hot meals! Everything from "Adult" grilled cheese sandwiches to Thai noodle bowl w hoisin peanut sauce. The junkyard was really good and WAY too small for how busy it was! With the amount of social distancing in place even with the patio out back there wasn't nearly enough seating. We had lots of orders ahead of us (we walked in to order) who had called in as well as who were dining in. We were happy to come back in an hour for our food, but for how good the food is these folks need a bigger or second location! Their estimate of the food time was very accurate though, as the folks I chatted with at the bar got their food right after I came to get mine, and I saw them order right after us (we just didn't have a place to sit). Pros? The burger was super juicy and flavorful Staff was ON it... seriously these folks work hard Reasonable pricing We loved the potato bacon soup was absolutely amazing! Appearance- not inviting, but took a chance. Those first steps to the dirty tricky door almost turned us around. French dip- tender beef - flavorful aus juise- great bread. Caesar salad limp. All of the food was excellent, and my brother said the garlic burger was the best burger he has ever had. It was busy and our waitress took great care of us even though she was on the run. Tried this place based on local recommendations. 1st night I had the French dip. Omg! Excellent! Be sure to order with extra meat. Wow, delicious! 2nd night I ordered the jackyard garlic burger. Umm, not so good. Tastey mushrooms, onions and garlic but meat over cooked and overall Five Guys beats this hands down. Next time I'll stick with the French dip! It is a small little cubby in a older town in the West. The kind of town you wonder " How do people make a living here"? The Junkyard bistro is far from fancy, it dosen't need to be. The wine rack is a couple of 2×4's with holes drilled in them. And BTW it looks awesome The food is 5 star I had the pasta alfredo. My wife had the spicy peanut noodle bowl? Got the blue cheese and chicken sandwich, lots of sauce and a ton of blue cheese which was awesome. Got the potato salad which was excellent as well. They have a few beers on tap and some bottles. It was pretty crowded on a saturday so ended up sitting at the bar. The place is small so i can see there being a wait. Its right on main street and plenty of parking. What a treasure this little restaurant is. Stopped in on my way up the Bitterroot to Missoula and and am I glad that I did. We stopped in here and had dinner. I had the three taco special and my friend had the adult grilled cheese special. We are back again today. We are now trying the red wine beef and noodle dinner and my friend is having Mongolian beef and noodle bowl. We also started with the pork and seeds tapa and it is really good and would probably serve 4. This is a cool place. Great rustic decor. But don't come in for that. Come in hungry. The food is very good. I tried the gnocchi. Oh my, it was super. It's more than obvious that timely customer service isn't not a priority but the takeout orders have priority over sit down customers.
