It's part Stonewell Kitchen, part Sur La Table, part Williams Sonoma. I defy you not to spend at least 45 minutes just wandering around and gawking at all of the cool stuff in here. Pots, pans, glasses, mugs, utensils, gizmos and doo-dads are everywhere. They have a nice little coffee bar in the middle of the store and guess what? You get a free coffee with your Yelp check-in. My Café American was one of the very best cups of Joe I've had in a real long time. Service was excellent, with lots of smiling and helpful folks all over the store. We bought a jar of coconut curry sauce, some kiddie-sized serving dishes for our grand-daughter, and left pretty darned impressed. read more

If you are looking for something unique or special they will most likely have it. Baking, cooking, cake decorating and much more. They also offer cooking classes multiple times per month. In the middle of the store they have a small coffee shop. I ordered the hot chocolate and it was made with your choice of whole or 2% milk. The price was a bit steep for the large chocolate 3.99 (tax included). I was expecting a bigger cup for the large but regardless the hot chocolate was amazing. I would buy it again. I feel compelled to tell the local community that Cookshop is just so downright fantastic. There are so many reasons why and, since everyone is different, you'll have to visit to decide for yourself. But I'll give you my top reasons: 1. service service service. These folks are just so helpful and not pushy and give genuinely good advice. They're so friendly and gracious I almost feel like I'm not in the northeast. 2. selection selection selection. Oh - you didn't know you needed this or that a number of other things even existed? You do now! 3. drinks drinks drinks. The coffee bar is awesome and, since the owners are Australian, there are some fun selections that you're not getting anywhere else. The sign on the sidewalk brought me and my friend in for an iced coconut caramel latte. Great concept for a home/kitchenware store with its own coffee bar! We also got a cappuccino. Not too many places offer knife sharpening services anymore. Was happy to be able to support a local business and get something off my to do list. Typically they will do the knives while you wait but the day we went the individual had the day off. A nice new addition to West Hartford Center, CookShop Plus has everything from pots and pans to cookie cutters and French presses. This store has an outstanding selection for all kitchen tools and gadgets that you may need. Careful, though--you may spend a little time (and money) in here. Toward the back of the shop, a great little coffee bar sits with options of basic coffee and espresso drinks as well as hot chocolate. The coffee beans are from Neat (in southern Connecticut) and the chocolate used for the hot chocolate is Ghirardelli. Grab a cup of coffee and a seat at the bar, then figure out which item you need (or just want because you never thought such a thing existed until you saw it here). I snagged a hot chocolate while I perused the store. Baked goods from Hartford Baking Company (in West Hartford) are also offered!! However, there are two drawbacks. First, parking is definitely a little difficult, as all parking in West Hartford is, but there is a lot behind the store and an alley next to the store connecting the lot to cut through to the main street and store entrance. Second, the prices are on the higher end and a little steep. (That may be expected, seeing it is in a higher end retail area and the only store of its kind around. Its competition is Crate & Barrel, but C&B does not nearly have such a wide selection, or a coffee bar for that matter.) If you are in the area or need something for your kitchen--and want a little cup of coffee to warm you up--then CookShop Plus is the place. read more

Went into this store to look over their options for dish holders. Walked around for at least 15 minutes and my sister and I were the only customers in the store. No associate greeted us, no associate asked if we needed assistance. 15 minutes into our visit a white couple walked in and were immediately greeted and asked if they needed assistance. We simply left. On our way out I was going to ask to speak to the manager until I realized she was counting the til and as I left barely gave me a smile and still didn't speak. I went back in to ask her name (Samantha) and if she was indeed a manager, she was. Only then did she ask if I needed assistance... 4/22 Update Hi James, Thank you for your prompt response. The fact that you know the details of my visit before I even posted and still managed not to greet me, my sister, or my child actually makes me feel even worse about my visit. A simple hello or good-bye takes 2 seconds and would not have had a major effect on your closing procedures as you demonstrated when you greeted the other customers that came in. Yes, Samantha did greet me after I inquired if she was a manager and what her name was. However, that does not make up for her, or your lack of attention while we were actually shopping in your store. No where in my review did I say your company was racially biased, I merely stated the facts of my visit, what you and customers like myself infer from those facts are what you should be concerned about because yes, it did come off as racially offensive. It appears that your apology is less of an apology and more of an explanation. As a business owner, if this really was a result of the tedious closing procedures, I would review your closing protocols and make sure all staff are aware of the importance of greeting ALL customers no matter the time of day. This store is unique to the Center. It is a real gem. Other reviews cover the fact that they have or can get anything that exists and I concur. To wit: We needed a larger clamp for an ancient pasta maker. They got it for us. We needed a battery for our meat thermometer. They don't carry the small batteries but showed us how to remove it, then sent us across the street to the hardware store to get a battery. Amazing service and attitude! Cook Shop Plus is a must-visit when you are in the Center. read more

What a super experience! I had blown up my 30 year old food processor and was on a quest for a new one. Because I am a geek I did all kinds of online research to find exactly what I wanted. I decided on the 14 cup Cuisinart. I knew Cookshop Plus had recently opened in West Hartford Center and supporting local business is always my first choice. I'm so glad I did. James was super nice and very knowledgeable as he showed me the various models they had available and how they differed. I did wind up going with the 14 cup Cuisinart. James was even kind enough to walk the big box around the corner for me. I found their service was exceptional and the price was the exact same as a big box store. Do yourself a favor and head to Cookshop Plus next time you need something for your kitchen. I should mention they also have a coffee bar so you can sip as you shop.
