Initially, the staff was friendly and eager to make a sale, but things took a turn for the worse when they damaged my driveway during a materials delivery. The driver had ample space to pull in straight and dump the load, but instead, he chose to back in. As a result, he drove the semi-trailer tires over my driveway, tearing up the asphalt and creating a significant mess. I've had larger trucks deliver materials without any issues before, so this was unacceptable. I promptly reached out to Ewing, and the manager, Ricardo, told me to get a repair quote. I emphasized that we had a family event that weekend, and the damage was right at the entrance of my driveway. I remained calm and respectful, simply asking for them to do the right thing. Days passed, and my follow-up messages to Ricardo went unanswered. I gave him the benefit of the doubt due to the approaching weekend, but ultimately, I had to cover the $1,350 repair cost myself. When I finally heard back the following week, Ricardo informed me that his management didn't want to take responsibility for the damage their company caused. Incredible! There's a pattern with this shady company, see the photos attached of other unsatisfied customers that had their property damaged. If such damage occurred at their personal property, would they have simply brushed it off? Ewing is a greedy company with numerous locations. Save yourself the hassle--many other suppliers out there value customer service and accountability. Keep your business local!

He personally walked me around and made suggestions on how to make my project a little more efficient. I was also surprised at the prices. They are much lower than Ace in Wimberley. Outside the loading guy was funny and helpful even though his co worker left him with a chore. But the product. That was mighty weak. His co worker had dug thru the lumber to find some good lumber the size the customer asked and the carnage was everywhere. We just went to the stack that was the "freshest" they had. I wasn't picky. I just needed some studs cause I ran out. Wow! Good thing I didn't care. Provably 50 cents+ more per bird and maybe 25% quality(if you ever collected coins and played with grading them, you'll get the "quality drives price" equation). I don't think I'll do that again unless I'm even more desperate. Really want to give them my business and would have no problems buying other stuff. I'm just bummed I won't get lumber at the local lumber spot.

Nick went above and beyond to help me and is so so knowledgeable!! The warranty offered is definitely worth it--we highly recommend opting for it for peace of mind. Our arborist, Martin, who comes out to check on the palm, has also been absolutely incredible! He took his time inspecting the tree, carefully pruning it, and showing genuine care and expertise every step of the way. Martin is not only knowledgeable, but also attentive and passionate about what he does, which really puts us at ease knowing our palm is in such good hands. We truly appreciate the outstanding service and wouldn't hesitate to recommend both the nursery and Martin. Their plants are expensive but they have the most beautiful large plants in town. A 20 yr old for the front and a smaller one for the back. The guys installing were awesome. Removed any roots from the previous tree, treated the soil before planting, leveled it out nicely. And they treated the smaller tree with as much care and concern as the larger. Cleaned up nicely once done. Couldn't be more pleased.

It's dog friendly, and they even have treats for your pet up front at the checkout stand. They have regular sales, and their prices are competitive on bird seed, which has gotten quite expensive everywhere. Some friends of mine were visiting from out of state and from east Texas, and they specifically asked to go there. They found items they loved and bought them, and we had a good time shopping together there. I especially enjoy this time of year when they have baby chicks. I haven't bought dog food here, but they have a huge selection, so I'll probably check it out the next time I visit.

It's not a "dollar" store - it's more like a…read moremini-Walmart with a bit of everything from food to housewares to drugstore stuff to beer & wine, packed into very tight quarters. Prices are usually low but sometimes portions/package sizes can be, too. Sometimes it's the only place to shop in rural areas. Comedians from the South joke about how DG is taking over the world, since you'll often find more than 1 store in close proximity in a sparsely populated area. This particular DG is next to the massive Brookshire Brothers (BBros) grocery in the village of Hancock on FM 306 in Canyon Lake, Texas. I'll usually find myself in here when BBros doesn't have something I need, or I want to avoid the "lake weekend tourism" crowds at BBros, or I want to use my $5 off $25 coupon (valid every Saturday; install the Dollar General smartphone app for this and more coupons). Visiting the DG (any of them) takes a certain kind of patience. They're typically understaffed with one person on site to perform all duties of managing the store, stocking shelves, tidying messes, and checking out customers. As a result, the store aisles are often total chaos, with stacks of bins blocking the paths, half-empty displays with misplaced items, and so on. The refrigerated and frozen food items may be past the expiration date (so be sure to check it). The internet is full of reports of poor corporate practices that cause these systemic problems and I don't blame the employees. So, why 4 stars? I thoroughly appreciate having a store that almost always has what I need when I go in there, and usually without a long wait to finish my errand. I have found last minute gifts, holiday decor, missing recipe items, emergency t-shirts, supplies for a lake outing, extra bath towels in "hotel white", first-aid kit materials, skin care, and obscure candy that my teen loves. I can be in & out of there in 10 minutes, especially if I use the self checkout line. Plus, I enjoy the gamification of the DG app in which I stock up coupons and work to get my total bill down as low as possible. Finally, the people watching is next level in here if you appreciate a real-life soap opera in which all the tea of the neighborhood is spilled. Protips: Install the app and get your discounts! You'll also want to enter your phone number in the kiosk during checkout to pair your coupons with your transaction. Bring your own bags if you can. The yellow DG bags are notoriously flimsy and the checker will put each item in its own bag; it gets comical after a bit. Avoid using a cart if you can. The aisles are often too crowded to pass through with a cart.
