Sometimes social media gets it right and sometimes social media misses the mark…read more To suggest a place is high top great only to experience it yourself is a bit off putting to say the least and when it comes to Golden Apple Buffet, social media missed it... So the place is in Snellville just past the Cookout next to the Texas Roadhouse. And let me be clear, this is a Chinese buffet so expect it to be as kitschy and stereotypical of your previous Chinese buffet experiences. The interior is well lit, booths are a bit crammed and the food stations are not as extensive for options. The service is literally non-existent. They bus your tables and are up to speed with refills which is basic service anyways. Now for the food. It's a buffet so it's not much to write home about. Seeing that it is a Chinese buffet, I decided to stay on the familiars. Pepper steak, lo mein, some crawfish, a baked pasta, and decided to try the pho So the Chinese options weren't that bad. The baked pasta was decent. Lo mein was flavorful. The teriyaki chicken was a bit off and the pho... well... the pho was a let down. The options were minimal. Four stations, with a noodle soup options, hibachi, and sushi tucked in the back. Can't say this buffet experience was all that it was hyped up to be. It was small, very minimal in terms of food options, lacked any sense of flavor for a buffet but the place was clean, well lit, and fast. At $20.99 for dinner plus tax and tip you're not paying much for AYCE but suffice to say, quality is subpar, options are much to be desired, and yet it's probably the best thing for AYCE Snellville has to offer and that's not saying a whole lot for Snellville

Cool decor, clean spaces, and items are all well organized…read more There is a huge variety of foods--veggies, tofu, meatballs, milk teas, crepe cake....and a huuuuuuge sauce bar! Also, all the meats we had were really great--they were all flavorful, tender, and beautifully marbled. Broths (we had spicy miso and mala) were also very flavorful, more so than most shabu/hot pot places I've had in Georgia. The thing that drives it all home though is the service. You have excellent servers who are considerate and know when to step away and give you some time, or when to come in and ask if you needed anything else. Our server was friendly, empathetic, and an absolute star. Also, the runners and bussers come in quickly and silently when attending to your table, yet are friendly when responding, well versed on the menu offerings, and quick to take action with anything you needed. I have literally never seen such top tier service at any Asian establishment, let alone restaurants in general. We will be back for the service alone; they contributed greatly to the overall experience so props to management for their excellent employee hiring/training.

I'm sorry but I really don't want to be dishonest about this place. So, I won't be dishonest…read more The food is fine. Inconsistent at times, but it's fine. It's a nice buffet. And while I do enjoy this buffet from time to time with my family and I think the recent remodel is very beautiful, these servers and managers need to do some serious reevaluating in the way they interact with certain demographics of customers versus others. And no, I don't think this is a language barrier issue. It's a "this location" issue. They're usually very passive (not unfriendly at all, they just clearly don't care to be there lol which is relatable and fine) whenever my family and I go here, but the other day in particular, our server treated us like we were practically subhuman. She aggressively threw our straws on the table, didn't speak to us at all but acknowledged everyone else around her, didn't make eye contact, and she never came back to refill drinks once. She even threw our check onto the table and just walked away without another word. It was so bizarre, and my family was very weirded out by it. Meanwhile I sat and watched her stand at + have multiple conversations with the Asian table sitting directly in front of us and she was constantly checking in on them and being so warm and polite to them. The manager(?) asked us "you're not going to tip?" multiple times after we paid, and she then got visibly annoyed when I flat out told her that no, we wouldn't, because our server was rude since the moment we sat down. It was almost cartoonish. Just a very deeply unserious, disappointing and strange experience. I don't think I've ever refused to tip anyone in my life and I've had ROUGH service before both in and out-of-state. Please stop hiring workers who are either very clearly anti-black or who can't even communicate with body language at the very least. When you passively treat people like they're invisible or beneath you, then you're not at liberty to receive anyone's time or money.

The seafood is really good, my favorite being the fried shrimp and salmon, I believe they only have this on weekends though. The staff is super sweet and attentive, making it a great experience overall. Would definitely recommend for a family dinner or date with your loved one!

Luckily, we…read morereturned to this massive buffet palace on a non-holiday Monday for lunch...and it was perfect! The selection was a bit smaller (no Snow Crab Legs, for one), but the selection was plentiful still...and the pricing was much less (given the non-holiday selection?). Just as before, we tried a bit of everything. Sushi rolls are something I vowed not to eat at a buffet, but the selection here was so tantalizing, I had to try a few. As anticipated, even the sushi rolls tasted great! Thoroughly enjoyed their various Chinese options, especially the Dim Sums! Service was excellent as well. Truly, am surprised that some folks rated this place anything less than 4 stars. It's probably one of the better buffet joints I've been to in the U.S. There's not a single buffet joint in my city (Charlotte, NC) that can stand up to this...in that the selection is truly massive, and possibly the biggest seafood selection I've seen at a buffet? Overall, we love this buffet...and am sure to return!

I loved that they had a sashimi section, it was super fresh and cold since they constantly sit on a bed of ice. My next favorite was their dungeoness crabs. My brother tried the pho there and .. I would not recommend getting it lol. The only criticism I have for Gohan is that some of their foods came on individual plates and bowls which was a bit annoying. For example, the sashimi came on a small aluminum tin, on top of a ceramic plate. So if you want to load up on sashimi, you would have to juggle all those plates as well. Anyway, their food was great and tasted fresh for the most part. I have been thinking about it since; I would definitely return here for my next GA trip!!
