Not sure about this place. It's hole in the wall vibe on the outside and parking is limited. Inside is divided up into two sections, the fish section and the supply section. Upon walking into the fish area I first noticed the dwarf gouramis were in the very first tank and the only cover they had was a heater in the back corner which about 10 of them were trying to hide behind. There was so much algae in all the tanks and so many of the fish were in obvious distress either through hiding or floating oddly. I wanted to get many more pictures but also didn't want to cause a scene. The person who helped me was very knowledgeable but I would use extreme caution if purchasing any thing from this store. read more

There are a lot of items and fish at this store! Parking can be tricky as there's some near the building and along the street. From outside, it looks like a decrepit building with a lot of stores shuttered nearby. However, after entering and going through the air conditioned front area, I was shocked by the tens of tanks with fish, aquatic plants, and other animals. The pricing is really good and the variety is amazing. However, the AC was not on in the fish tank room. I'm unsure if it's always like that or if the AC went out. They also have a great selection of reasonably priced rocks and aquarium decor. There's basically anything and everything you need to get your tank started. read more

This aquatic store use to be okay, with a great selection. Currently though I would not recommend anyone buying fish or plants from here, they come with sickness and evasive species of snails as well as a toxic algae. Purchased plants and fish from here and they spread an illness and algae that almost killed my parrots , dog and my family. I called to get refunded and was told "no we dont refund, and or give discounts " its nature " I was told absolutely no sympathy for selling us poison. Pleasantly surprised stopping at this fish store. One thing that immediately stuck out to me was their prices. These guys are absolutely KILLING their competitors with their prices on fish foods, tanks, decor, and even livestock. I've found the cheapest price for fish food here, trumping other stores by a couple of dollars. The store itself looks and feels very old, but the staff does a good job at keeping it maintained. The employees are super nice and helpful as well. I didn't get any names but there was a very nice gentleman at the register who I observed directing another customer to a product. We were also able to have a nice conversation. The customer service was exceptional. It was a bit warm in the fish room, but there was a decent amount of interesting freshwater fish to look at. I remember coming here years ago when I set up my very first tank and I'm happy to say that they have not wavered at all from what my great memories recall. They have always had an extremely friendly knowledgeable and extremely helpful staff. They have always walked me through everything from getting my tank set up properly to troubleshooting any problems I may have. This last time they were able to help me find fish that please my wife, not aggressive fish lol and that my daughter would be able to enjoy due to their size/schooling habits as well as their amazing color. not only that but their prices are definitely well below what big box stores charge and equal pretty much big store sales prices but they have them all the time!! There's 3 separate rooms: the tank room, the accessories and where the fish room. Never had an issue with the staff of the fish I've bought there; the fish are always hearty. We drove 2 hrs from Austin to visit this store based upon other positive reviews, and we weren't disappointed. We were shopping for freshwater fish to add to our existing tanks, and found the selection to be very good, and perhaps best of all, their prices are the best we've seen on both livestock and supplies. All of the tanks looked very clean, and the staff were all friendly and willing to help us. The only reason for the 4 out of 5 stars is because we told the person bagging the fish about our 2 hr. drive time to get home, and she still only double bagged one of the five bags of fish we bought, and also because when we asked about their water parameters so that we could try to match them at home in our quarantine tanks, the staff member we asked acted very offended and said that none of their customers EVER quarantine fish bought from them; like we had insulted him just by suggesting it. I don't know about anyone else, but WE quarantine no matter where the fish come from, and any experienced fish-keeper worth his or her salt should practice and encourage this. Despite this, Fintique is a great store and definitely worth your time. read more

Don't let looks fool you. Fintique is in an older part of town and it's exterior is nothing special. I almost didn't want to stop. The customer service was great! After doing some comparison shopping, at about 6 other stores, the service and price here can't be beat. The "saltwater" expert was very knowledgeable. She didn't try to sell us anything we didn't need and answered all our questions. Other places we went to tried to get us to buy stuff we didn't need or just weren't around to ask questions of. I also went online and did research before making any purchases and found her info to be helpful and true.
