The first time he called, my husband spoke to a guy who said they needed to see the key first to see if they could do it. Fair enough, but they could have looked the key up first on Google or something. My husband forgot to ask how much it would cost IF they could do it, so he called back. A woman took his call and was short with him, as if she didn't want to be bothered. She snapped, "Oh no - we can't do that!" My husband told her he just talked to a man who told him to bring it down. So then she said "Oh, okay. $2 or $3." When he arrived and handed them the key, she took one look at it and "No we can't do that!" She was very abrupt. We would have shopped a bit for other things, we got the clear impression that our business wasn't wanted. For anything. They were not busy at all. I can understand that they couldn't make the key, but a little more kindness and perhaps some initiative to find out exactly what kind of key we needed would have gone a long way. Since they make keys, and are no doubt familiar with modern fob type car keys, a little engagement of the gray matter would have saved everyone a big hassle.

In fact, some I asked other McCoys if they could order them, and they, which is weird. I know that with this, I will never have to replace another trough again. These have the water inlet coming in from the bottom so your water pipe is not exposed to the elements and it can't be damaged by the animals. I think these are well made and worth the money. Very long trip took most of the day. The manager was very helpful in getting everything I needed to get set up. I would come to this McCoy's again.

I originally went to Tractor Supply since their website had tent stakes, low and behold they didn't have any at all. One of employees recommended I check out Ace. The last time I shopped and saw a Lowe's grocery store is when I lived in Lubbock, it was nice seeing one again. As I walked closer towards the hardware portion, I was immediately greeted by employee, James. He had a big grin on his smile and guided me to the stakes. He was personable as well as helpful. He made small talk with me as showed me the different stakes. I opted for the Peg stakes instead since they were longer. They were only $8 and when I got back to Blanco State Park j mounted my tent properly and securely as the winds were strong during the day into the night.

Today though, I would like to give a special shout out to Jonathan Moore, a delivery driver that delivered our lumber. My wife is a 100% disabled veteran and unable to help carry anything. The boards were 16 feet long and Jonathan saw me struggling to get them into place (about 50' from our normal drop spot) and he carried the boards from the truck all the way to the building site and then helped me turn them the right way to make it much easier for me to continue my project. We moved here in '93, and I've been into Ace at least once or twice a month, likely quite a bit more, since then. Sadly, the original store burned, but it was rebuilt even better. The owners are locals who understand and practice the idea of service to their community. The store is always very well stocked and tidy, and it's very easy to locate whatever it is you stopped in for. Their staff is extremely knowledgeable, courteous, and eager to help with whatever you may need. If you don't quite know what you need, someone on staff is always happy to help explain the best way to complete your project, usually faster, better, and cheaper than you first thought. You won't get that at the big box store. In 30+ years of doing business with them, I have yet to have a bad experience. These days, that's really saying something.
