My boyfriend and I love Journeys End, it's definitely one of our favorite date spots. Quality comfort food at a reasonable price, what more could you ask for? I almost don't want to write this review because I feel like it's such a hidden gem. They have a delicious selection of desserts, my fav being the peach cobbler with their soft serve ice cream. For lunch I especially love the meat roast over rice with mac and cheese. The fried chicken is always fresh and made to perfection, as well as their large selection of sides. The seafood is really good, my favorite being the fried shrimp and salmon, I believe they only have this on weekends though. I love Southern food and I am always looking for a good place. Unfortunately, Journeys Ends food has gone down hill. I went for lunch and was excited to have greens, cornbread and dressing. The dressing had no flavor except it was extremely salty. I could not see any celery or onion in it. The greens were also over salted . I saw an awesome looking pork chop and again way over salted. The banana pudding tasted like canned vanilla pudding with only a small amount of bananas and crackers. I was told the food is only seasoned correctly if Ms. Virginia is there. Consistency is a must for a restaurant to survive. Overall I was very disappointed. Additionally the sweet tea which I normally love tasted like sugar syrup. Way too much sugar. I am not sure I can recommend it at this point. I will say the waitress was very attentive. read more

This is the spot if you're looking for a relaxed, country-style buffet. You walk in and order a drink, see where your tables at, then you're free to make a plate. The menu changes daily with some stuff being served all week. The food is delicious and includes country dishes such as collards, mac and cheese, cornbread, etc. My favorites main courses are the pot roast, shrimp, and the ham. My only thing is I didn't like the sweet potato soufflé, which was very disappointing, but maybe it was a bad day. Different entrees are made per day, and they post the menu on their website. They have a huge salad bar and a dessert bar. They also offer takeout where you can pay for a to-go box per pound. It's a bit pricey, but for all you can eat it's decent, you'll definitely get your money's worth. I'd heard great things, but I was not impressed. The fried chicken and catfish were wonderful, but the salmon was WAY overcooked and very dry. This was my mom's favorite place to eat. Sometimes I go here just to remember her. The food is usually good but sometimes it's hit or miss. The fried chicken and the green tomatoes are always on point. Same thing for the service. Sometimes hit or miss. I haven't encountered anything yet that would make me stop patronizing this place. The customers spill food on the floor around the buffet that should be cleaned up right away but other than that I'd recommend ppl to try it at least once. We haven't been to this place in probably 20 years so I was excited to try it out. We stepped into the door and immediately the hostess did NOT greet us but instead she had attitude. There were three servers when we were there. A black girl, Hispanic and white. It was the black girl that "helped" us."booth or table" I said booth. She clearly didn't hear me bc she said "booth or table" with just grossness coming out of her mouth. Asked us for our drink order and then took us to our table. A server came, grabbed our ticket and got our drink order. We went to the buffet, there are hand sanitizers around for you to clean your hands. The broccoli and cauliflower was good. The shrimp was good. My son enjoyed the chicken tenders and fries. The catfish and scallops were just okay. Mostly skin and not a lot of meat. They had other vegetables and meats that I did not partake in. A salad bar that looked decent and the desserts were pecan pie, chocolate cake and a coconut cake. Ice cream and also a lemon cake. Probably won't go back for another 20 years especially with someone who clearly doesn't enjoy her job. The Hispanic woman who was bringing out the clean plates to use was very nice and even greeted people. Let's move her to the front. She's clearly happy to have a job! This restaurant has all of the foods that you think when it's a nice, down home meal you are wanting. The food was fresh and the servers were pretty nice. The way the food bar is set up can make waiting in line a pain and take away from the dining experience. Also, I wasn't a fan of the seasoning. Nothing that I got tasted like I thought it would. I was surprised that I've actually had better seasoned food at some commercial-type restaurants. I will go back and give it another try because the menu is comfort food at its best. This place is in an old building. It' s very cozy inside but obviously has not been updated to modern restaurant look. This is ok, because it is more rustic and farmhousy, if that makes sense. We were there on a Friday and they had a buffet with seafood. Everything looked good and appeared clean. The staff was friendly and were helping with the social distancing and sanitizing rules ( March 2021). The food was southern cooking type of food with some salad and some seafood. Although the food and servers are really good. They are high priced and have just added 18% tip to their checks. I believe this is excessive since the only thing the servers do is bring you your drink and clean the table. It is buffet and you get your own food. We eat here regularly, last week their policy was adding tip to parties of 8 or more. The change on their board was not obvious that it had changed to parties of 2 or more, they just painted the 8 to make it look like a 2. A lot of people probably my won't pay attention and will leave additional tip then pay the bill. I'm really glad I paid attention. When I went to pay the bill and asked about the change, the cashier was not even aware of the change. I think a tip of almost $5 for two people is a bit high for someone that simply brought our drinks and cleared the table. The total for two people to eat to $32.83 with our senior discount! there are plenty of other buffets and good places to eat a lot cheaper. We could even eat steak for that price. Ok this may take a minute to gather my thoughts. Journeys End is a southern buffet eatery created by the owners of The Blue Willow in Social Circle,GA. Ive eaten here at least 4 times. Blue Willow is better . I was debating whether to come here or The Busy Bee. I wish I had gone with my first choice . It's all you can eat for $13.49. I started out with veggies - collards, yams, Lima beans and fried green tomatoes. The collards were tough as though they were not cooked well. They were cut larger than I'm used too. In other words the leaves or stems were quite large. The green tomatoes were greasier than usual. Out of the veggies the yams were ok. So I didn't eat the rest of the veggies,therefore, I was still hungry. I went back to see what seafood was available. Fried catfish or grilled tilapia. I went with the catfish :). It was a whole catfish but small size. It was rather tasty seasoned just right. I looked around for a salad and I noticed flies were flying around the macaroni salad and peaches. I dropped the tongs and kept the fish. The desserts were Peach cobbler, coconut pies, pound cakes. I passed on desserts. Especially since I had a big banana split yesterday:). The dining area was full and this was due to the church crowd. I was seated in one of the areas where most of the church crowd was seated. It was about 30 at the table. They all were dressed in white so maybe it was the Pastors Anniversary or Homecoming. I noticed they all got their moneys worth. Plates were stacked high from baked chicken, meat loaf, fish and ham. I said to myself what's in their food that's not in mine bc it's not good. There were 2 servers in this area serving them but one of them asked if I needed anything. I wasn't pleased with the food this time around. It was better some years ago. I'm not certain if management has changed but it's not the same. Southern style buffet similar to Blue Willow in Social Circle. I like Blue Willow much better though. This place wasn't bad though...I drove by and decided to eat here once I saw lots of people coming in. Plus I was so hungry, I felt like I couldn't wait it decide on a menu so this would give me several options. Staff was friendly and made sure we were taken care of. Food staff that brought the food out made sure the buffet was clean and stocked. I liked that. I didn't like the fact that I had to wait 10 minutes for the next batch of fried chicken. Lol. I guess with buffets you just never can gauge how fast the food goes. The lunch buffet included fried chicken, fried tilapia, Mac n cheese, green beans, fried creamed corn, toast with gravy, beets, fried green tomatoes, cabbage,/chicken livers, veg soup, chicken n dumplings, salad bar. Desserts included apple and peach cobbler, banana pudding, vanilla ice cream, coconut cake, chocolate cake, and Journey bars (some type of coconut brownie bites). The food was pretty good. A bit under seasoned, but for most patrons that seemed to be seniors I understood why. I thought the salad toppings should have been chopped smaller. The sliced tomatoes, peppers and onions were like a third in size. I didn't try everything but from what I did try-my favs were the fried chicken, corn, fried green tomatoes, veg soup, homemade lemonade (perfect level of sugar), and cabbage. Now, the peach cobbler was SUPER sweet but was good once I paired it with the vanilla ice cream to offset the sweetness. The banana pudding looked like soup so I passed on that. As southern girl...I'm just funny about my banana pudding so I just didn't. Overall...sure I'd go back to visit when I don't feel like frying chicken. I'd also like to sample other menu items. We go to Jounrneys End often. If you go to eat at Journeys End it is all buffet style. The problem with this is, so many to go orders they can buy food by weight. You have to wait on the kitchen to cook more food. After 8:00pm, no food will be put out. So, with so many to go orders, they run out fast. If you are in restaurant near 8pm, you have paid the buffet price of 19 plus dollars and you can't get what you want or all you want to eat. Seafood and fish go fast. read more

My family and I came here after church. When we walked into the restaurant, we were told that it would be an hour wait. While waiting, the restaurant ran out of food and plates. So, you could hear many people upset about that. We ended up waiting 40 minutes. The "feel" of the place, is a country, southern buffet. This is a place to bring kids and dress casual. Its noisy, so if you are the boisterous type, you'll fit right in! The selection of meat was fried and grilled chicken, meatloaf, ham, fried and baked fish. The sides ranged from yams, greens, string beans, mashed potatoes and dressing. They had peach cobbler, coconut cake, chocolate cake, and ice cream. They have a good sized salad bar and two soup selections (dumpling and vegetable.) All of the meats that I had (fried chicken, meatloaf, ham) was super delicious! Everything was fresh and piping hot. Soooo good. The sides were a different story. The sides that I jad (macaroni, mashed potatoes and gravy, dressing, string beans and greens,) were not seasoned well. Out of all that I listed, the dressing is the one that had a dash of salt. I did not enjoy the coconut cake. It was dry. I gave three stars, because to pay for our food, we had to wait 32 minutes. 32 minutes to pay for you food is RIDICULOUS!
