I was fortunate to "be chosen" by Chris from among the many staff members in the department on my first visit. I had little plumbing knowledge, therefore I required assistance choosing a sink faucet. He asked how my day was doing and that he would be more than pleased to answer any questions I had as he took me to the kitchen faucet section. Throughout my stay with him, he provided me with exceptional service in terms of item selection and pros and cons. Chris, in my opinion, provided exceptional customer service by taking the time to comprehend my problems and treating me as a person in need of guidance and support rather than just as a "paying customer." I was immediately put at ease by Chris's kind demeanor and his ability to clearly explain the advantages and disadvantages. I can't say enough good things about Chris. I also want to express my gratitude to the entire Home Depot team for their kind disposition, consideration, and cooperation, all of which added to the enjoyable experience.

I am very disappointed in my recent experience at the Bristol, CT Home Depot. A number of years…read moreback, I purchased a pendant lamp for my kitchen. It was the kind that hangs on the cord. It had a lovely green glass globe. I put three of them together to make a rather attractive lighthing fixture. I want to do the same thing in another part of my kitchen. Unfortunately, the globe has been discontinued. However, the Bristol store had one on display, but, of course, none in stock. If one more store has a display unit, I will have all three. So, off to Bristol I went. I found a sales person and asked about buying the display unit. He knows it was discontinued, but told me that he "can't sell it to me." I asked what will become of it and he told me that when a new shipment comes in, they will ship that discontinued display unit back to its source. It is truly unfortunate that Home Depot is more concerned with process than its customers. Over the past 20 years, I have literally spent tens of thousands of dollars at Home Depot, but that counts for nothing. If they don't want to be inconvenienced to sell a display unit, and instead choose not to make a profit on a sale, it is clear that their interest in their customers as people with real needs does not exist. I am persistent, so I will take this up with the district manager, who will probably decide that it is easier to take my money than to find out how far up the Home Depot complaint chain I am willing to take this. (Hint: I am persistent...) But in the meantime, I just wasted an hour and a half of my time and a 15 mile round trip only to be told that Home Depot does not want to take my money to buy a product that they actually have right there in the store.

Went a few months ago for a padlock. They didn't even bother looking. Told me they didn't carry…read morethem. Visited again looking for a flat head screw driver and rope. was immediately told that they were sold out. again they didn't even make an attempt to look. Today I went to get ice melt. There was a full pallet of ice melt outside. Before I could even read the name on bag there was someone asking me if I needed something. I replied yes I'd like to buy some ice melt please. He said go inside and ask the gentleman at the desk. And then asked me how I found out about the place. As if it's not located on a major road in the city. Walked inside and an older gentleman asked if I needed anything. He obviously didn't work there so I asked him if he was employed there. He answered no and then directed me to the gentleman behind the desk. I kindly asked to purchase 5 bags of ice melt. Desk clerk rolled his eyes took a deep breath and said I gotta check because I don't have alot left. I quickly said no problem sir I'll look elsewhere. Have a good day, and walked out. Everytime I go to this place Im unable to purchase anything. Maybe next time I'll cut my dreads off before I go inside. Ho

So I called back and asked if they were having phone issues she said yes and proceeded to transfer me again. This time a man picked up barked at me with a terrible attitude at which this point he goes what do you need with just a snarly tone. To which at this point I said a sales person with out the "tude" and then congratulated him for turning away business and hung up. I really don't have a clue as to why people feel its ok to behave this way over the phone, but it's a sure fire way for me to not give you my money, ever!

If you need tools, Harbor Freight is going to be a go-to stop. You can find some items cheaper…read moreelsewhere, but consistently HF has good prices, and geez, compare them to Ace Hardware or True Value an you'll see what a difference they can make. This particular store has some issues -- some of their employees appear quite disinterested -- but then we encountered Jeydon, who is a terrific retail salesperson with wonderful people skills. A salary hike should be in order here. We've spent a bunch of money in this store and have come away pretty darned happy for most of our experiences.
